Le Clos Limeray is an old farm turned into a lovely b&b, with a great English speaking owner, who is also an excellent chef! If it's offered, I highly recommend joining the host for his 3 course meal with apéro as well, all wines are included too. He prefers to make his food from scratch, with local and organic ingredients. The rooms are cosy, the view is stunning, and it's nice and quiet, in the middle of vineyards. We enjoyed visiting nearby Amboise, the Chateau de Clos Lucé was a hit for the whole family, as well as the 2 hour canoeing adventure. We will return to this beautiful gem!

On the 15th May, 2024 we stayed at the Les Hauts de Loire (@h8collection) -part of the H8 Collection (@leshautsdeloire)- in Veuzain-sur Loire. During our stay our hotel room was broken into and we were robbed. At first the hotel refused to believe us and insisted on searching our car and the room for the items and then going through the security footage of our arrival before taking us seriously and finally investigating the matter. After many hours wasted, security footage showed that a man freely entered the hotel grounds through an unsecured gate next to the public road. He then entered the hotel while no one was at reception. The police and the hotel manager determined that he then entered the unlocked office of the manager and used a key to enter our hotel room and steal many valuable items. The manager admitted this openly to the police. The thief can be seen walking out with all of our items past several staff unchallenged. We lost our credit cards, passports and a number of luxury items that totaled over 24,000 euros. We had to rush back to Paris to get new passports, cancel all of our cards. Under French Civil Code this means the hotel was clearly negligent and therefore liable for our losses. However, the hotel’s response was pathetic. The H8 Collection @h8collection has refused to provide full compensation for our losses and instead hid behind their insurance company to deny our claim despite us spending considerable time providing proof of ownership and evidence of our losses. This was all ignored and the hotel insisted on receipts for items purchased more than 10 years ago - an impossible task that they knew would allow them to deny compensation. Afterwards the Director of H8 Collection stopped replying to our emails and ghosted us. We were left with no choice but to sue. To anyone reading this, DO NOT stay at any H8 Collection Hotel @h8collection or resort. Avoid H8 Collection @h8collection entirely. They simply do not care about their guests. While H8 Collection @h8collection, claims to be a high-end establishment, it is nothing of the sort. We had an excellent stay at the Chateau de Pray, right outside of Amboise. We stayed for 3 nights in August 2024 in order to explore the Loire Valley. As a family of 4 (two children ages 10 and 13), we appreciated the family room that had a king bed and two twin beds. The room was very comfortable, and even air conditioned. The kids LOVED the pool and we spent a couple of hours there each evening. We did not eat at the restaurant but had the room service on one night that the restaurant was closed and it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to the Loire valley with children and have a car (too far to walk to Amboise for public transportation). This was our favorite hotel in France!

Traditional French cuisine with a modern touch. Very cosy place. Great choice on the menu, very reasonably priced. Very friendly and kind welcome. There was a misunderstanding with our booking. Instead of sending us away they , since the restaurant was fully booked, they offered us aperitif while waiting for the first table to be available. And it was worth waiting! Delicious food , great local wine. Thanks to Chef and all his staff.

We had a spacious room. A large heated pool, one side of which is also significantly deeper than usual. The pool has a nice view of the castle and nature. There was a self-service refrigerator with soft drinks by the pool (for a fee). The house had a spacious lounge with a piano and billiards. In the corridor there is a large display with hunting trophies. The house and interior could use some updating in several places, but overall the condition is still OK. Amboise city centre with its many attractions is a 10-minute drive away. There are several castles in the immediate vicinity that are worth visiting. Since all the customer service in the hotel was done by one person, he was busy with his activities and he didn't want to help with booking table in a restaurant, but we got a prepared leaflet from him with information on recommended restaurants in the area. However, the information was in French and it turned out that most of the restaurants were closed that day and in several places the understanding of English over the phone was poor. With the help of the administrator, at least those places that were closed on that day could have been excluded from this list, or the information would have been printed in English. There is no refrigerator or minibar in the room. Sometimes you could hear what was going on in the next room too well, especially everything that was happening in the bathroom (even just splashing water). The sun loungers are already starting to fall apart and the board around the pool is quite old - it springs and rattles under the foot of a heavier person. Two different navigation programs do not know the location of this place, only Google Map found it, so do the preliminary work with the exact location of the hotel in advance, so as not to worry unnecessarily on the road (where there may be no internet). When you turn off the main road, there is a sign with a sign for the hotel, but for some reason you don't notice it well. The mobile internet was very weak there, the hotel's own Wi-Fi was OK in the house, but there was no coverage by the pool. There is no catering apart from breakfast. Breakfast is baguette, croissant, fruit, unflavoured yogurt and jam. The coffee is served in a press pot, which is of course much better than instant coffee, but it is still short of proper machine coffee, and for those who are used to drinking cappuccino in the morning, its absence is disappointing. Apparently, according to the French standard, the choice of breakfast is OK, but in the north we are brought up with the knowledge that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we don't eat sweets for breakfast. The pool opens (the cover on the pool is opened) in the morning at 11:40 (although, for example, the opening time is marked 08:00 on the Booking page) and check-out is no later than 11:30, that is, if you planned to use the pool in the morning before the cultural program or before check-out, it will not be possible.
