Active Life Madarao

Active life is well situated a short walk to the slopes and the bars and restaurants of Madarao. The standout is the experience that Lisa and her team create. It's a homely place with good size rooms and amenities where you are made to feel extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble. There's a lovely onsite bar and Matt the barman was super friendly and had a great playlist! Breakfast is good with both hot and cold items. Freshly cooked items offered include eggs and bacon or specials such as pancakes and French toast. Lisa creates such a wonderful experience I couldn't recommend this place highly enough for a cosy place to stay!

Great staff who make your time at Madarao even better. They keep watch on what’s happening around the resort and let you know any events coming up or any weather conditions to be alert to on the mountain. The resort is great for a wide range of runs including powder and trees The outdoor onsen is a perfect place to relax after a busy day of skiing. The rooms are very large with extremely comfortable beds and kitchen has very good food for breakfast and for dinners. There is a discount the ski hire place for staying here. Overall ALM makes your holiday at Madarao a great experience.

We stayed at Active Life Madarao for a week on our first ever trip to Japan. This was the PERFECT place to stay to enjoy the awesome snowfields that Madarao has to offer. Lisa and her team were EXCEPTIONAL. Nothing was too much and Lisa always had suggestions and was able to guide us. Th family room was very roomy for a Japanese Hotel with the beds being heavenly comfortable. It was an easy walk to other restaurants in the area and also the slopes. As I said NOTHING was too much for Lisa to organise or assist. If you want to go see the Snow Monkeys, get Lisas advice. If you want to know where to go eat, ask Lisa. If you need to send your snow gear on to your next destination or the Airport, ask Lisa. If you want to know the best way to get back to Tokyo or the Airport, ask Lisa. If you are looking for that special type of accomodation in the area and not just be a room number but a true guest you cannot go past this fantastic location. Thank you to Lisa and the team. It is defiantly on our list of places to visit again and again.

Our family of 5 stayed at Active Life for our recent ski trip to Madarao. We found the lodge to have a great vibe and it was a really fun place to stay. Rooms were great, good showers, comfortable beds and a small fridge. There is also an onsen and activity room with a pool table. We stayed with a group of friends and there was plenty of space at the lodge to sit and have a chat. The bar was also great and Matt was an awesome barman. The location was spot on with a short walk to slopes and restaurants etc. Lisa and her staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay a good one and I would happily recommend this lodge to anyone.

Our first trip to Madarao and this hotel was in the perfect location to ski some beautiful runs. Just a short walk to the lift to hit the slopes. The rooms were clean and spacious and with great views. We had meals included which were tasty especially the apple pie! On Valentines Day the staff went to a big effort decorating and serving a special meal 👏🏼. Staff were welcoming and attentive and had a great sense of humour. Special mention to Sean for great barista skills. That coffee art is pure class! Vanessa, thanks for the hot tips for dinner locations. Guests should take notes as all were perfect choices. If you want great ski or board hire you can’t go past stopping to see Casey and Dan. Our demo skis hit the mark thank you. Although I have it on good authority that Josh and Georgia are great too! If you want great drinks at the bar then Harry can help you. The bar is a good area to hang out and we can’t wait to see the completed renovations in that area of the hotel which will make it a good apres ski spot for guests and others. And not to forget great hospitality from Yannis and Joaquin. If you have spare time then take a trip to see the snow monkeys. It’s well worth the trip and the team can help organise transport. And of course a big thanks to management Lisa and Stuart for your enthusiasm for making the hotel a home away from home. Busy planning our next trip!

We chose this based on good ratings and proximity to ski lifts. The place is really sweet, cosy and comes equipped with everything our family needed. Our kids were so sad to leave. We liked: - Very friendly and informative staff. Shout out to Lisa and everyone else there the week do Feb 12! - clean and spacious rooms - simple and filling breakfast included each morning - onsite place to store ski gear - onsite hot chocolate and vending machine - small mini onsen hot bath area - small kids play area plus foozeball and pool table Only suggestion: fix the dryer (hard to dry washed) clothes. Highly recommend if you looking for a cozier, personal feel that's super close to the ski lifts.
