This is a great, friendly and comfortable hotel. Staff so helpful . Our reception on arrival was welcoming and friendly. Service at dinner was good and our meal was tasty and good value. Breakfast had a good buffet - plenty of cereal options, fresh fruit, yogurts and usual breads and pastries. Cooked options were excellent. Bedroom well furnished and decor pleasing. Quiet although near main road. Comfy beds. We were on a walking holiday - hotel very well placed for St Cuthbert’s Way and the Northumberland Coastal Path. Near Holy Island.

Stayed in the outbuildings. Twin room was roomy/comfortable and facilities were very good. Fantastic food with a varied menu & I can thoroughly recommend the breaded fish & home cooked steak pie. Very friendly staff. Definitely will revisit when we’re up this way again

How about “Be Considerate To The Customer “. We could not believe the appalling and rude attitude of a staff member. We booked a table and arrived at the designated time. Before we had even sat down, we were asked what we wanted to drink and this was brought to our table. The waitress said that she would give us a short time to look at the menu and would then take our order. 25 minutes later our order had still not been taken but the waitress was clearing the tables near us. Eventually we asked if she was going to take our order and she obviously went to get someone. A man came and asked if he could take our order and when we expressed our disappointment at having to wait so long, he told us in a very condescending manner that the kitchen was busy and that perhaps we would go elsewhere. We ordered a Sunday Roast, which would have already been cooked and it still took ages to appear. Another table of four came in some while after us and their order was taken quickly and the food came within a very short time. We felt we were treated as if we had done something wrong. We had intended to book for another evening as we are staying close by but we certainly will not be returning in a hurry.

This is our the first visit to Northumbria and Berwick. We have been driving over 200 miles for 5 hours and felt very exhausted. All we needed was just average service and a average warm room to spend the night in and not get frozen at the night. However, we could not get even such basic service needs. First of all, there is no elevator. Therefore, a person in a wheelchair will not be able to get to the room, there all the rooms are on the upper floors. Secondly, the stairs are very narrow, it is difficult to climb them with heavy bags. Thirdly, when you come to the room, the heating is supposedly working, but in the evening and at night, the owners turn off the heating completely and the room becomes very cold. We tried to draw the owners' attention to this, they said that in other rooms the guests were wearing T-shirts and that others were felt warm. So basically they just completely ignored that the fact that we were in outerwear in the room. They promised to increase the temperature from 22 to 24, although in reality the room was no more than 14-16 degrees, maybe 18 at most in the day time. And their thermostat is on the first floor, where it may or may not be 22 degrees. Aparently this is not about the thermostat but about them not willing to provide quality service to their guests. For a while the heaters did turn on and warm us, but then we woke up again in the middle of the night realizing that we were freezing again. The heaters in the room, in the bathroom were cold and in the corridor too. Maybe guest are expected to bring a portable heater with themselves or avoid this guest house because it's really very cold here. My auntie made a brilliant photo of the cold window from the room. I do not recommend living here unless you have a portable heater with you. Also, we wanted to pay in cash, but they already charged the card when we checked in, not when we checked out. When we tried to ask why they took the money on the day of check-in and not check-out, they were rude and told me that I was the first customer who complained about freezing in the room. And they started threatening to call the police and started kicking us out, even though we hadn't even taken our bags out of the room at that time. Usually when landlords fail customer expectation, they apologize and try to win back the customers trust but not in this case. Instead of apologizing for not being able to provide a basic quality service for such a price, they were rude to us and told us that we were rude. Unheard of rudeness. I have never seen such unheard of rudeness in any hotel or guest house. Yes, and they threatened to ban me from bed and breakfast hotels. I haven't been to other hotels in this area yet, if all hotels have such a rude attitude towards customers, then maybe it's for the best.
