We spent 3 nights at this resort, which began our Costa Rica adventure. Upon arrival, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite! The room was large with refrigerator, balcony, sitting area, and a large bathroom (separate bathtub & shower). The hot springs were a welcome relaxation after days of hiking. The resort was an easy drive into La Fortuna. The staff was great - a wonderful beginning to our vacation!

The views are absolutely stunning and the hot springs marvellous but the facilities need an upgrade. Here are my suggestions: Improve ventilation in the bedrooms: - There is mildew/fungus growing on the walls in the bathroom - proof there is no ventilation, - Get rid of the hot tub/jacuzzi in the bedrooms - I doubt people use it given the hot springs in the park, yet they're an additional source of humidity and take up a lot of space. - Air the rooms so that they don't smell and feel like a cave. To facilitate this, install rigid nets on the glass window frames, to allow the outside air in and keep the bugs and insects out. I've seen this in plenty of other hotels. Improve the lighting in the bedrooms - the rooms are very dimly lit. Offer more reliable service - I requested a 6am wake-up call but reception called me at 6.23 am. The food is expensive for what it is. do not offer items that should not be served in an mountain area, for example the Caribbean seafood soup, which consisted of frozen seafood and was overpriced.

great place with wonderful views of the arenal, rainforest, and close to the trails. We stayed for 4 days. rooms were a decent size. Breakfast is great, and the food options are plenty. So is the food option for lunch and dinner; however, the town is only 4 km away. plenty of option there for food. This is also about 10-15 kms from the Fortuna waterfall. the hot springs on the location are great. the hottest at the top and getting slightly less warmer at the bottom. Our favorite activities are the canopy trails and the horse back riding. Both are available onsite. Michael is so good. He and another person (forgot the name :(; very good as well) made the canopy zipline a great experience. Horseback ride to the waterfall was great afternoon activity. we are going back for sure. the only complaint is the shower pressure. it is seriously low.

Stayed in room 404. Originally booked 4 nights 12/20 to 12/24 at the last minute through *******. Had a problem with the reservation and both the hotel and ******* reached out to fix the problem. ******* was rude and difficult to deal with so cancelled ******* and worked with Tanya the hotel reservation manager to rebook for three nights through the hotel. Arrived at the hotel and everything was great. Got a room upgrade to a larger 2 bedroom villa with two bathrooms, a small kitchen area and a private pool in the front. Gorgeous room and rainforest like grounds. Breakfast buffet was hot and exceptional with fresh food, fruit and service with views of Arenal. Really nice swim up bar with food service and room service. Excellent quality food for dinner. Restaurant service was very good, bar service was also very good with lots of cocktails and a swim up bar and food service. Beautiful grounds. Every room is a private villa. I’ve stayed at Tabocan, Baldi and other much pricier resorts during my many other different stays in La Fortuna and this one is far and away the best value. Looking forward to going back.

From the picturesque landscape to the Arenal volcano as a backdrop, Hotel Lomas del Volcán is worth five stars. Our room was in it's own bungalow, clean, comfortable and cozy. We had a large, spacious bathroom and balconies to the front and back of the bungalow. The grounds were impeccably manicured and the lush greenery and flowers just brought the paradise vibe. It was tranquil and just made me feel so much in harmony with nature. The front desk staff, tour scheduler, restaurant staff, porters were all friendly, polite and helpful and readily available. They always asked if you spoke Spanish and most could easily switch to English if necessary. The food was amazing! There was a wide variety of foods for breakfast and the wait staff there were smiling and bubbly. This is a dream location and our experience was top of the line. It was one of the best places, I've ever stayed at. Certainly value for money!

I visited the hotel for 3 nights with my wife. What an amazing experience we had! The couples rooms are extremely private, with an outdoor shower and a private jacuzzi on the balcony....the balcony is completely surrounded by deep forest, so its 100% private. Rooms have a a direct view of the volcano and the jungle. Its honestly impossible not to relax in this hotel. My only caveats about this hotel are the following: 1) There is a price to pay for sleeping in the middle of the jungle - the place is ~20 minutes away from town were all the restaurants and main attractions are...so either have a car, or be prepared to spend a bunch of money on cabs and arranges transportation 2) The breakfast options are not great, this is the only bad thing i have to say about the hotel experience. You will have basically the same limited options each morning 3) The path to the rooms is quite hilly - people with mobility issues might have a challenging experience (although the hotel personnel is EXTREMELY accommodating, and they have golf carts available to move you around). Thus, there is a very viable solution for people with limited mobility...just do consider the situation when booking. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would definitively recommend it!

SSabsKebabsHad the best stay here after a very disappointing stay at another property. Luis the property manager was so welcoming and attentive. The property itself is brand new, and tastefully done. Loved the hot tub, loved the towel and linen collection and really appreciated the rain shower.
It was a pleasant stay and highly recommended. We enjoyed coming back to the loft after a day of exploring.

WOW! I could leave the review at that but this place deserves much more praise! This is a luxury hotel and resort at its finest nestled in the rain forest and very close to Arenal volcano. This is not a hotel masquerading as a luxury one it is the real deal! From the moment we arrived to the day we left the experience was what you would come to expect from a luxury hotel and resort. The service from everyone was spot on and we never had a bad experience speaking with anyone. The attention to detail in the resort is not something I could describe into words or even pictures as being there and seeing this place in person is the only way to gauge how beautiful an magical this place is. And that's just the resort I'm currently speaking of. The hot springs are next level and something you would see in a movie or read about in a book. Even the restaurants at the resort blew us away with the quality of the food and presentation. Yes, yes with all this praise and talk of how luxurious this place is of course it will come attached with a luxurious price tag. My wife and I spent our 15th anniversary here and they went out of their way to make us feel like we were the only 2 people at the resort with service that was unmatched. Special shout-out to the Spa manager and staff for going the extra mile and making sure we got the true Tabacon spa experience! If you're trying to find a place to stay and are researching hot springs sure the free ones are okay but if you can shell out the extra money then stay here you will not be disappointed!

From the moment we walked out of our drivers vehicle we we treated as if we were the only guests staying on the property. All the staff went above and beyond taking care of all our needs the detail service is exquisite and that includes Bell Boy, Front Counter Staff, Restaurant Wait Staff, Pool Bartenders, they always addressed us by our names they always remained Professional and friendly while never compromising their detailed service . I must mention the Daily Breakfast spread was the best I’ve ever had . The selection of the fresh squeezed juices were delicious. We will definitely be back to be pampered in this amazing property and the next place we vacation will have very big shoes to fill. 💜💜💜

All the staff were super helpful and friendly. Not walking-distance from a lot of places but we had a car so no problem there. I would visit again.

PPengguna TetamuVery enjoyable experience. The hotel is in an idyllic spot. Lovely but small infinity pool and look outs to lake and volcano. Breakfast was OK and staff all very good. We were lucky enough to check in a few hours early, the staff prepared our room as we arrived earlier than expected. Many thanks. Rooms a bit tired really but great views from large windows and cleaners very good.

Hot springs were amazing, I love the option of having at least one of the hot springs open 24/7, they change it each night for cleaning purposes, they’re very strict on the towels, each one is literally accounted for otherwise there is a fee per towel, no big deal as long as you keep track, didn’t really need to carry a towel around anyway, the only downside I’d have to say was the Italian restaurant was much better then the buffet option, also the slides are pretty intense, I actually hurt my foot on one of them, but it didn’t stop the fun. Wish I were back there!

PPengguna TetamuMy tour operator booked me at Magic Mountain for the weekend on the last part of my trip after I came from Monteverde by ferry in Lake Arenal. The receptionists for all the days were great to me and helpful. My room was taken care of each day. A fridge was available to keep my drinks cold. The room had air conditioning when you need to turn it on. The bathroom had what I needed in fresh towels and a hair dryer, but my one criticism which I already let the receptionist know on my last day is that there needs to be a soap/shampoo/conditioner rack or holder in the shower as the only place to put these items is either on the floor or in a window ledge above you which is not ideal. The balcony view of the back of the hotel was really something when you can see Arenal Volcano in the background on clear days. The swimming pool area (with a bar right beside it) and hot tubs were nice to relax if you were not going out and wanted to hang around the hotel. Their restaurant is a nice place to eat if you did not want to go out, but at least the breakfast choices and service such as asking for a chef to make custom omelettes were very good. I think that sums up what I remember since a week ago. I can say overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Rooms are great (good air con, hot water, good storage); facilities superb (pool, business lounge, kitchen/food prep area, pool table, great bar); well organised trips (the zip line followed by hot springs is a must!); very helpful staff; and the food delicious (tuna steak with salad delightful)
