For a start, it is now called the Herdsman Lodge. It is up one flight of steps from the street, no lift. Someone has obviously spent a fair amount of time and attention on the look of the place, but there are some things which would make staying here a better experience. The beds in the capsule are really hard (worse than on a Chinese train) and squeal every time you move. The capsules themselves look nice, but some of the plastic is a bit flimsy. They did supply toilet paper, but if you don't like squat toilets, you're out of luck. The shower cubicles are tiny, I don't know how to shower without getting my clothes wet. There is a drinks fridge, but no drinks are in it, and no water is supplied or available. The water boiler in the kitchen runs out at some stage in the evening.
Big tip: turn left out the door, go to the intersection, turn left and cross the road - the #4 bus goes to the Great Wall Scenic area, where you can see the fort, but not the wall.
