Royal Heights Resort Villas & Spa

the hotel has opened recently for a week in winter time (November 2024) due to a conference and we enjoyed our stay there. The view is panoramic and the Hotel is very quiet. Has a panoramic a la carte restaurant, Gym, Spa, a very big relaxable full renovated pool. staff is very friendly and food is realy Cretan organic food

This is a must stay hotel. The location offers stunning views over Malia. The facilities are 5 star. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is the place. The pool and surrounding area is well maintained with an ambutance of space and plenty of sunbeds..no rushing from breakfast to claim your sunbed for the day. The staff and customer service take the hotel to another level - exceptional. Athena, the hotel receptionist, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We can't thank her enough. Maria was also very helpful when we needed help..nothing was ever a bother. Dimmitto, in the restaurant, always greeted us with a smile, ensuring breakfast was an enjoyable experience. Last but not least, Dimmas was friendly, with an engaging personality. A great person to know. The owners should be proud that they are represented by such exceptional staff. Actually a really nice place to stay. The views are great. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The beds are excellent. Food for breakfast is more than adequate. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Some frustrations are the wi-fi. The further you get from the main premises, the more intermittent. On weekends, it seems non hotel guests are allowed in, so the pool area loses its normally quiet atmosphere. Nothing to do with the hotel but the holiday firms who book the hotel for you drop you off at the bottom of the hill. They say it's door to door buy that is totally false. It seems all the companies are the same. You can't really walk up the hill so you're forced to take a taxi. Bit of a rip-off but not the hotels fault. The walk down to Malia takes about 20 mins, but it's all downhill, so actually really nice. You don't want to walk back as it's a step climb. Taxis are easy to fine, and it's €10. Altogether a nice place to stay. Malia old town is lovely, but Malia as a whole is a bit of a dump full of bars and nightclubs for kids.

We wanted a relaxed and laid back holiday and Royal Heights absolutely delivered. The location is fantastic - panoramic views of the town and really peaceful. The staff were wonderful. Athena and Maria at the front desk were warm, friendly and really helpful. The rest of the staff from housekeeping to the restaurant and bar staff were all really friendly and lovely to interact with. The hotel was very accomodating to my wife's dietary needs and really made us feel looked after. We had booked one of the villas with a private pool and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is coming with children. Our kids loved having their own private pool and we pretty much spent each day there. The villa itself was really clean and the resort is of a very high standard. The town is an approx 15 min walk downhill and there are a number of local restaurants to choose from which I am sure everyone would enjoy. On the way back to the hotel a taxi is definitely recommended. All in all this has been a fantastic stay and we will take back fond memories of our stay. If you are looking to stay in the region I would suggest Royal Heights as your number one choice.

RHR is a great hotel with especially fantastic views. We stayed in the one of the cliff top villas (room 402) and the pool was kept clean, grass neat and any staff were lovely. We visited the gym every day (except Sunday because it’s closed on Sundays) and there was plenty of space with many different machines. The walk into Malia was about 20mins. It was a nice way to see the rustic outskirts. I recommend the old town because there are lots of small and traditional restaurants. A tip for staying in the villas is that the door locks when closed so make sure you keep a key on you at all times. We managed to lock ourselves out ! Luckily the kind staff were happy to help and used the spare key to let us back in.

Quiet place just about 1 mile away from Malia *****. Nice walk down but need a taxi on the way back due to incline (as menationed by others). Excellent staff and special thanks to Dimitrius who could not do enough for us.
