Prima hotel, simpele maar nette en schone kamer. Wij zaten niet in het hoofdgebouw maar in het bijgebouw. Helaas waren het ook twee aparte bedden, van te voren wel een tweepersoonsbed aangevraagd maar toen werd er al aangegeven dit niet te kunnen beloven. De ligging van het hotel is geweldig, midden in het centrum.

Personeel - prettige 24 uurs receptie, aardige mensen. Hygiene - de kamer was brandschoon. Kamer - fijne ruime kamer. Föhn werkte goed, badkamer was erg prettig. Verder genoeg mogelijkheden om spullen op te bergen. Spiegels en koffiezet apparaat en waterkoker. Ligging- perfect, midden in het centrum. Parkeren met P en R (bijvoorbeeld Decathlon) is aan te raden, volledig gratis.

A very disappointing stay at Novotel Centrum. Pros - Location. You can't get a better location. Close to everything including lots of eateries at your doorstep. Cons: Customer service - the customer service was the worst I've experienced in a long time. The staff were disinterested and rude. We checked in and I came down to advise that there were no baby beds in the room even though we had requested them well in advance and in all correspondence with the hotel before arriving. I was greeted with 'Hi, are you checking in' by the same person who checked me in no more than five minutes earlier. I would have accepted this but it happened again the next time I approached the reception desk. It was not a busy period for the hotel. I was rudely told off for asking again when I came downstairs to double check a second baby bed was indeed coming as only one had been delivered to the room in the time between first enquiring. I also made another enquiry during our stay and the staff member said they would provide me the answer but never got back to me. Room The room itself was dark and very old. I didn't want to spend any time in there. The rooms haven't been updated for a very long time and due to this the room felt dusty and not very clean. When the baby beds did arrive, one was in good condition and the other was in a terrible state. The material keeping the bed together was ripped in a number of places and the mattress itself was basically split in half due to being folded up so many times. I understand that baby beds are complementary, but this was not acceptable. When the rooms were cleaned, they only did a very surface level clean. Things weren't replaced and not all the rubbish was collected. Amenities We paid for breakfast and there were enough options. The bar had a good selection of Belgium beers on offer. There is a swimming pool outside that looks maintained but there is no safety fence around it so if you're outside in the bar area or in fact anywhere in the entrance area of the hotel you have to watch your children as they may accidentally walk into the pool.

Sehr schönes Hotel im Zentrum von Gent. Gebäude im klassizistischen Stil mit modernen Elementen. Tolles Frühstücksbüffet mit aufmerksamem Service. Check-in war ok, die Check-in Zeit 15 Uhr wurde leider nicht eingehalten. Wir haben aber netterweise ein Upgrade bekommen, daher hat sich das Warten gelohnt. Besonders schön sind die Zimmer mit Balkon zum Innenhof. Das Restaurant hatte geschlossen. Die Drinks im Innenhof waren sehr gut, der Service abends etwas langsam. Man ist vom Hotel schnell zu Fuß in der historischen Innenstadt. Gym und Pool klein aber gepflegt. Insgesamt ein tolles Hotel.

I was still getting ready to leave my room, wearing my winter jacket and shoes etc, when the house keeping just entered the room and started cleaning the room straight away without giving me a little privacy before i leave. Overall, this hotel disappointed me greatly. I had chosen it partly because it was advertised as being convenient to public transit. Not so. The #1 tram, which my reservation confirmation mentioned as an easy way to reach the hotel, has been out of service for a while now and will remain so for the next four years while the city renovates the route. Yet the hotel's final communication with me, just before my arrival, failed to mention this. This caused me no end of trouble. But it was also typical; I never felt that I was in a hospitable hotel where anyone cared about my comfort or convenience or even whether I enjoyed my stay. The proprietor, who does everything from making the beds to setting out the breakfast to staffing the office, gave the impression that beyond his considerable responsibilities, he had no time or energy for anything but the absolute minimum. Luckily, the people of Ghent welcome visitors, and it was thanks to them that I enjoyed the city at all. Despite the physical signs of wear and tear, the Erasmus Hotel has some charm. One afternoon, I was returning from a museum visit and heard someone play the antique organ on the premises, and someone singing lieder to it. I've also never eaten breakfast in the shadow of a suit of armor. Nevertheless, I wish I'd stayed somewhere else.

quite far from the train station but close to attractions. a rather old hotel. the door locks are the round shaped ones. the hot water supply of the shower was not quite steady. the room is quite small for europe i think. the plus side is they gave us the room well before the official check in time. we arrived at around 10:30 and they gave us the room right away. there is a free breakfast buffet as well (even my room choice is the most basic one).

This hotel enjoys a wonderful location within feet of the old town. A 3 minute stroll takes you to a beautiful canal in the heart of the old city. The foyer, bar area and breakfast room are beautiful - full of character and period charm. Breakfast is good - even soy yogurts and milk alternatives were provided. Reception staff are mixed with some lacking basic hospitality skills. After a long journey you might expect a smile and a warm welcome, not rude as such but lacking charm. The rooms - I have stayed here 3 times in 3 different rooms, all of which were spacious. However, and this IS an issue for me, only a handful of rooms are in the main building. Some are in the external courtyard, worse still some are up external steps / decking (think American motel). I specified main building but they have a very liberal interpretation of this. It extends to all rooms accessed via the external courtyard. It wasn’t an issue for us as our room was 6 feet from the main door on ground level. I should also add that the room was very nice and spacious but stifflingly hot with no option to adjust the temperature. f you are on an upper deck, walking in the rain to go for breakfast may be a sticking point. The hotel also has another building (a 2 minute walk down the street) in a dark courtyard. The rooms are nice but make sure that you are aware of your accommodation. Having stayed in this part previously, I found it very annoying walking for breakfast and this area lacked the security of being in a hotel. In short, lovely location, nice hotel but do be aware of where exactly your room is situated - it could be in an external motel annex or in another building entirely. Tips : as you walk out of the hotel, turn right and right again by the Mariott and you will be by the canal. Tip 2 : there is an excellent supermarket directly opposite but it’s very easy to miss as it looks small and unassuming from the outside. Tip 3 : Tram no1 can be found directly opposite The Body Shop. It will take you to Sint Peters and very regular trains will take you to both Bruges and Brussels within 25 minutes at a cost of €10 ish per journey.
