TTwo independent mature travellers from New ZealandLovely new modern homestay less than 2km down the Main Street. Comfortable beds and linen first class. Less than ten minutes walk from bus station or 25 minutes walk to Labrang Monastery. Hailed taxis shared with others to monastery costs Y2 per person. The lovely young couple were very helpful, even taxiing at reasonable price to the grasslands and picked us up when we sent WeChat message. We were here in 2000. It’s changed heaps since then to a bigger town and more infrastructure. The people are friendly, with the younger generation wanting to try out their English. Worth a 3 hour bus ride from Lanzhou to see the monastery and go for a hike into the highlands.

PPengguna TetamuOur stay here was lovely, with kind staff. We are Australian and our check-in was easy. However, please note that the name of the hotel name is “Samphel Dhondup Hotel”, and it is located near the southern corner of 腾志路, Tengzhi Road, near the Monastery Ticket Centre and the river. This was confusing upon arrival.
The heated floors were extremely hot, and not able to be turned off. Our room was a sauna, despite being -4°c outside (we had our window open the whole time). Hopefully this can be fixed. Breakfast was small but we were here during the offseason.

But there's no reason for such a high price, for what you get.
The room was nice, but with underfloor heating it was very cold. They brought us a space heater, and we kept the card key in place, door unlocked, so it was bearable. But for $38 it should have been easier.
It's right next to a great restaurant, which is worth it if you want to splurge. The walk up the hill is steep, and one taxi driver refused to go up
Again, the owner is a nice guy, but there are much cheaper (and warmer) options.

MMariiaKipWe can say only positive things about our stay in this amazing Inn. First, we were impressed by the hall and common area with heartwarming photos on the walls and picturesque postcards that we received as the present from the hotel owner Chai Chai. We talked a bit about our plans and we were shown to our room. We were so good cared during those 2 days of stay: Chai Chai prepared hot water for me, whenever I needed it, she ordered local milk tea for us to try, it was delicious. Also she has a very nice dog, so kind and playful. Her husband helped us to organise bus tickets back and on the day of our departure Chai Chai drove us to our ride. She also made a nice gift for us - a Tibetan-patterned coasters handmade with the popular ”bean stitching” craft that's currently trending in China. Moreover, accommodations are really cozy and spacious. On the highest floor there is a terrace with many tables and seats and panoramic mountain view. We sat there and enjoyed. We’ll definitely come back and advise this place to our friends. Thank you, Chai Chai and to all your family! You are the best!

PPengguna Tetamu很好的民宿，老闆很熱情，説屋子是自家修的，從迭部拉來的木材，請了木工師傅手工雕刻、建造。入住期間老闆自己也住在裏面。感覺是很本地的藏家民宿，很有體驗感。但是也是因為是真正的家庭民宿，所以廁所是大夥一起用的，還有大廚房。

PPengguna TetamuThe location is quite far from the bus station, and unfortunately as it was peak season no taxi could take us due to the traffic jam - our only option was to walk the 3km with our bags. There are not many restaurants very close by as it is in a very quiet part of the city. However the location is very convenient for visiting the monastery, just a short walk away. The window for the room looks into the internal courtyard, which you need to be conscious of in regards to privacy.

PPengguna TetamuI stay a few nights in a dorm and I was the only guest. The dorm and the toilets were well cleaned. The heating system worked well as well as the hot shower. There was a kettle in the dorm. The WiFi was strong. The hotel is in a short walking distance from the monastery, restyrants and shops. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel is right next to the entrance of the monastery and most rooms have a nice view of the lively main street and the mountains behind. The rooms also have built-in heating so the room is not cold during the colder months. The bed is very comfortable. Staff doesn’t always speak English but they are very friendly. The hotel is a little bit outdated, but I think it is one of the best places to stay in Xiahe because of the location and it offers everything you need.
