This hotel offers beautiful scenery and a tranquil environment, a true oasis amidst the bustling city. While transportation isn't the most convenient, the hotel service is excellent. Typically, Hakone hotels provide shuttle service from Hakone-Yumoto Station, but the Prince Hotel also offers pickup from Odawara Station. The hotel runs a shuttle to Hakone's main bus hub, and there's a bus stop right outside, though both have limited operating hours. It's best suited for guests who don't mind walking. It's a half-hour walk from the hotel to the famous Hakone floating torii gate, and another 7-8 minutes from there to the bus stop for ascending Hakone and the cruise ship pier. The scenery along the way is stunning, with lush green mountains, sparkling water, and fresh air.

The views of Lake Ashi are picturesque, the room was clean and tidy, and breakfast was abundant.

The hotel was great, I really liked it. The room was spacious and the breakfast was excellent. Looking forward to staying again next time.

I booked a lake-view room, but at first, the front desk gave me a garden-view room with only a tiny glimpse of the lake on the left. After some discussion, they finally switched my room. Later, after my bath, I noticed that several rooms with better views were just getting occupied, so it really shows you have to advocate for yourself. After the room change, the scenery was fantastic, directly facing Mount Fuji, absolutely stunning. The breakfast selection was also rich. The only downside is that transportation is a bit inconvenient; there aren't many shuttle buses, and public transport services are limited.

The hotel service was excellent. They provided a convenient shuttle service from Odawara, which made our check-in smooth. After checking in, we were personally escorted and given a thorough explanation of the facilities. The hotel's location is superb, offering stunning lake and mountain views, truly feeling like a secluded paradise. We could see Mount Fuji from both the lakeside and our room (on clear days), and it's also very close to the cable car station.

One of the places in the world that you come in and you don’t want to leave. The serene place and the tranquil lake and surroundings made me want to stay forever.

Really nice hotel at Hakone Ashi Lake. Location is a little remote but they have a shuttle bus from Odawara St. And it's nice and quiet.. The rooms have bakconies, I had with Lake view...sooo nice.

The hotel building is beautiful, located right by Lake Ashi, perfect for morning and evening strolls to enjoy the scenery and take great photos. The buffet is fantastic, both dinner and breakfast, with carefully selected, fresh ingredients and authentic flavors.

The hotel's public areas are beautiful, and the location is excellent. However, it's clear that the ********* staff treat mainland Chinese guests extremely poorly, it's atrocious! Don't ask how I know she's *********; she was wearing a '********* party emblem' and rolled her eyes while speaking to us in Mandarin. My husband spoke to her in English, and she immediately became much more subdued. I've already complained to Ctrip about the details. For dinner at the Japanese restaurant, two adults and one child, it cost 2900 RMB, and not a single ingredient was decent, we even left hungry. But the Japanese staff's attitude was much better than those ********* ladies.

A truly satisfying stay! The room was spacious and filled with a Japanese resort vibe. The views of Lake Ashi were stunning, and taking a stroll along the lakeside lawn in the mornings and evenings was incredibly chill. Ms. Liao, a staff member, spoke Chinese and patiently answered all our questions. We tried both the buffet and Japanese set menu for breakfast over two days, and both experiences were excellent. The hotel's shuttle service to and from Odawara and Moto-Hakone was also convenient and punctual.

A beautiful hotel sited beside a nice lake. Very good view and it has a nice public onsen. Service is good, food is good and nice big soft beds. The only bad thing is that it is very far from the major town. You have to drive out for food. Once you buy your snacks and drinks in advance, then it will be all good.

The service at Lake Ashi Prince Hotel is incredibly thoughtful. They offer shuttle services, including pick-up and drop-off at Odawara Station West Exit parking lot (reservation required), as well as a scheduled minibus to Moto-Hakone (no reservation needed; it departs from the hotel on the hour, stopping at Ryuguden Onsen Hotel before reaching the Moto-Hakone parking lot. There's a Lawson convenience store and a bubble tea shop run by a ********* lady, where you can find potstickers and siu mai – perfect if Japanese food isn't quite hitting the spot). Breakfast at the hotel is a must; it's quite remote here. You could easily spend a whole day relaxing at the hotel, enjoying the beautiful scenery. The only issue, common to the entire Hakone area, is the sulfur smell, which can't be eliminated. Make sure to keep the dehumidifier provided by the hotel running. For dinner, the buffet is a relatively more affordable option. Lunch is usually eaten out. Just a 300-meter walk from the hotel, you can catch the Komagatake Ropeway, which runs every 20 minutes or so. At the top, there's a shrine and a torii gate with panoramic views of Lake Ashi. If you're lucky, you might even see Mount Fuji (a telephoto lens is a must). Xiao Wang, a hotel staff member (who speaks Chinese), was very dedicated and responsible. Her explanations were thorough, and her service was excellent – thumbs up! I think she might also be from Taiwan! You can jog from the hotel to Togendai in 20 minutes via the Shrine Path (a shortcut); it takes about an hour to walk. Along the way, you can visit Kuzuryu Shrine for 300 yen (opens at 9:00 AM). When taking the pirate ship from Moto-Hakone, if you buy a round-trip ticket, be aware that the return trip doesn't necessarily arrive at the same port you departed from. You might have to take a bus back to your starting point (which is quite a hassle!). Wishing you all a pleasant trip!
