Very convenient location near Gion and Kiyomizu Dera. The hotel owner is very kind and take care of guests very excellent. Price is reasonable. I will come back to stay for sure.

Spotlessly clean and tidy. It's a traditional Japanese ryokan, exactly as the name suggests. The atmosphere was fantastic. That said, this style of accommodation does come with a couple of drawbacks: limited power outlets and a shared toilet.

If you want a place that feels like a tradicional house of anime it’s your place, the owners are the best, I really recommend this place

Good and beautiful Ryokan near several temples and walking distance from gion neighbourhood. Owners are nice and speak English. Be aware that it is traditional style Ryokan so the bathroom are shared with other guest, sometimes up to four people at the same time. If you don't mind that then I recommend this place.

The room is great, the service is good, the location is excellent, and you can walk to Kiyomizu Temple, Ninenzaka, and Threenzaka

The hotel manager? He is very kind and the facilities are Japanese tatami rooms and especially the comforters that are laid out for you when you come back from the hotel are so soft that you can fall asleep easily. There is a hot water pot in the room for tea and the shower is available at a set time.

It was an old but clean and charming place. The manager was also friendly. However, please note that the bathroom and shower are in the public area outside the room. The bedding you slept on during breakfast was cleaned. So it is a good idea to organize your personal belongings to some extent before going to breakfast.

First of all, the owner was very kind! I arrived before check-in time, and they left my luggage for me and gave me a tourist brochure. Also, yukatas were provided in the room, and the blankets were soft and warm! There was a bit of a draft, but it got hot right away when I turned on the heating. The bath was quite spacious, warm and nice. Hair dryer, toner, lotion, comb, cotton swab, etc. were all provided👍Instead, it was provided on the first floor where the bathtub is, so it was inconvenient to have to go down the stairs to use it, but it didn't matter since I was going to use it after washing anyway. I really recommend breakfast too! They let me decide when I would eat breakfast when I checked in, and when that time came, they woke me up by phone. It was great to have the experience of eating breakfast while wearing a yukata haha. If I visit Kyoto again, I definitely want to come back!

Other aspects, if you are not trying something new, I don't recommend you to book a Japanese hotel. The reasons are as follows 1. There is no private bathroom, and the public bathroom is too small to sit at all. There is no hot water in the public washbasin. 2. Tatami is too cold in winter, because the cold air sinks and the hot air rises, so the floor is always the coldest in the room. You need to turn on a large air conditioner, and you will feel hot in the room to sleep comfortably. 3. The corridor is low and it is easy to bump into each other. Service: Good. The boss personally received you and was very polite. And your name is marked on your slippers, which makes you feel very valued. Sanitation: Good. In such a narrow and cramped environment, the sanitation is so good, without any odor. Awesome.
