A very clean and cosy hotel in the Gion area. It was a very nice and spacious room. I already advised this hotel to a good friend of mine who is going to Kyoto in July

Great location! No amenities and they are very calculative with the freebies. Like 2 water bottles per day only, 2 coffee etc.

Love it. Spacious room with perfect facilities. TV with Netflix and Youtube, room heater even in the bathroom, smart toilet, location is walkable to lots of attractions in Kyoto. Staffs are helpful just keep in mind the frond desk is not 24 hrs. Highly recommend.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and helped me book a reservation at Piaoting, a 400-year-old restaurant. The ambiance was beautiful, and the surrounding area was very convenient. I would definitely choose this restaurant again in the future. Highly recommended.

The first hotel in Japan, the 30-square-meter room is the largest room we stayed in during this trip. It has complete facilities, including a smart bathroom and iron... Good service, close to attractions, 10 minutes walk to Yasaka Shrine, a few minutes to Shirakawa, and 30 minutes to Kiyomizu Temple. The price was a bit expensive when we booked it, 2k per night... There is a small shrine next door.

The room design is very reasonable. The toilet is a separate room near the door. The washroom and bedroom have separate doors that can be closed. If two people live together, one of them will not disturb the other person when he gets up at night. This is my favorite place. There is no service. I stayed for two days and only saw one person sitting at the front desk, who was responsible for checking in and out. Various toiletries are placed in the elevator room on the first floor of the hotel. You can pick them up if you need them. The location of the hotel is very good and it is convenient to go everywhere. The room is not big, but it is fully equipped. The bedside is flat, where you can put your mobile phone to charge, and you can also put books or other personal items.

Very good stay experience

The location is near Hachiban Shrine and Hanamikoji, and the location is convenient The hygiene situation is generally good, but I found someone else's false eyelashes in the bath towel, which was a bit scary.

The most satisfying thing about the hotel is that the room is large, about 32 square meters. The location is excellent, about 200 meters walk from the bus stop - Gion Station. It's about 8-10 minutes' walk from Yasaka Shrine. The hotel will not clean during your stay, but towels and bath towels required for the number of days of stay will be prepared in the room in advance. If you don't have enough dental kit, you can get it from the table at the elevator entrance on the first floor. Japanese yukata is also provided in the room. No breakfast provided. The hotel sells one-day bus cards. Traveling by bus in Kyoto is more convenient and cheaper than the subway. It is especially recommended to buy a one-day bus card - 700 yen each. Unlimited rides within a day, no matter how many stops, cost 230 yen. You only need to ride 4 times to earn back.

In one word – bad!

We stayed at the Yoin Hotel Kyoto Gion four nights during our 10 days in Japan for autumn colors. The hotel is ideally located in the middle of the Gion. It’s located on a small street/alley with discreet front door leading into a nice modern boutique hotel creating a nice ambience. Our room had a small hallway separating the entry, bathroom and bedroom. Our room was spacious, well-appointed and quiet. Overall, we liked the room’s layout, decor and ambience of the room. We found the beds and pillows firmer than we would like. We also could not control the temperature of the room, which sometimes for sleeping is too warm or without enough airflow. The hotel does not have laundry and we ended carrying our laundry to one of their suggested laundromats 10 minutes away. Overall, I would probably stay here again, and it would be my first choice if they had softer beds and pillows along with some way to control room temperature (or lower temperature setting) or create airflow for sleeping. Given beds and lack of temperature controls I would rate hotel 4.5 instead of 5. With this in mind I would recommend others consider Yoin Hotel Kyoto Gion.

Nagomi on the front counter could not have been more accommodating. Made sure that our stay was the best, and it was, plus had service crew promptly adress detail with ac unit. We would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a central location, close to bus and subway as well as the gion district. The room has coffee maker as well as tea pot, refrigerator and couch with small table. Would have been convenient with breakfast room but we picked up a few things for breakfast and that worked out well. The bathroom is next level and has both tub and shower, heated plus my wife’s favorite Mr Toto. Asked for a taxi to the train station and it was there within 4 minutes.
