It had been years since I last stayed at a Premier Inn, but with Travelodge fully booked, I decided to give it a try. This particular hotel is located in the town center within a converted older building. Parking is charged separately, which is worth noting. Upon arrival, the reception team was welcoming and accommodating. They did apologize for ongoing maintenance work due to an external water leak. However, the lift area felt a bit unpleasant, with a strange smell and a general sense of being unclean—likely related to the maintenance issues. My room was on the third floor, facing away from the main road. While it was quiet, the first thing I noticed was how hot the room was. Unfortunately, the window couldn’t be opened because the handle had been removed. A notice on the window claimed there was ”sufficient airflow,” but this wasn’t my experience. The heating system wouldn’t go below 17°C, making the room uncomfortably warm and stuffy, with no fresh air circulating. This made for a restless night. The room itself was showing signs of wear and tear, likely due to its popularity. While the bed was adequate, I found it less comfortable than the updated ones at Travelodge. For me, the higher cost of this Premier Inn compared to Travelodge didn’t feel justified. Although the hotel does offer a bar and food options, the overall experience didn’t meet my expectations. I’ve given this stay 3 stars, primarily due to the room temperature and the inability to open a window for fresh air. I’ll remain open-minded and try another Premier Inn in the future, but this experience fell short of what I anticipated. ---
