Ballinalacken Castle Country House Hotel

We had a wonderful 2 night stay here! The owners could not have been more wonderful and accommodating. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the castle tour was the cherry on top. I highly recommend staying here during your visit to the Cliffs of Moher!

Nestled majestically near the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, this enchanting castle hotel offers a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the most gracious and warm hosts, whose hospitality set the tone for a remarkable stay. The dining experience at this castle hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The dinner was a culinary masterpiece, with each dish artfully crafted and bursting with flavors. Ingredients sourced locally from the lush Irish countryside added a delightful freshness to every bite. After dinner every night these lovely hosts give a personal and unique tour of the castle located steps from the hotel. The room accommodations were luxurious and inviting, with tasteful decor that reflected the rich history of Ireland. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, enveloping us in soft linens and plush pillows. Overall, this hotel experience was by far the most enjoyable and pleasant place we have ever stayed. We wished we had booked our entire 2 week stay here.

It is an amazing place for a break. The view from our room was breathtaking, the weather also contributed. The hotel is well locate and near enough to everywhere nearby. Breakfast was delicious, and there is a particular table which you can see (if a good weather) the cliffs and a fantastic view from the ocean. Staff are extremely gentle and friendly and the room was gorgeous, extremely clean, comfortable and elegant. Highly recommended!

This place was AMAZING!!!!! My wife and I spent the day at the Cliffs of Moher and decided to find somewhere to stay and accidentally stumbled upon this place. And if you stay here, DEFINITELY reserve a table at the hotel restaurant! The food was impressively prepared and delicious, and the views of the Cliffs of Moher and the Atlantic coast were incredible, especially during sunset! The breakfast was delicious too, with numerous unique options to choose from! We ate breakfast in the alcove portion of the restaurant with impressive views of the castle. The staff was very warm and welcoming, and our room was very clean, spacious, and elegant. Our stop here became one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Ireland, and I would highly recommend it to anyone! Seriously, the views and the scenery here cannot be beat!

Beautiful property. We stayed in Room #8. You can see the ocean from a very spacious and well appointed room. On site restaurant is amazing. Castle tour at 6:30pm is amazing. Owner/proprietor Declan is a class act. Real value in the price and what you get.

The charming Ballinalacken Castle sits high on a hill overlooking the Atlantic, Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher and offers beautiful scenery, peace and warm hospitality. A warm Irish welcome is waiting for everyone who comes here, and you feel like friends when you leave because of the hospitality of Cecilia and Declan, who are always willing to help with whatever you need during your stay. Accommodations are very comfortable with spectacular views to the coast and Cliffs of Moher in many of the rooms. Beds are so comfy for a good night’s rest and warm towels are waiting for you in the morning in your bathroom. Breakfast filled us for the day, from the buffet table with the best raisin scones ever, to the hot hearty breakfast. Having dinner in their gourmet restaurant was a real treat. It was so good, we came back a second night. We thoroughly enjoyed the rack of lamb, chicken, salmon and vegetarian option. Save room for dessert, they’re all delicious. Declan does a very interesting historical tour of the castle. This is a special treat for guests learning about the people and living conditions of centuries ago. Getting to the top and enjoying a panoramic view of the area is fantastic. Denis’s Bar, named after the patriarch of the Ballinalacken, is a fun place to meet other guests, drink a pint, relax, have a nice chat and to thoroughly enjoy some delicious cocktails a la Daniel, the best barman! While I was sitting in the drawing room one cold rainy morning, Cecilia came in and started a peat fire for me. Little gestures like this is one of the reasons that I highly recommend staying here and why we return so often, their caring nature for their guests and hospitality for all.

Our stay at Ballinalacken Castel Hotel was wonderful. It is the type of experience you want when visiting the southwest coast of Ireland. We woke up in our cozy room to views of the sea and the lovely green landscape you dream of. This hotel has been in the same family since 1938. You will feel welcomed and cared for by them. Both dinner and breakfast were very good and they have a great wine selection too. One of our favorite parts of the hotel is the bar. Bartender, Daniel, makes great cocktails, but you can get a well poured Guinness too. Don’t forget to ask for a tour of the Castle. Declan knows the history and so many details of how and why it was built. It is one of just two of such castles left in the area. We loved it! You are just minutes away from Doolin where you can take the ferry to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher. We will certainly recommend Ballinalacken to our friends. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

This place is unbelievable. The views are stunning and with a private Castle on site, a must visit if you are going to visit the Doolin area and to see the Cliffs of Moher (20 minutes away) The dining room and staff were wonderful and food was excellent. My wife and I were in the UK for 12 days and this by far and away was our favorite part of the trip!

This was our first stop in the Ireland countryside and we were so impressed with our experience. The historical, family-owned and operated property was fantastic. We were fortunate to have a room in the original house - beautifully decorated, wonderful views, and very comfortable. The meals were delicious and we enjoyed meeting other guests in the dining room. The owner took a few of us on a private tour of the castle ruins - which was an unexpected treat! When visiting Ireland's west coast and going to the Cliffs of Moher, THIS is the place to stay!
