We highly recommend staying in Yolo Guesthouse if you are staying overnight at Upper Yubeng Village. The owner and staff of the guesthouse was very friendly, helpful and informative throughout our stay.
We connected through WeChat prior to arrival and liaised with the guesthouse for transport from Lower Yubeng to upper Yubeng. The transport was included in the reservation. On arrival in the afternoon, the staff introduced and escorted us to a nearby restaurant for lunch even though it was drizzling.
The guesthouse is strategically located to have views of the valley downstream and upstream. The building structure is sturdy and well designed compared to many other accommodations in the villages. The interior of the room and the rooftop coffee bar is beautifully designed and clean. They also have Dyson hairdryer and Smeg electric kettle. Coffee at the rooftop bar was decent but it was accompanied by amazing views of the valley. We were the only ones at the rooftop bar after check in and we also had their in-house hotpot at night which we enjoyed.
Prior to departing for our day hike (Glacier lake from Upper Yubeng Village) the next day, the guesthouse even provided hiking poles, crampons, bottled water, Red Bull canned drinks and a homely ham and egg sandwich. We were also allowed to leave our bags stored with them as we had to check out in the late afternoon after returning from the hike. After checkout, the guesthouse also helped to call a vehicle to transport us down to lower Yubeng village.
We wished we had stayed here longer throughout our trip to Yubeng. We felt very welcomed and had a memorable stay. Thank you so much!
Very nice hotel in a small village decorated with traditional ******* furniture. We had the family room, it was a large, beautiful room. Nice food and hospitality.

PPengguna TetamuAmazing place, amazing hotel, amazing view. The service provided is impeccable. The team is just 1 wechat away.
Afternoon tea was really good. So was breakfast. No complaints really.. Apart from the usual village-wide power outages (but this affects the whole village, so it is not up to YEYU’s control).
Loved every second spent here. Wish we could live here
PPengguna TetamuFantastic location.
The room we got was superbly well designed with a view of Meili mountains from the bed. Room amenities felt luxurious and expensive - from the bath robes, the b&o speaker to the minibar beverages. Really loved the indoor onsen/bath fixture which really felt like a treat.
The hotel surroundings were also beautiful and well designed to maximise the view of the Meili mountains.
Only complaint is the initial front desk/reception service which felt a little haphazard. Apparently the room I booked wasn’t available that day and the reception tried to offer us another room that was supposedly of the same price but had a poorer layout and view. I think great service would have been to offer a better room (which was available since we then requested an upgrade which we paid for). Also, there was bellboy/butler to receive us when we first reached the hotel.
BBellaWow! This is one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and the uninterrupted view of the mountain range was just stunning. The boss was helpful and kind, bringing us warm milk before bed. The room was super comfortable and had lovely decoration. It was also so warm and cozy in winter. Absolutely loved this hotel and think it was great value.
AAteszAmazing small village with warm welcoming ******* family. The whole area is very calm, not touristy. The boss lady speaks perfect English as she used to be a tourist guide. If you need any help, you should add her to WeChat. Her number is on Trip.com. The hotel is brand new and very clean. You can have a room with view to the glacier. This is the perfect basecamp for visiting the Mingyong Glacier and Yubeng. They can take you or pick you up to/from these destinations. They have a good variety food options, the kitchen is very clean. They also sell beer and local wine. We loved our stay and would stay again anytime if we come back to the region. This is real ******* hospitality.
CClaudiaVERY DISAPPOINTING!
Overall: The inn is nice and confortable but the service is terrible. Service made us feel very unwelcome and ruined the experience.
Room: humble but comfortable room. You can ask for a heater, which is very needed in the winter months (we stayed here in late November). Be aware that some rooms are marked as “Mountain View” but in fact you’re in a covered area so won’t really have a view (pictures attached) - we booked one of these rooms but since it was low season we were lucky to get a free upgrade and get one of the few rooms with a nice view.
Cleanliness: the rooms are relatively clean, but we had a mouldy shower curtain (see pictures).
Amenities: the restaurant / front desk area is very nice and cosy.
Service: terrible! Every time we needed their assistance it felt as if we were disturbing them from sitting by the fire (even though they barely had any customers and it seemed as if they were not busy at all). We are international traveler’s that don’t speak Chinese and the service was unhelpful and not welcoming. We’ve had no issues anywhere else in our trip in China, this was definitely the worst we have experienced. After reading other reviews it seems that the boss is very helpful, but he wasn’t there when we stayed at the inn and it appears that the workers don’t do a good job when he is not around. The workers didn’t advise us that we needed crampons for one of the hikes we did (hikers from other inns told us that these were a must) so we had to reluctantly stay one more night to complete the hike.
When we booked another night, one service member told us a price and another service person told us a different (lower, almost 100cny lower) price. We were then charged the first (higher) price, which made us feel quite uncomfortable. The day after when we tried to rent crampons from the inn the lady told us that it was 20 cny to rent per day, and that in other places it was 40 cny per day. We decided not to rent them because they looked in very bad condition. We later found out that you can buy them brand new at “meets meili snow mountain” for 35cny and use them for the 2 hikes. We also had to rent hiking poles even though they provide them for free at the hotel given that the ones they had didn’t look in good condition and weren’t tall enough for us (the lady at the desk got frustrated with us because of this).
Overall, very unhelpful, impatient service - we felt extremely uncomfortable because of it. If you’re an international traveller and don’t speak much Chinese stay away!!
Food: was good but small portions compared to other places. We ended up eating most of our meals elsewhere because the service made us feel very unwelcome. Limited breakfast options, there’s many more options at “meets meili snow mountain”.
ZzuriahAs expected from 5 stars hotel, service was beyond expectations. We got avroom with very good view. Meili Snow mountain was in front of us. We can see the sunrise from our room. Amenitiescwas superb. Both room and toilet are warm. Toiletries were abundance. Hotel staff from reception, room service to breakfast, are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too, with so many choices.
I can only praise. No complaints
Before check-out, the staff .passed us a bag with 4 bottles of water for our trip.
Thank you for your hospitalities.
PPengguna TetamuYourland Hotel is run and operated by a very hard working lady who essentially does everything herself - from welcoming guests, cooking breakfast, cleaning the rooms and washing the bed sheets & laundry. The rooms are very clean and neatly organised, it has all the comforts that any hiker should need in such a remote location that is high up in the mountains (e.g. electric blankets, warm showers, etc.) Please do note that the warm water does need sometime to reheat especially if another guest takes a shower right away after the first guest. It will not be sufficient time for the water heating machine to heat the water. You should take note of the number that is displayed on the water heater. By default in our room, it showed the number of 44 and after the first guest took the shower, it went down to 19. If someone takes a shower right away at that moment, it will be cold so the next person should wait a bit until the number displayed moves up.
The views in the morning are amazing as you can see the mountain ranges on three different sides so you get a very good panoramic view from the terrace of the hotel. After a long day of hiking, our moods were lightened up when we were welcomed by the friendly and playful Labrador Retriever whose name is Dou Dou. Such a lovely dog <3. I would recommend you to stay here if you are looking for a place to stay in Upper Yubeng, it's good base for your planned hikes to the Glacier Lake and Nise Ranch. The place might be a bit difficult to locate if you arrive in Yubeng late at night (like we did since we walked all the way from Ninong, which was really tiring), but once you get the gist of it, it's very easy to remember and locate.
