Stayed at the Tivoli in Lisbon which was a 5* and fulfilled expectations even though the hotel itself felt dated in the décor, the room, however, was spacious and well-appointed, and the dining room sumptuous with personable service. Arrived at the Palacio del Bailio, a 5* in Córdoba, expecting similar excellence, and was grossly disappointed. The reception personnel was efficient, but rather soulless. Some of the dining room staff did not feel like they should be working in a 5* hotel. They banged plates and dropped cutlery in a rather careless manner, chat loudly to each other, and projected an unsophisticated service style. The spa was marketed a lot more interesting than it actually was. The spa staff was strangely confused about our bookings and took a while to sort timing and treatments out, and the roman bath experience that looked so intriguing on their website turned out to be just 3 pools of differing temperatures and very little else in terms of amenities. Our room, basic level that it is, was fine except the goofy bathroom. It had two showers, one standalone and one attached to the bathtub. Problem is, the standalone shower took up half of the real estate on the toilet side, which means you have to be very thin and very small to get into the toilet stall. We are small folks, and still I banged my knees against the glass partition when I sit down and cracked my forehead when I stand up. Never had I to sit on the toilet on an angle with my legs half out of the stall door, just so I don’t bruise assorted body parts. A new experience never to be repeated. The sinks were also stylish-looking, but extremely impractical. Very little space to put anything, and no way to plug the drain so I don’t accidentally flush my contacts away. The hot water was iffy at times and took a long while to get warm let alone hot. A lot of water wasted just waiting for the hot water to come out. Overall an okay to frustrating stay, certainly not what 5* should be.

Fantastic location next to the Triunfo and the Mezquita. Charming place that is left somewhat ‘outdated’ on purpose. Staff: welcoming, professional, helpful. Clean. We had a BIG, three - bed room. Beds: adequate, but not-so-great for long or heavy people. Spanish breakfast, meaning sweets, bread and toast with coffee/ tea in the in- house pasteleria. Convenient: parking service for 25,= Euros a day. Hand car keys at front desk, tell them when you want your car back, and save yourself the ordeal of finding a spot in one of the few and far- between parking garages. Many great places to eat and drink within a four hundred meter radius. The automatic sliding door on the ground floor between the main corridor and the pasteleria has a very noisy engine, that can be heard throughout half the building in the early morning. ( A few silent block mountings could solve that problem)

We are a mature couple travelling around Spain and from the UK. The positives. The best of locations right in the old centre opposite the Mezquita. Modern hotel, good facilities, tv/shower (but no kettle). friendly staff. Adequate (just) buffet breakfast. The negatives. There is a grid/drain that smells awful in the tiny breakfast room that permeates the hotel including our first floor bedroom (103). Reception try to mask it with air spray or leaving front door open. The hotel rooms are over a Burger King that stays open past 1.a.m. So there is a lot of noise as passersby sit, yell, shout etc. until late evening. (Bins are emptied around 12.30 a.m. but that is the same for everyone). Not much space in room, one draw and 3 wall hangers so expect to live out of your case. Summary, brilliant location, good facilities but dreadful smell and a lot of noise. You make your choice.

Perfect location, right opposite the mosque-cathedral. Very friendly and helpful staff. However, the room was supposed to be sound-proofed and it most definitely wasn't. Luckily I had ear plugs, but despite using them I got woken up early on Sunday morning by some of the guests in the hall. Shower is a bit of a disaster as it's impossible to wash without soaking the mat and floor. Bed a bit small, we're both 1.80 m tall and our feet stuck out of the bottom. Shame really because it's a nice place, but if could do with some improvement. Breakfast OK. Good coffee

My daughter and I stayed here for one night as part of a motorcycle tour of Andalucia (thurs 12 5 23). The location is superb. It is across a narrow street from Cordoba's grand mosque 40 yards from the bell tower. Because of this it is easy to find. Hotel guests can drive on the restricted access road around the mosque to get to the hotel. It has its own car park underground, which has plenty of space. The young staff are excellent and the hotel is very beautiful. Breakfast is basic but of very good quality. If you need more, there are many cafes etc nearby.

We asked for a quiet room and were. happy with one at the back of the hotel. Very comfortable spacious beds and good over-bath shower. Reasonable buffet choice at breakfast though the dining room can get very busy at times with tour groups. Freshly squeezed orange juice - delicious! Internet reception in the rooms is intermittent and not great and the rooms can get quite hot. We pulled the blackout curtains after the room had been made up for the day and that helped as did opening the windows at night. There’s a notice saying they maintain the rooms between 19C in winter and 27C in summer. 27C seems rather warm for comfortably sleeping. However the staff are very helpful and the location ideal, so all in all, a good choice, if you book knowing these caveats.

Hola es la segunda vez que bamos a Córdoba. Y esta sin duda alguna la mejor nos alojamos en este hostal y la verdad que nos hemos ido súper contentos el sitio es espectacular muy limpio y con una bonita decoración. El sitio muy céntrico y ya no hablemos del dueño manolo y familia unas personas encantadoras hasta pronto

Hotel in una posizione strategica, camere un po’ vecchiotte e le tubature del bagno puzzavano troppo, il personale sorridente ma per avere i servizi bisogna chiedere esplicitamente… esempio la valigia da caricare in macchina nel parcheggio l’ho dovuto chiedere e sembravano quasi scocciati. Acquistato stanza singola con bagno. Prezzo 96 euro per una notte! La stanza, oltre ad essere spartana, aveva un tavolo, un comodino ed una sedia da usare come comodino. Arredata con vecchiume, ruggine ovunque ed impianti elettrici volanti. Per farsi un bidè bisogna stare attenti alla schiena perché incastrato tra il lavandino. Letto largo 140 che definiscono matrimoniale, con un materasso durissimo. Wifi come se non ci fosse. Unico punto a favore la centralità, ma la stanza è da una stalla più che una stella ovviamente in relazione al PREZZO! Per non parlare dell'irraggiungibilità in auto! Avevamo un bagaglio pesante che abbiamo trascinato dalla reception sino all'alloggio (non sono nello stesso luogo) su ciottoli rompendo la valigia! Mai più.

Fabulous hotel in a great location. We booked last minute & were pleasantly surprised by this modern hotel. Situated very centrally for sightseeing & a very helpful Receptionist. Only negative was you can hear people in other rooms - & it’s a roadside location so you can here people passing but we were staying at a busy time of year & there was no noise from midnight, plus this was a very reasonably priced Hotel - if you want silence you’d need to pick a lot more expensive Hotel/location.
