Gotyk House

The hotel is nice. It’s just near the Church and if you like history, it’s really good to go.

我們大概早上9點左右就到飯店checking ,但可能前一晚無人入住所以櫃檯小哥就讓我們提早入房（可遇不可求，請勿無理要求）入住時還送了一個飯店外觀的磁鐵😍毛巾上的牛奶糖超好吃 飯店座落在聖瑪麗教堂旁，外面就是琥珀街，有蠻多飾品可以選擇買回去當禮物，價格不貴又漂亮。步行5-10分鐘就是廣場區，有很多餐廳、酒吧可選擇，離河邊也不遠。步行3分鐘就有Rossmann (類似藥妝店+超商）可買各種生活必需品。 離Gdańsk Głowny 火車站步行遠20分鐘，搭計程車大約10-15PLN ，若要從飯店叫Uber or Bolt去其他地方必須走去外圍一點設定pickup point . 個人整體住宿體驗都很好但因此飯店無電梯可能不太適合長者。

I had a good stay, but could have kicked myself for not noting that the deluxe rooms (which I’d booked) were in a modern annex adjacent to the hotel. A pity because for me the attraction of staying at Gotyk House was its quirk, character and history, being the oldest tenement building in the city. Hey Ho! The location is great, arguably the prettiest street in Gdansk, and right next door to the Basilica. My room was a reasonable size, with a big window overlooking said Basilica. Comfy bed, plenty of electrical sockets, a kettle for tea/coffee making (but no milk) and a mini fridge (empty). WiFi worked well. I could hear a little bit of street activity, but not enough to impede sleep. Complimentary bottled water was supplied but no bottle opener with which to open it. The hotel reception is only manned until 6pm so it was necessary to check in before then. Room cleaning is only by request. Breakfast (which I didn’t opt for) is served in the Mexican restaurant adjacent to the hotel annex.

My priorities (in addition to safety, comfort, & affordability) when researching accommodations anywhere I travel include uniqueness & historical significance. I definitely picked a winner with Gotyk House! According to a Gdansk city guide, it's the oldest house in the city (built in 1451 C.E.) & was purportedly the only tenement house left unscathed by WW2 (at least on Ulica Mariaska). What a find! Located right next to St. Mary's Basilica - believed to be the largest brick church in the world - it's convenient walking distance to all Old Town sights, as well as nearby grocery stores & other necessities. My room (#3? or #4?) was a generous size with comfortable furnishings, historic decor, large bathroom, & restful space, especially when the surprisingly soothing (not clanging) church bells rang throughout the day. And the service was exceptional! (They even offer to wash & dry your laundry for a mere 60zl/$15USD which, by the end of a long trip throughout several countries, was a huge bonus!) Wiktoria, who checked me in, was so incredibly kind & helpful, especially when I mentioned that I'd accidently left my phone in a ride-share car in another city. She helped me spring into action to, hopefully, get it back. Without her assistance, persistence, & encouragement, I might have never seen my phone again. I also really enjoyed our numerous conversations, during which I learned a lot about the area, & appreciated all her amazing activity & restaurant recommendations. Gotyk House is now my go-to place to stay anytime I'm in the Tri-city region of Poland.

Very updated and clean. Nice bed. Great location. Showere never held temperature and flooded the bathroom floor after every shower. Very small! didn't have space to put suitcase and bathroom toiletries. When they said breakfast available - the restuarant attached didn't open until 9 AM and the staff didn't seem to agree on when it would open?

Chose this hotel based on previous ratings, clearly not living up to its reputation. Front desk personnel mostly absent and not helpful in any way. No clean up of the room during the stay. No air conditioning in the room, would get quite hot; also the location is awesome but very noisy, so opening the windows is not ideal. Bad smells coming from the bathroom. Use your money elsewhere!
