Hostellerie Hof Ter Doest

We stayed there for one night to celebrate our engagement. The room was nice but after dinner, the electricity went off and the fire alarm started beeping in the hall. As no emergency number had been provided, we tried to call the numbers we could find with no success, and finally managed to get someone to help by waking up a person that lived nearby and called the manager for us. This was at 10:30pm. Several people came to help in a very nice but totally inefficient manner. After nearly 1 hour , we asked for candles as we were tired and wanted to go to bed. They brought them as the electricity came back and left. The next morning, we were surprised to find we barely received a minimal apology and no compensation whatsoever was offered. When asked, we were offered a bottle of their house wine, while being invited to pay the full amount of the stay. We feel this is a very poor treatment for the level of inconvenience we experienced and in comparison to the value the hotel presumes. The room is nice but don't expect any appreciation of customer service. And if anything goes wrong, you're on your own and will have to pay as if nothing happened. A pity as this could be a great place if the customer service was better.

Hotel: leuke kamer, goed bed, fijne sanitaire voorzieningen alleen wat gehorig naar de bovenburen toe( houten vloer die fel kraakte). Gratis sauna viel goed mee, alleen douche die naar verkeerde kant afloopt(schoeisel kan nat worden). Restaurant: wij hebben heel lekker gegeten van de zeeer ruime porties. Alleen spijtig dat de omgeving van het tafeltje onder het overdekt terras niet al te proper was.(zoals bv. De zeer vuile venster en vensterbank naast ons tafeltje op hoogte van ons bord).
