Not the best location but not much choice due to rugby weekend. Room was too hot even with Aircon on all night! Not real toilet roll, at over £200 a night I’d expect a little better in bathroom. Hairdryer also terrible. Wouldn’t return to this venue, stayed in Princess St which was surprising better! Parking also an issue, £42 for over night, app didn’t work so paper ticket issued, no deal to be had! Should have booked a hotel with carpark for extra £20!

+ve things Staff all polite. Food offering (only tried the breakfast) fairly average but reasonable value. Location okay for reaching the city sights and amenities. -ve things Room was unnecessarily noisy - external noise from the road and refuse collections, even with windows 'closed' - poorly sealed we think). This was made worse, particularly on the last night of our stay (30/10) when, in addition there was persistent banging noise from adjacent rooms (doors being banged or some sort of wind-activated noise through the air-con ducting?) which went on from around 11pm through into the early hours of the morning. Very disturbing. Had it not been our last night we would have asked to be moved.

Very poor food service because simply not enough staff. Firefighting at breakfast as entire cooked breakfast ran out instead of continually replacing items s ran out. No one to clear tables so people put in bar and uncleared tables left emptying. Dinner . Long wait and wrong meals came which were sent back. No staff to serve at bar and other people became frustrated at wait and wandering around looking for staff. Rooms ok though

Stayed at many Premier Inns. This is in a great location and the room is what I expected. That's the good bits. The breakfast and customer service lets the brand down badly. The quality of breakfast items was of a low standard, we didn't eat at breakfast on our last day, we just couldn't face it. There didn't seem to be enough staff around and those what were didn't seem to be present enough.

As you'd expect from a Premier Inn, room was good and bed comfy. The attached restaurant and bar was very poor though. Had to wait 10 minutes to be served a pint as no one was there. Was booked in for breakfast. Poorly stocked and barely edible. So bad in fact that on our final morning, we cut our losses and ate elsewhere.

Premier Inn is usually my first option when staying in a city as it’s reliable but we DO NOT recommend this venue. Breakfasts were terrible, most parts of the cooked breakfast unavailable together and when they (mostly) arrived they ran out of plates. Understaffed especially on the Saturday morning. Shower unsuitable for anyone over 5’6 to stand under the water. Very poor experience.

I'll start by saying that the location of this hotel was great. We stayed here for Edinburgh Fringe, mainly shows at Bristo Square, and it was in perfect walking distance at probably 10 minutes. It was a straight main road too, which felt safe coming home in the dark. The hotel, however, was tired, rundown and the service bad. When we arrived to check in, we stood waiting for ages as one receptionist checked someone else in and the other sat doing nothing. I'm sure they knew we were there, but they didn't call us forward or bother to acknowledge us at all. When we did eventually check in, he barely told us any information and we had to ask what time breakfast was etc. The room was standard for Premier Inn, and I have to say that the bathroom was very clean. The thermostat didn't work and the room was freezing, when I tried to turn on the heat it actually blew out cold air!! I slept fine, but my mum was troubled by traffic noise, as it's worth mentioning that this hotel is situated on a main crossroads. When we returned to the hotel that evening at about 10pm, we went to the bar for a drink and some crisps. There was nobody at all manning the bar and we stood for easily 5 minutes as we could see the receptionists sat there chatting through a door. Another gentleman had to go around and tell them that we needed service. The bar was also quite badly lit and didn't feel inviting. Breakfast was nice, the usual for Premier Inn. However, hot food counter wasn't as big as other Premier Inns I've been to, and there was no scrambled egg! It was here in the daylight that we realised how rundown and tired the hotel was. Really outdated furniture in the reception area, scratches on the counters, dirty mirror in the lift. And in the breakfast room, the blinds were being held up by clamps. This hotel was in need of a good clean or complete overhaul. Upon checking out, we voiced these concerns to the receptionist, who looked completely vacant and called upon a gentleman who was very dismissive of our concerns. We told him that my mum didn't sleep and that we weren't happy with the service we'd received - he brushed us off and told us to contact Premier Inn online. A word of warning - Premier Inn customer service sucks. If you have a complaint, I wouldn't bother. It took a whole month for them to respond and when they did it was accusatory and unhelpful. They said we should have got up in the middle of the night and told reception about not sleeping and the broken thermostat - who does that?? We weren't prepared to switch rooms at 2am! They refunded our breakfast, which was the least of our problems and felt like they were just trying to get rid of us, and that they hadn't read our complaint properly! We responded to this and they replied with a very blunt email saying that they think this refund is fair. This is a central hotel. We managed to walk easily to the old town and castle. The hotel is in great condition. The room was spacious and quiet for city centre location in a main road. Air con worked. Bed was comfy and room clean. Staff at breakfast seemed busy cleaning tables but struggled with keeping things restocked. Other than waiting for food and drink refills it was fine. It is what you expect nothing glamorous but it’s a great sleep and exactly what is promised.

Sorry but would not entertain staying here again. On initially booking in we were told our room wasn't ready. It looked, to us, as though they couldnt even find our booking. The room was as you would expect from a Premier Inn, could do with a little decorating. After getting settled in we decided to return to the bar for a drink prior to going out for our meal. We asked for Rhubarb Gin but only half an inch left in the bottle so decided on Aperol Spritz but unfortunately only half inch left in that one too. Do they only stock one bottle of each? Hence we went out. Although we hadn't booked for breakfast we were told we could just turn up. We turned up at 8:45 a.m. for continental breakfast. After paying and looking at what there was on offer we thought we'd be going hungry. Everything looked bare and needed replenished. Items weren't in easy reach of a 5ft odd person. When visiting other Premier Inns I've noticed them replenishing items all the time. There was half an inch of berries in a bowl, a small amount of bread and crumpets and that was it. It was only later that we realised there were croissants, but these were above our head height. There were a couple of tables vacant but those that weren't occupied still had all the dishes left on them. They did come and replenish the fruit. We managed to get a couple of crumpets but no plates available so had to use bowls. We did ask for plates but were told we'd get them after the staff member had replenished the bread. I'm not sure what one woman asked for but she was abruptly told " there isn't any". She went away disgruntled. It wasn't long after that another woman asked for sugar and was told "we haven't any". She ended up getting some from the Reception area. On leaving the hotel we realised why rooms weren't ready. One cleaner, hoover running, was scrolling through his phone in the hallway whilst another was standing scrolling through his in the stock room. Sorry Premier Inn, but you had a lot of disgruntled visitors, with every right to be so.
