Although the initial entrance is nondescript, once past the first gate, the place feels as if one has been transported away from the city. Several quiet courtyards with huge trees, restful tables waiting in the shade, grassy lawns, and just the sound of birds wheeling around the trees. The buildings echo the local Newari style, with wooden surrounds to the windows set in rusty-red brick walls. Staff are excellent and helpful, rooms generous in size, breakfast substantial and varied, and the views from the roof-tops are grand. Would return at the drop of a hat. I happened to drop a package with a sizable sum of money it it in the lobby. Top marks to the staff who took the trouble to track me down and return the package intact - in many places that would have be the last I saw of the cash! I needed to make an early departure for a flight, and they kindly started serving breakfast half an hour early so that I could start the day on a full stomach. Full marks for this thoughtfulness. Bags were kept safely while we were away trekking. Again, very helpful.
