We have just returned from a 3-night stay at Judd’s Folly and would like to say that we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our cottage was lovely, very clean and in beautiful surroundings. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food was great and overall it was excellent value for money. Thank you for helping us to have a relaxing, enjoyable stay.

We arrived at the hotel in the summer to a friendly welcome from the helpful and enthusiastic staff but with low expectations for our experience after reading previous reviews on this site. Accessing our room required a steep climb up several floors of stairs, as there was no lift, meaning elderly customers would need to book a room on the ground floor. The room was very clean, comfortable, cosy and more than adequate for our needs, and we all enjoyed a good night's sleep in the comfortable beds. We were very impressed with the standard of the food, which was beautifully cooked by the chef Buddhi, who would have easily qualified to work in a much higher grade restaurant, although there was limited choice for meals and no desserts on the menu, however what was available was thoroughly enjoyable. As we stayed under the half-board, which we found very worthwhile, the quality of the meals we had surpassed our expectations. The front of house staff member, Isuru, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and nothing seemed too much trouble for him; he was always approachable and catered to all our needs. However, we discovered a restaurant menu in our room which was out of date, so don't depend on this for the meals available. Overall, we found our stay very enjoyable, excellent value for money and the staff extremely personable, as well as the wonderful food. If you have realistic expectations and are looking for a comfortable, budget hotel for a family break or business trip, you will not be disappointed. We would definitely recommend. Made an overnight stay as a single person having pre-booked directly with the hotel. When booking, I set out several preferences for the type of room I wanted and my thanks to Linda and Martine on reception for sorting this all out for me quite perfectly. In addition, I was hosting a dinner party with several guests in the Brasserie that evening and they helped with all the arrangements for that. I stayed in a standard double room (room 8) which was comfortable and perfectly clean, with everything you’d expect from this class of hotel. The room was quiet and on the first floor overlooking gardens. Dinner with my friends that evening was a success with good food and service. Overall everything went very well. Finally, I have to mention that I rather stupidly left a shirt in the wardrobe in my room after leaving the hotel but, again, this time after speaking with Beth on reception at the hotel, she arranged for this to be posted back to me the same day. The staff at this hotel are really great.

Being obliged to come to the Sittingbourne area several times a year on business I’d have to say that in my experience the area has few decent hotels. This Holiday Inn is basically the best of a bad bunch but sadly it doesn’t make the most of its attributes it has. The building it occupies is modern with quite stylish semi-minimalist decor. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and also nicely decorated for a chain hotel. Parking is easy and check in is usually trouble free. What lets this hotel down though is the food and beverage offering and the accompanying service. The restaurant is somewhat bland and has no atmosphere. The menu is boring and would not be out of place in a Wetherspoons which is fine if you’re in a bargain basement Wetherspoons but not if you’re in a middle market hotel. On my latest visit I ordered a starter (which tuned out to be unavailable) followed by a sirloin steak. I also asked for a glass of wine (the server didn’t know which red wines they had) and a glass of water. The wine came but with no explanation of what it was. The water only materialised after I had to chase it up. The steak when it arrived was disappointing - lots of fat and somewhat tough and in no way worth £18. I couldn’t be bothered to stay for a dessert. This place may be a little off the tourist track and mostly frequented by business travelers like myself but it would I’m sure do a lot better if it sorted out the catering. Some candles on the tables in the evening, a bit more imagination on the menu, and attentive staff serving who appear to care what they are doing would represent a 100% improvement.
