Hotel di Drogenbos

Hôtel très basique. Bonne literie mais c'est le seul point positif. La chambre empestait l'odeur de tabac ! Du coup, nous avons dû laisser la fenêtre ouverte assez longtemps pour tenter de l'estomper un peu. Salle de bain archaïque, pas très propre avec un lavabo fêlé. Petit déjeuner beaucoup trop cher pour la prestation proposée. Pour une nuit, ça passe mais c'est tout !

Lovely location , secluded from the city and a perfect getaway from reality to get in touch with who you are. The Cinq Mondes Spa provides some elevating body massages and then hiking through the Sonian Forest in the morning was absolutely amazing and breathtaking

I booked the hotel for 2 nights for myself and friends. The whole hotel experience was really good . Staff were very friendly, Abel was very helpful and kind The hotel is close to the centre about 15 mins walk, where you can enjoy some attractions .

Excellent location, very convenient for public transport and next door to the very lively Chatelein area. Very reasonably priced. However the ”Style” element is a bit faded imho: the whole hotel as well as the rooms are in bad need of a good refurbishment to reach the level of perfection it could easily achieve.

I had absolutely no real issues with this hotel whatsoever. It didn’t really set my heart alight but considering the excellent price, the proximity to the city centre, the excellent transport links and the overall cleanliness (including sweet scented foyer!), I would rate it more than average. I mean, I booked this just a week in advance and by no means felt shortchanged for my three-night stay. It really was great value for money next to similar hotels nearer the centre. Thank you.

4 of us stayed here in a quad room which was surprisingly very spacious. The hotel is located within walking distance from Bruxelles-Midi Brussel-Zuid train station and bus depot where we caught the Flixibus. At the time the hotel was surrounded in scaffolding and looked like a building site but on entry the inside was clean although slightly cluttered as there was a lot in such a small reception. As you entered, a massive information stand stood separating the reception from the narrow breakfast area. The wooden reception area looked welcoming as lots of plants around and interesting pictures on the wall. Check in was quick & easy. The smallest and oddest lift and I've ever been in took us 2 at a time to the narrow corridors where we found our room. As we entered the room, there was a single bed to the left and the bathroom on the right. Long side the bed was a mirror and at the end of the bed was a chair, a large 5-headed lamp and a desk that held a fridge on one side with a flat screen TV above the desk. The TV could not be properly viewed from the single bed as it was in line with it so it would have probably been best viewed if the TV was placed in the corner for all sleeping areas to view. In front of the desk was a large L-shaped settee which was also wrongly set up to watch the TV as half of the settee meant you had your back to the TV. The settee was used as a bed and situated by a coffee table under a large window that had a city view. To the left of the settee was the large double bed with a headboard that had built in bedside drawers with bedside lamps on each one. Opposite the settee was a large, old-fashioned double wardrobe. There was another window in the room that was small and showed a small balcony which you couldn't access. The mosaic bathroom has 2 sinks with a glass shelf and a large mirror above plus a hairdryer next to them. There was also a bath with a shower hose attached to the bath taps and another small window viewing the inaccessible balcony. We didn't have breakfast but the breakfast area looked clean and basic with a coffee and vending machine and all with table settings for 2. At the end of the breakfast area was a large garden with some artistic statues and at the beginning was a small lounge area with armchairs and a coffee table. The hotel was also located within walking distance to the main shopping, restaurants, bars and club areas.

In short, a dump for €170 per night (regardless of the rate they advertise). Long version: I checked into a 5th floor room at just after 2pm in mid-October. The only window, which opened to the roof, was open and it was about 10C outside and maybe 15C in the room - too cold to be comfortable. I noticed the smell of sewage. I’m tall, so I looked out the open roof window and could see a sewer roof vent about one meter from the open window. I immediately closed the window and turned on the radiator to “4” (full on) to warm the room up. 15 minutes after, I could smell mold or mildew in the room, possibly from the carpet - hence the open window. I attempted to work on my laptop but the Wi-Fi dropped out every 10-15 minutes. I tried 4 different Wi-Fi’s in the hotel and had the same problems. After 30 minutes, I checked the radiator - stone cold. I went back to the front desk and described the Wi-Fi problem. Response - “nothing I can do but I called the IT guy.” Fair enough. I asked about there being no heat in the room. Response “ give it an hour or two.” I left to explore a bit and had dinner. I returned at 8pm. Different guy at the front desk. Still no Wi-Fi with a stable connection. Still no room heat, and it was getting colder outside and in the room. I went back to the front desk. Responses were “I’ll get the IT guy to fix the Wi-Fi” and “give the radiator an hour or two to warm up”. I replied that I had given the radiator over 4 hours to warm up and the supply lines to the radiator were cold. I asked to be moved to a room with heat and and he said “nothing I can do”. I asked for them to check the furnace and they had nobody who could do that. Perhaps heat was out for the entire hotel and they were still booking and charging rooms on a cold October day. Who knows? I checked out (or attempted to) at 10 pm same day and requested a full refund. They had charged me a full three nights stay immediately upon check-in for a dingy, smelly hotel room without heat in late Autumn. In the end, they refused to refund any of the stay despite not being able to provide a heated room in mid-October in Brussels. What a dump. Save your money. There is a decent hotel 3 blocks away with both Wi-Fi and working room heat.

I’m surprised by some of the bad reviews. I will make this my new go-to hotel in Brussels. Staff was friendly. Our room was lovely- high ceilings and period details. The location is excellent- a real local neighborhood but walking distance from the touristy center and train station. Breakfast looked good although we didn’t use it. The one thing is that there is a lot of variety among the rooms. Some have retained authentic 19th century decor and ceilings- others are bland modern renovations. If you like peace and quiet, the ones in the courtyard dependance might suit you. Oh and it definitely has an elevator.

it was very cozy & nice hotel, not expensive at all. All staff are gentle. but it was shame that I found a cup with colored water on the desk, maybe someone drunk. anyway myabe I will stay next time.
