Hotel berhampiran Ao Tanote Beach, Koh Tao

I had an excellent stay at Woodlawn Lawn Villas, it was just as advertised and more. Friendly and helpful staff. The resort is in a good location within a short walk to local shops and beach, or scooter ride to the pier and alternative beaches. Koh Tao is only a small island so anywhere is only a short scooter ride away. Wood Lawn Villas rent scooter for 200 bhat which is very reasonable. I would highly recommend 😎

Ban’s is one of the biggest diving center in Tao. We had standard room with ac. Everything worked very well, making up the room was daily, if needed. Hotel has many swimming pools, but daily time pools are only for divers. There are laundry (1kg/50baht), restaurant, diving center, motorbike rental, Ban’s shops and everything you need for a diving holiday. Hotel area is HUGE, so be ready to walk if your room is up in the hill. About 15min walk from the harbour.

Wir wollten eigentlich 4 Nächte im Blue Tao Beach Hotel bleiben, aus diesen 4 Nächten sind wir aber nur 3 geblieben. Das Hotel bietet wirklich nicht was es verspricht. Sauberkeit: Als wir ankommen hatten wir ein kleines Willkommensgeschenk, also ja, das Geschenk waren verschiedene unidentifizierbare Flecken auf dem Bettlaken. Dazu war es im ganzen Zimmer feucht und die Handtücher haben extrem gestunken. Es wirkte, als das Zimmer nicht wirklich gereinigt wurde bevor wir angekommen sind. Frühstück: Das Frühstück ist im Hoteleigenen Restaurant. Man erhält pro Person und pro Frühstück ein Coupon. Der Coupon berechtigt jedoch nur für eine Speise, einen schwarzen Kaffee oder Tee und einen kleinen Orangensaft. Das Gericht reicht aber eigentlich nicht aus wenn man gestärkt in den Tag starten will. Das Frühstück ist geschmacklich OK aber nicht wahnsinnig vor allem bei diesem Preis vom Hotel ungenügend. Man würde erwarte, dass man verschiedene Speisen bestellen kann aber dies ist nur gegen Aufpreis möglich. Lärm: Das Hotel befindet sich im Zentrum, was völlig klar ist, dass man nicht mit absoluter Ruhe rechnen kann. Jedoch hat das Retsuarnte von 07.30 bis 00.00 sehr laute Musik, was dazu führt das man den Bass im Zimmer hört. Dazu kommt das das ganze Gebäude sehr ringhörig ist und man jeden Gast hört wenn er nach Hause kommt. Auch hört man die Wecker der anderen Zimmer und man hört sie sogar wenn sie im Zimmer miteinander reden. Freundlichkeit: Das Personal ist sehr unmotiviert und unfreundlich. Im Restaurant wirkt alles sehr umkoordiniert und teilweise wartet man sehr lange auf das essen. bei uns war es an einem Abend so, dass meine Partnerin das essen bereits hatte und mein Hauptgericht kam 20 Minuten später, was gar nicht geht... Alles in Allem war unser Aufenthalt im Blue Tao sehr unbefriedigend. Vor allem bei diesem Preis erwartet man definitiv mehr. Eigentlich sehr schade weil die Lage des Hotels sehr gut wäre. Dies führte schlussendlich dazu das wir früher als geplant weitergereist sind, weil wir uns wirklich unwohl gefühlt haben.

For some reason at the time they didn’t have any one at the front desk of this place but there are a few other places that are linked to this “Simple Life” brand. The room was alright, but this is definitely on the lower end in terms of luxury (it’s reflected in the price though).

We didn't stay there but did pay to use the pool and had dinner in the restaurant. The location is stunning with an amazing view across the bay, where you can see turtles from the pool if you are lucky! You pay 500 Baht to use the pool and are provide with a towel. This (the 500 Baht) is offset against your bar bill. We also ate in the restaurant - an amazing location with great views of the sunset, wonderful food and top service. I'd love to stay there one day. It is a little off the beaten track but as a result is very peaceful.

We loved this place, the hotel is not far from the pier, we actually walked with children and managed it even in the heat, literally about 5-10 minutes, just turn right out of the pier and walk straight to the end of the road, its tucked away right at the end, fabulous spot. The room we had was amazing, big comfy bed for us, bunk bed for the kids, raised seated area, huge balcony and great bathroom, fridge, tv with cable channels, water, tea coffee provided, hairdryer, towels and room kept clean daily. The pool was a great size, you get towels from reception. The staff are all lovely and on hand to help with anything you need, we had breakfast included which was really good, continental selection, food to order (you can choose 2 items off a menu) and good tea/coffee machine and they have proper big mugs! we ate at the restaurant for lunch and once for dinner too and both times the food was lovely and really good value for money. If we ever return to Koh Tao this is definitely where we will stay again, highly recommend.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our stay here. The location of the hotel is amazing, on the beach along a very busy ***** of restaurants and beach bars which was great. However, the hotel itself was sadly a let down. The hotel keep whistling birds in cages just outside the hotel rooms so expect to be woken at all hours by birds whistling louder than we could believe. The room we were in was very basic to the point where the only plug socket was by the front door, so to dry my hair I had to stand at the front door with no mirror or chair… The shower was a fixed height (very low) so my partner had to be on his knees to wash his hair and I had to bend significantly despite not being very tall. The room was very dark with basically no natural light at all throughout the day. The bedding was just a thick blanket, that I imagine isn’t washed between guests, in between two loose sheets so the blanket kept coming out of the sheets. The toilet was very temperamental and wouldn’t always flush properly. One positive is that the air con was strong however to circulate the air we also had the fan on and this made an annoying screeching noise when it turned to a certain point, which again, woke us up during the night. We didn’t have breakfast because we had a look at what was on offer and decided to go elsewhere as there are lots of nice local places to eat. The staff also weren’t the most pleasant and even got our dates confused when we checked in. Sadly wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The Paradise Koh Tao Resort I was saying to my daughter how, for me, a 5 star hotel is not just about the quality of the room or building or the food or even the staff. It’s about the overall experience. Value for money, comfort, fun. We were met at the pier with our cases carried for us to a songthaews. We were met at the grand hotel by Koko who explained that there was a power cut. No electricity but he was smiling and so sincere it was not a problem for us. We were walked to our room by Koko and a colleague. They carried our cases. The room was just being finished with cleaning and we went into the massive room with a double and single bed. No AC because of power cut. It was funny with Koko explaining to us how it worked without being able to show us. My daughter and I then went to the pool which was absolutely amazing. We had the whole pool to ourselves for the afternoon. An elderly Thai couple came and we took some pictures for them. Then a German (or South African) couple. The pool and area was big enough that we weren’t in each others way. Able to relax, peace and have fun. We then ordered some ice cream and when the electricity came on we then ordered lunch; an omelette, a coconut chicken soup and red curry. It was absolutely delicious! (About 600BAHT). My daughter then showered and I had a bath on the balcony! Yes, a bath on the balcony, Bubbles bowing down the street. it was amazing! We then went down to the lobby and were driven free of charge into Koh Tao. We had a wonderful time in Koh Tao which is really alive again since covid. We then paid 500B for a cab back. We slept in the beautiful air conditioned room. The following morning we had breakfast (250B each) and were served again by Su (who was always helpful and smiling). There were other staff members (Myanmar) we didn’t get their names but thank you to them as well. Everyone was smiling, friendly, trying their best and running around for us. We then went on a snorkelling tour and when we came back went to our room which had been spotlessly cleaned with fresh towels etc. We then showered and went for dinner inside the restaurant because it was raining outside. For dinner we had Ka Pow (prawns/basil). Red Curry. Sweet and Sour Pork, coconut chicken soup (again). 4 drinks. It cost 870 Baht. The food at this place was probably the best of our entire trip. Unbelievably tasty I wanted to thank the chef. We then went and played a game of pool in the bar and then went back to the room and fell instantly asleep. The following morning a songthaews had been arranged for 8am to take us to the pier. The end! So, the night before we are at Suranthiya Koh Phangan and they are very similar. Only Suranthiya is about £350 per night and this place was about £40. I think in the 1990’s/2000’s this was Koh Tao’s Suranthiya. Heerlijk resort waar we in de family beach bungalow zijn verbleven. Hele fijne accommodatie. Alles was heel schoon en personeel erg vriendelijke. Vooral Tida die ons 2 keer heeft geholpen in het restaurant was heel behulpzaam.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Taatoh Seaville Resort in Koh Tao. We stayed for 2 nights and were blown away by the size of our balcony overlooking Sharks Bay which also had easy access to the bay. Our room balcony provided for a breathtaking view point which had me pinching myself the entire 2 nights we were here. The room itself was basic but acceptable and we had a huge bathroom which was also nice. We found the staff to be professional and accommodative. And we found the food to be inexpensive and satisfying. Overall, this was an incredible stay. For only 1900 THB per night I highly recommend getting the unit with the large balcony overlooking Shark’s Bay. You won't be disappointed !
