El Dorado Hotel

The lobby was very comfortable to relax in with a huge couch and excellent helpful customer service. The room was equally comfy with an extraordinary bed. Being on the 5th floor enabled me to have an exceptional view whereas it felt like I was too high for any of the people in smaller buildings or residences to actually see in my room with the curtains wide open. The shower was huge with hot water. I even enjoyed wearing the robe that was supplied in the bathroom. Did I mention how deliciously comfortable the bed was!?! The complimentary breakfast included many Ecuadorian treats and even some American favorites as well (omelette made to order and pancakes on one of the days).

If you want a historic building with quaint rooms this is not the place for you. On the other hand if you want a fairly priced room (with a very small bathroom) a couple of minutes walk to central square, great cooked to order breakfast and great service the El Dorado is it. From the moment I contacted the hotel to arrange for the airport shuttle pick to the hotel I knew that customer service and guest comfort were important for the hotel. During our stay the staff that went out of their way to be helpful and hospitable. The two bed room was not huge, but functional. The bathroom was small: a sink, toilet and shower-all 3 in a tight row made for a tight fit. Reminded me of old hotels bathrooms in Europe. But the location of the hotel and convenience to central Square, restaurants and tourist attractions with a great price is super value and worth the tradeoffs. In any event, we were comfortable in the room. We really enjoyed our breakasts - they offered kitchen prepared to order eggs, ceviches, Ecuadorian specialties like plantains with cheese. Breakfast service was great especially on the weekend. Our host/server Pamela was really helpful and friendly and got our day off to a great start. Also, a tip of the hat to Martin who picked us up from the airport and was helpful beyond our expectations throughout our stay. He truly is a gem! We also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. Nicely prepared meal with huge portions that we simply could not eat all of it. Service was attentive and our host/bar tender makes a mean (great) pisco sour! I am really happy with our stay at the El Dorado. I will stay here again for the convenient location, super staff and great service.

We enjoyed staying in this hotel. It is situated in the very center, everything is close. Our room was comfortable. Breakfast was fairly good. Service was perfect, all our requests were responded quickly.

Localização impecável, no Centro Histórico da cidade, rodeado de bonitos prédios, a curtíssima distancia do parque Calderon ( praça principal) . Mas falta charme ao hotel. Aquele algo a mais que a gente espera de um hotel em prédio historico. Uma pena!. Um bobby bem sem graça. Bons quarto e banheiro ( amenities ruins) . Elevador pequeno. Café da manhã muito bom

El hotel muy limpio, excelente ubicación (a cuadra y media del Parque Calderón), la habitación muy cómoda y tenía todo lo necesario (colchas extras, almohadas cómodas), el baño muy limpio y muy completo con agua caliente hasta en el lavamanos. El desayuno estuvo excelente, muy variado, los huevos los preparan al momento y a gusto de la persona. Volveré la próxima vez que vaya a Cuenca.

Hotel remodelado recientemente, con decoración tipo cadena, sobria y llena de detalles. Habitaciones limpias, baño impecable con extraordinaria presión de agua, muy buen colchón. Como sugerencia deberían tener almohadas igual de confortables para que la experiencia sea completa. La atención en la recepción es bastante básica. Tiene gimnasio y previa coordinación se puede contar con servicio de masaje y sauna. La ubicación del hotel es inmejorable, a una cuadra del parque Calderón. Sin duda un lugar para regresar.
