Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural

We actually spent time here twice last year. Once in April and then again in November.Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural is located out in the Algarve countryside. It is, somewhat isolated, which lends to its charm, but it is not far away from centres such as Olhao or Faro. A car is definitely required, and if you are to do proper justice to the area, you will need one anyway. There is ample free parking to park your vehicle. A GPS will be required to find it the first time, but after that, it is a cinch and well worth booking a stay. This is a very well run establishment. The surroundings are truly beautiful. This includes the well kept grounds and of course, its rural setting. The facilities, and the rooms themselves, are all well kept and complete. There are, I think seven, large rooms, all but two have a small, ample kitchen. We enjoy grocery shopping locally and preparing our own meals, so very convenient. As it is, our host, Antonio provides a very complete breakfast, farm fresh eggs and a nice selection of local breads, etc. If this not to your "taste", then you aren't that far from nearby restaurants or cafes. The rooms are large and comfortable, complete with balconies, looking out on the surrounding hills. The beds/bedding are very comfortable. There is good free wifi, the rooms also have television. There is also a well maintained swimming pool, set in very pleasant grounds. Quinta do Mocho is an inviting place to come back to, whether after a day at the beach or a site seeing excursion. Indeed, If you are staying here for a while, (why not), you could spend the day here to just relax. But.... You are not here to just relax, there is just too much to see. Quinta do Mocho is close to, as previously noted, Olhao and Faro. These are large centres ca. 45,000 to 60,000 people. There is much to see and do in these cities. For example, Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, old churches, great markets, etc. A drive to some of the hill towns is also in order, Alte, Silves (Castelo de Silves, 8th century Moorish castle), Tavira, Loule, Fuseta (Praia da Fuseta) and close the close by town of Estoi. One interesting feature to see here, is the first century Roman Villa of Milreu ruins. Antonio will gladly add to this very incomplete list! We even took an excursion into Parque Nacional de Donna, just across the Spanish border. A bit of a drive, but doable. The area has much to offer and being quite far south, the weather has much good to offer, even in the off season. Staying at Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural is a good choice and we will be back.

We had such a good time at the Mocho Resort! Rich breakfast, either sweet or led by top grade omelettes with Km0 eggs - the chickens of Antonio and Dila are the only workaholic around. It's a bucolic treat and the swimming pool offers a fresh nap under the trees as well as beds under the sun. An interesting ping pong table on the terrace is there for real sportsmen (far enough from bedrooms). And if you have a problem Antonio is always there to help you solve it

Very warm friendly welcome. Wonderful accommodation with a swimming pool. Peaceful calm surroundings in the middle of nowhere. Very clean large room. Spacious bathroom with large shower. Room had a sofa and a small kitchenette with everything you need including a kettle! Bed was too firm for me so I put the spare duvet on the mattress which resolved the issue. Owner offered us sandwiches and beers on our arrival. Wonderful buffet breakfast offering meats, cheeses, toast, desserts and loads more. Please note: The approach road is a dirt track. Please don’t be put off, you are going the right way. If you haven’t hit a dirt road then you haven’t got there yet! Please note that the roads generally are very narrow so watch your speed. The accommodation is a large yellow building ahead of you. Also the owners have a large fluffy German Shepard dog. Please don’t be alarmed. He doesn’t jump up or bark. He will approach you just to say hello and likes a little stroke. I visit Portugal every year to see my father and I will now be making this wonderful place our place to stay.

Mr. Antonio and his wife are great people, always laughing and chatting. He gave us the best Algarve advice for visiting and eating. Hope to see you again. About the Quinta, it is super beautiful, charming, the rooms are big, beautiful and clean, as well as the bathrooms. At the end of the day there is a beautiful sunset, which can be enjoyed from the pool.

Such an amazing place to stay specially if you want something special and quiet place. Close to Faro, only few minutes by car. We had perfect time here. Everything was clean and the owner is very helpful and kind person. Breakfast was 5* If we come back again we will stay here again.

Excellent welcoming by Maria and Antonio, excellent service offered; big, comfortable and modern rooms; calm of the countryside; great swimming pool; excellent breakfast and even lunch or dinner if required with very good Portuguese products… a place to discover for sure!
