Great environment, service, and location!

Prime location, near lots of shops and walking streets. The building itself is okay maintained, but the room internal and amenity is quite outdated. The breakfast is okay.

Great ameneties, clean rooms and close to nishiki market. Only issue is that the hotel is a 10min walk from the nearest station.

The service is very thoughtful. They will help store shoes and move luggage. Unfortunately, breakfast was not ordered in advance and cannot be ordered temporarily. There are many shopping streets around the hotel, and it is very convenient to eat. By the way, I recommend a barbecue restaurant called Asuka BBQ at the entrance of Nishiki Market, which you can walk in directly. The Japanese style of the room is very comfortable. I stayed in the Orange Room. There is a small courtyard view outside the room window, and there is also an independent bathroom. The Japanese-style integrated bathroom experience is good. There is also a courtyard on the first floor to visit. I didn't experience the big bath on the underground floor. The family room has two rooms and a separate bathroom and shower room. The Japanese wooden structure is also very distinctive. There is a hot spring downstairs, and there is a small and exquisite Japanese garden. Most of the waiters are older and very polite. If you book a one-night stay and two-meals plan, both breakfast and dinner are Japanese. Dinner will be delivered to the room, and it will be served in several rounds before the next few dishes. The dishes are different for three nights, and the third night is shabu-shabu. Breakfast is eaten in the restaurant, and the table is full of various small dishes or boiled food. In terms of taste, most of the dishes are OK, and it is still good as a special experience. Disadvantages: The booking rules are very rigid. My husband and I, a couple, are traveling with a one-year-old child. The system only allows us to book a family room with three meals, and the price is based on three adults. But in reality, the child can only eat a small portion of the food, and most of it is wasted.

Fortunately, I woke up early and prepared to go to the bathroom, and I heard someone trying to open the door. I shouted and stopped. When I got dressed and opened the door, there was no one in the corridor. After a while, I heard movement outside, and saw a woman in her 40s or 50s opening the door of another room. I went over to ask her in English if she was the one who opened my door just now, and she gestured to indicate that she didn't understand. The hotel later sent an email admitting that it was their staff. Too bad

The best experience in Kyoto! This Japanese hotel is really worth a try! Although it is a little more expensive than other hotels, it is super worth it! Be sure to experience the breakfast, the Japanese breakfast is very delicious!

The private bathhouse here is very nice and inexpensive. It is perfect for relaxing after a day of walking. It is very close to Nishiki Market and there are many shopping areas within walking distance.

I have been to Japan several times, but this is the first time I stayed in a Japanese hotel. The service was very good. When I checked in, the old man introduced the whole process in Chinese. The front desk and service staff had no problem communicating in English. You can try the Japanese breakfast in the hotel, but the time is relatively early. There are three times to choose from: 7:00/7:30/8:00. I chose 8:00, but I still struggled to get up every day. People who are used to getting up early can try it. You can eat out for dinner. Any restaurant you walk in nearby is delicious. There is also a puffer fish restaurant next door. It is convenient for travel and the commercial street is a few steps away. I will stay here again next time I come to Kyoto.

I stayed here with my family in 2018. This time, I chose Sunrise again. The main reason is that the location is very good. It is not far from Karasuma Oike, Karasuma Station and Sanjo Station. There is a shopping street outside. I also like to stay in Japanese-style inns. The quilt is very soft and the sleep is very comfortable. Moreover, the area is much larger than that of a hotel. The toilet and bathroom are separate. There is also a large public bath downstairs. It is very comfortable to soak in it when you are tired of walking around. A small snack is delivered every day. Except for the breakfast I ordered last time, I didn’t order it this time because I thought it was average. I will still choose this place next time.
