Hotel 3 Bintang di Hofn

The Old Airline Guesthouse is an extremely nice guesthouse at a great value. It is situated strategically between two of Iceland most majestic sites, the Vatnajökull Glacier/Iceberg Lagoon and Hvalnes Nature Reserve. The Old Airline Guesthouse owner and host Sigga was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I had a small but awesome room with a view overlooking the Hofn bay area. Patrons can also enjoy a similar view in the upstairs common area. Local shops and restaurants are within walking distance. A continental breakfast is included in your stay. Being a guesthouse you do share a bathroom, other than that the Old Airline Guesthouse is truly a gem worth staying.

This hotel is in need of a renovation to bring it up to standard - especially for what they are charging. Whilst our room was a good size, and very light with an abundance of windows, we were on the second floor - yet with a small hill outside our window, you could see straight into our room. A little disconcerting when a cemetery sat at the top of that hill. There is no lift in the hotel, and all rooms require at least one set of stairs, with no assistance from staff. An elderly couple arrived as we did, and there was no-one to help them up to their room with their cases. The bed was very comfortable, but the curtains did not completely cover the windows, and with 24 hour light during summer a total blockout is necessary - thankfully we had eye-masks, but the constant light in the room was still not great for a good sleep. This was one of the most expensive hotels we had in Iceland, and was well below the standard of some of our other stays.

We stayed for two nights at this place in the yellow house by the sea. We were on the lower floor in a two bedroom flat. Everything was just perfect and very clean. The mattresses were comfortable and the flat had a fully functional kitchen, but we had our breakfast (included) in the main building and also two dinners which were delicious and not expensive. The staff were attentive and we learned a lot about the farm from the hotel manageress. Do look at the museum (free of charge for guests) in the main building. It explains the live of a famous Icelandic author who was very avant garde and original. The access was good in the yellow house. You walk straight in

Great location with sea/mountain views on one side and harbour views on the other. Rooms appear recently refurbished. Lots of parking and within walking distance of Hofn restaurants (we went to Pizzeria). Bar area in reception with outside patio terrace seating. Great breakfast with hot and cold buffet. No lift to first floor but luggage assistance offered.

Very disappointing stay in June 2023. We were supposed to stay for two nights but left after only one. Our room was very clean and had a lot of storage space but as we laid down to go to sleep we noticed a large patch of black mold way up in a corner of the ceiling. We tried to switch rooms then but the hotel was full. My daughter and I both have a severe mold allergy and in the morning we were both symptomatic. After breakfast I noticed paint marks on the ceiling where someone had previously tried to cover up the mold. Looking outside we saw a massive hole in the roof right over our room that could let even more water in. The breakfast hostess and manager were both very kind and apologetic. They said they knew about the issue and offered to let us change our room. Knowing that there was such a significant problem with one room made us skeptical about the other rooms and we decided to leave. It also left a bad taste in our mouths that the owner would rather cover up a health hazard instead of fixing it. In short, this hotel needs some repairs. If you can avoid room 116 you’ll probably have an ok stay. Other than the mold we didn’t have an issue with service, cleanliness, breakfast, or noise.

A nice retreat in a quiet part of Iceland. We spent 2 nights here on our recent trip to Iceland. The cabins are just a short drive from Hofn, where you can find groceries, restaurants and a well equipped public pool (we highly recommend checking it out, our 2yo had a blast there with the baby water slide). The best bonus? A same day laundry service in town to help us wash all our winter gear before we continue on the second half of our trip! We stayed at the family cabin, the set up is 1 queen size bed and 1 twin bed in the sectioned off bedroom with a door. There is another twin bed opposite the bathroom. There is a studio apartment style kitchen with a dinner table, some simple seasonings, and an outdoor gas grill. We managed to cook our meals here easily for the 2 nights we stayed. The cabins are quiet, we enjoyed the scenery. The water heater had plenty of water for our family of three. The radiators kept us cozy and warm all night, we didnt even need blankets. We felt very relaxed here and would return should we find ourselves in Iceland again.

為啥給三顆星，因為價格3000元以上的每晚房間，窗帘衹有一層無法密閉，冰川景色房含加床4000元以上，廁所小到轉身就要碰到牆壁，雖然酒店外觀很現代，但是不值得這個價格，細節部分比其他冰島同類酒店做得差。如果定價2000以下是合適的，畢竟比冰島的沃格爾鄉村旅舍要好。必經地理位置靠近主要公路值得關注。
