PPengguna TetamuDefinitely the best hotel in Karuizawa! Exceptional service and beautiful accommodations that have made our experience truly memorable! The professional and caring nature of your staff has been remarkable, ensuring that every aspect of our stay feels personalized and welcoming.
The hotel's design and upkeep are also commendable. The elegant decor and well-maintained facilities have set a perfect backdrop for our romantic getaway, enhancing our overall enjoyment and comfort.
PPengguna Tanpa NamaHotel is in a great location, about 700m straightline walk from karuizawa train station. Room is compact but you have everything and is clean, amenities are provided at the lobby and you can take as needed, such as toner, cleanser and cream, hair brush, toothbrush, there's even body scrub. There's drinks provided for guests, you can have tea or coffee at all times. Hotel breakfast comes in brunch menu, food is nice and fresh. There's a also a lot of restaurants along this street so not to worry.
Aangelyu_97Stayed here mainly for skiing ⛷ and it was the best choice. You can take shuttle to go to the rental spot, shopping mall and metro station. You can even enjoy momiji onsen and the onsen at the west hotel after skiing, totally worth it. Highly recommend.
Ccloudy moonI Like the cleanliness of the hotel. Room is spacious. The front desk staff could communicate in English. Good if you drive there. Else, it’s a distance from the train station. St Paul church is just opposite of the hotel. There’s also a Japanese shin nearby. There are good bakery shops nearby for breakfast. We were there on 2 weekdays and there’s not many people and not many shops open. The restaurant next to it serves good pasta and pizza. We had our 2 dinners settled there. Karuizawa is a beautiful place. You may have a morning jog nearby and it’s so serene running around.
AAdamI stayed at this hotel with my wife and two children during a two-night trip to Karuizawa in early February. The hotel is around 100 years old and its claim to fame is that John Lennon has stayed there. The piano that he played on is still in the bar.
Location: The hotel is near Old Ginza Street and around a 15-minutes drive from Karuizawa station. It was not difficult to find, but you must navigate a narrow approach to the hotel which is icy at this time of the year, so you must drive carefully.
Cleaniness: The staff told me that the hotel was only recently and everything was very clean and in good condition.
Service: The receptionist that conducted the check-in was probably the Japanese that spoke the best English that I had encountered on this trip. He spent a lot of time explaining the hotel to our family. The porter was also very helpful and polite. When we asked for extra toothbrushes and slippers for the children, housekeeping was very prompt in delivering them and even brought some children's robes for my sons.
Facilities: The hotel did not have many facilities. There is a small shop, a bar and a french restaurant but not much else. Some rooms had private hot springs in them and they gave us the opportunity to upgrade. Our room, had a small balcony even though we were on the ground floor. It looked onto a wooded area so there was not much to see, especially at night. However, when it snowed the next morning, my kids loved going out and playing in the snow. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast. It was a simple American breakfast very well presented. It was very pleasurable to look out into the inner courtyard with it was snowing.
Overall: I like this hotel as it has a lot of character. It is architecturally attractive and has kept a lot of its charm despite renovation. The staff are very professional and polite. I would stay in this hotel again.
FFannyWe stayed in the cottage D, very old facilities, it’s a nice place but they should consider change their all appliances in the room, cos too old already. It’s very inconvenient that they don’t have a shuttle from cottage to lobby, we need to call them everytime we go out instead. The ski place was all man made snow, we were disappointed. We thought want to let the kids experience snow..
PPengguna TetamuWe had an amazing 2 nights stay here! Located about 5 minutes short walk from the train station, there were a convenience store and small supermarket directly across the hotel.
We weren't expecting much when we booked as the photos look dated and it was a last minute trip but oh mine, we were pleasantly surprised when we checked in. The room was large and although it was the old room, it had a certain charmimg character to it that we love. The bathroom was also big, clean and had a lovely large bathtub. I love the full range of toiletries they provided and was hoping to buy it in Tokyo to bring home but I couldn't.
There was a common area on the second floor where water, juice and coffee were provided and we bought our own sake in the evening and sat there. We spent two peaceful evenings here after dinner and it was lovely.
Our only complaint was the bed was rather soft and the pillows were flat. But we will definitely stay here again when we come back to Karuizawa.
RraywongwmWe had a wonderful stay in Karuizawa, with Marriot providing a good environment for our rest overnight. The hotel room is quite spacious though a bit old style. Short driving distance to all tourist spots nearby! The car park is good and was free! Will definitely come back again!
PPengguna TetamuI initially planned to book a two-night stay but was hesitant due to mixed reviews about the hotel. Instead, I opted to book for one night to see if it met my expectations, intending to decide later whether to extend my stay.
After dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, I made up my mind and chose to extend for an additional night.
The reception staff spoke good English, making the check-in process smooth. The set dinner and breakfast were delicious, with the restaurant staff being polite and attentive. I must commend the chef for the effort in creating varied menus for both dinner and breakfast each day of our stay.
The onsen was quiet and peaceful during my visit around 5 PM.
The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable; however, the lighting was too dim for my preference.
The only downside of my stay was the weak Wi-Fi signal, not just in the room but throughout most areas of the hotel.
