"New small hostel,very clean and gracefully furnished. There are 5 rooms (I was in the female dorm alone for 4 nights!),laundry service for 6000 Won or 10000 (washing+drying),they provide towels,toiletries,slippers,a huge terrace upstairs,a kitchen. The included breakfast is instant noodles and a bag of tea (I didn’t try the noodles but the tea was quite good),they ask you to leave the room between 11 am and 4pm for housekeeping,but nobody from the staff is there at least until noon. Check in is at 5 pm,but the kind receptionist let me check in half an hour earlier. You won’t find proper hostel vibes atm,and there are some things still missing (like a small light on every bed,knives and plates in the kitchen) but I guess it’s just because it’s very new. Sometimes the karaoke downstairs can be loud at night but with earplugs is almost ok."

PPengguna TetamuOverall, I had a wonderful stay at The First Ocean Gwangan!💙 I would say I am glad that I picked this accommodation for my Busan trip this time!
The location is perfect. The Gwanganli beach is just 30 seconds away from the building, and the metro station is just 6 minutes away where you can walk through a cute and hippie neighbourhood with lovely cafes and shops on the way. I booked a room that has 1/2 ocean view and it gave what it promised!✨ The view is just stunning and I love that I can sleep while listening to the wave. I stayed here by myself and I feel safe even walking back at late hours. There are a couple of pubs and clubs nearby, so it could be a little noisy at night, but I wasn't bothered by that during my stay.
The room is quite small though. I had one 20' suitcase with me, and it opened ok inside the room. If one is carrying a larger suitcase, it could be hard to have it opened lying flat. There are hangers and hooks on the wall but not much space to keep bags/backpack. Since I am just staying by myself, I don't find it too packed. I like that the shower and the toilet is separated by a glass door. The only thing is even with the door is closed, water still spill out of the shower area. But other than that everything is fine with me!:)

OOpenEyesOnTheWorldThe location is convenient near the harbour and station, also a bus and metro stop just across. The room was a little worn out and the bathroom not at all functional, broken hangers, no space to put anything. The shower is very good. The internet connection is decent. Check in only at 16:00 which is quite late considering that you have to check out by 10:00. The room cleaning could be more thorough.

PPengguna TetamuThe place was a bit dirty when we arrived, hair in the bathroom in the sink and some stains on the walls as well. Walls are extremely thin, you can hear people outside of your room and your neighbors enjoying their night. For the price I paid, I’m not going to complain.
However, the workers were extremely nice, if you don’t mind the transportation time, I would recommend.

Located conveniently within the city, the hotel serves as a great base for travelers looking to explore Busan’s vibrant neighborhoods, beaches, and culinary spots. From check-in to check-out, my stay was smooth, and I found the hotel to be a solid mix of comfort, cleanliness, and character.
Check-in & First Impressions:
Upon arrival, I was greeted by courteous front desk staff who spoke basic English and were very accommodating. The check-in process was fast and efficient, with minimal hassle. The lobby itself was tastefully decorated—nothing extravagant, but definitely welcoming. It had a quirky charm that felt a bit more boutique than your average budget hotel.
Room:
I stayed in a standard double room, which was surprisingly spacious. The decor was modern and minimalist, with a few unique touches that gave it personality. The bed was large and comfortable, with clean, crisp linens. I appreciated the small details like a well-lit vanity area, USB charging ports, and a mini-fridge. The room also had good soundproofing, which meant I could rest peacefully even though the hotel is near a busy area.
The bathroom was spotless, equipped with a full set of toiletries, and had a surprisingly luxurious rainfall shower. Water pressure was excellent, and hot water was consistent throughout my stay. Some rooms also offer jacuzzis or bathtubs, depending on the tier you book, which I thought was a great value.
Amenities & Services:
While Hotel Elephant isn’t a full-service luxury property, it offers everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. There’s a vending machine area, complimentary bottled water, and in-room amenities like a kettle, coffee, and tea. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, even during peak hours. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant or gym, but there are plenty of cafes and convenience stores nearby to make up for it.
Housekeeping was thorough and respectful. My room was cleaned daily, and towels and toiletries were replenished without needing to request anything.
Location:
This is arguably one of the hotel’s strongest points. It’s just a short walk from a nearby subway station, which made commuting to places like Haeundae Beach, Jagalchi Market, and Gwangalli very easy. There are also tons of restaurants, bars, and local shops within walking distance. Whether you’re into street food or want to try Busan’s famous seafood, you’ll find great options nearby. If you’re into nightlife, there’s also plenty happening in the area, but thankfully, the hotel itself remains peaceful at night.
Staff & Hospitality:
Every staff member I interacted with was polite and eager to help. While not everyone was fluent in English, they made an effort to assist with directions, transportation tips, and even helping me book a cab using local apps. Their hospitality made the stay feel much warmer and more personal than I expected.
Overall Impression:
Hotel Elephant may not be a five-star hotel, but it delivers more than what you’d expect from its price point. It’s clean, cozy, and well-located—perfect for solo travelers, couples, or even friends on a budget-friendly getaway. If you’re visiting Busan and want a reliable place to stay that offers good value without compromising on comfort, this hotel is a solid pick. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Busan.

MMarcSuper nice hostel with a great inferior design. The capsule was not too big to keep the luggage there but what to expect. The bathroom and shower was clean and hot water available. WiFi was working fast so you could work there. Location was close to the beach and a few minutes walk to the metro station. I highly recommend this hostel.

HHeladoThis is a budget hotel/motel chain from Busan. But I feel like I found a hidden gem. While it’s in a busy nightlife area, it’s generally quiet. Well, it gets loud on the weekends some week day nights, but tend to get quiet before midnight for the last trains home. The delux room was more than big enough for a solo traveller. I felt very at home. The owners are kind and helpful. There’s a kitchen with instant ramen and coffee if you need to save some money, and lots of restaurants and convenience stores outside. I’d recommend this place for folks looking to save some money but still like some comfort.
Worth noting a lot of Korean rooms have a “universal remote”. So the aircon controls are actually on the same remote control as the smart tv. I’d recommend using a translation app on your phone if you’re not sure because it is all in Korean. Some reviews seem to mention “no ac remote” but I think this was the misunderstanding. It confused me at first! I liked it so much that I extended my stay here. Very easy to do via trip app, and they have a self check in machine that can extend your stay too. Weekends tend to be more expensive though.
I’ll almost certainly be back here if I’m in Busan again. 감사합니다!

PPengguna TetamuI stayed here just a few days before, and chose to stay here yet again after coming back from an excursion to Busan. The self check-in process is smooth even after the check-in counter is closed at late night. Perfect location if you arrive into Seoul train station at midnight, either from Korail or airport train. Even if all metros lines are closed. You can just walk to the guesthouse within 10 mins from Seoul station. During the day, there is a metro station at your doorsteps connecting to Seoul Station in 1 stop. The room is clean and warm. The owner is very friendly.

AaliasjackoI would say this is one of the worst hotel I have ever stayed.
I booked for 3 nights under one booking but felt like 3 separate bookings.
The hotel forces guests to pack up everything and check out before 08h00 in the morning and RECHECK-IN again at 23h00. There is no luggage storage available either.
Imagining having to pack up every morning and having to find a storage at 8 in the morning, SPENDING 15 HOURS outside with 1/2 of the belongings in the backpack until it hits 23h00.
retrieving the luggage from the storage which had to pay extra money to do so. 2 times for each day. reopen the luggage and repeat again and again.
I booked 3 nights for a reason. so that I can leave my belongings in there. not to do the extra work. I don't sleep well at all, because of the planning o moving luggage in and out, plus paying extra for storage at different building far away.
However not on a good note, the hotel charges almost 2 times more than the room rate per night to keep my luggage in the room during my whole stay.
That means IF I had agreed to pay, I would have ended up paying equally to 7 nights. I did not sign up for that with the given rate
every night, I will get new keycard to new room with different layouts. which is not a problem. it is clean and dfunctional.
first room, it does not have mosquito net at the window. no wifi. I had to use other free wifi from outside which the signal is really low
second room, it is better. best of the 3 nights. strong wifi. nicer bathroom. again without mosquito net, but it is acceptable.
third room, it is almost the same as the first night, but it has its own wifi. great wifi too.
overall, the bed is great. wifi is great in some room. showers are great. but the problem I described made everything bad.
