We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to stay at Shangu. Not only is the guesthouse conveniently located near the monasterybut the hosting family also taught us so much about ******* culture. They generously shared their time, traditions, and delicious cuisine—things we would never have experienced anywhere else. They were always kind and helpful whenever we needed anything. And all the food we ate (a lot) was genuinely local, delicious and had the warmth of homemade food. Furthermore, the guesthouse itself was absolutely lovely. The common spaces were very tasteful and inviting, and the rooms were clean, well-designed and beautifully decorated. We had a wonderful sleep, and no problems whatsoever. We will never forget these few days at Shangu guesthouse, and our lovely moments with its family. This stay will remain one of the most meaningful memories of our trip to China.

We are really grateful to 索南仁青 (Emilio) for the top notch service rendered to us and appreciative for going the extra mile to help us. My friend was resting in the room and had altitude sickness and he actually quickly informed us as we are out for sight seeing. He even checked with us the following day on his condition even though we have already left the place. He also gave us an introduction of ******* traditional medicine, doing some handmade incense and some gesture gifts to us. We would recommend travellers who are looking for a place to stay, this is the one!

If you’re considering staying here, just book it. After four years living in China, this was my farewell trip, and I was incredibly excited to experience ******* culture. I could not have chosen a better place. The family is simply wonderful. They arranged airport pick-up, helped me organize trips around the area, changed my breakfast so I could try authentic local food, prepared homemade yogurt for me every evening, and even introduced me to friends who spoke English. Their hospitality was beyond anything I could have expected. I have travelled extensively all over the world, and without a doubt this family has made this one of the best trips of my life. They even invited me to watch a movie projected onto the courtyard wall with them one evening – a memory I will always cherish. As for the hotel itself, it is spotless. I’m very particular about cleanliness, and everything was impeccable. The quality of the towels, bedding and furnishings was exceptional, and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. I stayed for five nights and was never bored. Xiahe has so much more to offer than many people realise. I honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for making my stay so special ❤️

The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!

I would stay here for a week if I had enough time. This is a very special place with peaceful surroundings and a great team of people to make your stay special. The environment is perfect for relaxing and just soaking up the atmosphere. You can choose between a regular cabin or a transparent camping pod for a more immersive experience. Just note that you are in the middle of nature so you have to embrace everything that comes with that. The best part I would say are the people who work here, in particular the owner Liu Jing and his dog Oreo, who made me feel so at home as a solo traveller and was accommodating of everything. From making traditional ******* breakfast to sharing stories by the campfire an having drinks late into the night, I will never forget this experience. If you are reading this, I would not hesitate to book.

We can say only positive things about our stay in this amazing Inn. First, we were impressed by the hall and common area with heartwarming photos on the walls and picturesque postcards that we received as the present from the hotel owner Chai Chai. We talked a bit about our plans and we were shown to our room. We were so good cared during those 2 days of stay: Chai Chai prepared hot water for me, whenever I needed it, she ordered local milk tea for us to try, it was delicious. Also she has a very nice dog, so kind and playful. Her husband helped us to organise bus tickets back and on the day of our departure Chai Chai drove us to our ride. She also made a nice gift for us - a Tibetan-patterned coasters handmade with the popular ”bean stitching” craft that's currently trending in China. Moreover, accommodations are really cozy and spacious. On the highest floor there is a terrace with many tables and seats and panoramic mountain view. We sat there and enjoyed. We’ll definitely come back and advise this place to our friends. Thank you, Chai Chai and to all your family! You are the best!

I hate giving a negative review, as the owner was very nice, and the building itself is quite nice. But there's no reason for such a high price, for what you get. The room was nice, but with underfloor heating it was very cold. They brought us a space heater, and we kept the card key in place, door unlocked, so it was bearable. But for $38 it should have been easier. It's right next to a great restaurant, which is worth it if you want to splurge. The walk up the hill is steep, and one taxi driver refused to go up Again, the owner is a nice guy, but there are much cheaper (and warmer) options.

We are from Singapore, My son and I had one night satisfying stay in Yanou Sangke Camp . It is located on a beautiful and tranquil grassland. Lying comfortably in the clean and cozy wooden cabin, we could gaze out the window and enjoy the rolling mountains in the distance and the lush greenery nearby. Beside the cabin flows a winding river, its water moving gently and sparkling under the sunlight. Everything felt so peaceful, relaxing, and idyllic. The camp owner and staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming. They helped transport our luggage to the cabin. The cabin restaurant was also charming and cozy, allowing guests to enjoy delicious meals while admiring the scenic views outside the window. In the evening, there was a campfire gathering at 8 p.m., which added to the wonderful atmosphere. Even my son, who is usually quite particular and hard to please when it comes to accommodation, was extremely satisfied with our stay here. 燕鸥桑科营地位于美丽而静谧的草原上， 躺在干净整洁的木屋里， 看窗外，远处山峦起伏， 近处绿意盎然。 木屋旁有一条曲折的小河， 河水缓缓流过， 河面上闪着细碎的光！ 一切是那么的美好而松弛！ 营地老板和服务人员都很热情 ，把我们的行李拉到木屋， 木屋餐厅也很温馨， 用餐的同时可以欣赏窗外的风景。晚上8 点也有篝火晚会 。 非常满意的住宿 , 强力推荐👍👍👍

Very convenient location. Just walking distance to Labrang monestry. Really nice place and nice view from the hotel. Breakfast is nice and front desk attitude is friendly. Highly recommend. If you like to try some ******* style hotel, this will be the best option. Thanks

We had such a good stay here. The rooms were very clean and cosy, and they were heated really well for the winter weather. The window to our room opened our onto the common area which is a beautiful room filled with plants and seats and pools of water. The whole building fills up with light and makes it a really nice place to stay. The location is a little far away from the main area of town, but this is not a problem at all since taxis and mopeds cost less than 5 yuan to get to town and Labrang monastery. Do not let the location put you off. The owner was incredibly friendly and very helpful. He made us breakfast and organized taxis to get us around. He gave us a great recommendation to go to the Bajiaocheng Ancient Site (picture attached), which I recommend EVERYONE does, it was amazing and our host organized it all for us. I would really recommend staying here. There is also a crazy kitten running about the place who we loved. Oh and you can do laundry free of charge.
