Tropical Village Guest House

Long review warning!! Just back from my first stay at Tropical Village (and Maldives) with my daughter, and it won't be my last! She has been before in 2019 to Tropical Village. We are both fairly well-travelled and this was truly an amazing holiday which is ideal for those looking for a truly authentic experience of the Maldives at an affordable price. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, who go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. Big shout out to Ja Bu the manager. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he genuinely wants you to have a great time. The same goes for Bob and Zidan who made our holiday so special. The rooms are large and very clean with a king size bed and open air bathroom with shower. There is air con in the room, a mini-fridge with drinks, a kettle with tea/coffee sachets, and a hairdryer. The rooms were easily comparable to some 4 star hotels I have stayed in in other places and were cleaned everyday. Our meals were very tasty and we had lots of the locally sourced fish. The chef was very accommodating to requests. We asked to try a traditional Maldivian curry so chef made this for us one night and used less spice in the one for me as I don't do really spicy! Although alcohol isn't permitted on the island, there is a floating bar approx. 15 mins away by speedboat if you fancy a tipple. This was a lovely old French ship with a great selection of alcoholic drinks that can be legally served as it's not on dry land. The island is very natural and unspoilt by tourism, there are no souvenir shops and the two little local stores have an amazing stock of products if you run short of anything. The bikini beach is just a few minutes walk (or swim!) away but there is also a beach right outside Tropical Village where you can swim, snorkel and sunbathe in shorts and t-shirt/rash vest. There is some house reef around the island and we saw stingrays and other fish. The excursions were truly fantastic. As a weak swimmer I felt totally confident with Bob who was able to literally guide me through the reef to ensure I saw everything that I would otherwise probably have missed. Zidan is also an expert swimmer/free diver and both were very knowledgeable about all the marine life and islands. We also did a sailboat trip which was very relaxing, and a magical sand bank trip where we had a very close encounter with a turtle. My daughter also went night snorkelling. We didn't particularly want to do any diving whilst here but did ask about it. Although there isn't currently a diving school on the island, there is diving available either from a nearby island, or if there's a few people who want to dive, it might even be possible to arrange this to go out from Fehendhoo itself. L'isola è molto bella e caratteristica con una spiaggia da cartolina. La struttura è piccola e molto accogliente. Il personale è discreto e sempre disponibile. Siamo stati accolti come in famiglia e ci hanno permesso di conoscere anche le usanze locali. Vacanza rilassante e a contatto con una natura meravigliosda.
