Hotel berhampiran University Residence Benjamin Delessert CROUS, Lyon

Despite it's a modern bulding, dating from the last decade, air conditionning NEVER worked. In Lyon, a city which facing regularly heatwaves (up to 40° C / 104 ° F) !!! Very poor service from ”Appart' City” brand, belonging to ”Park & Suites” group. *********** Futhermore, front desk staff seem to be mythomaniac : - the first, an man speaking French with an Italian accent, told me his manager would be there at around 07.30 on following morning. He also precised this manager was used to reimburse up to 70 % of stay's rate, due to the default aircon. - the second told me his colleague gave me false informations. She gave me the e-mail of the Back Office and recommended me to deal this issue directly with the (supposed to be) manager. This last was of course not there and front desk staff is not allowed to give her phone number. Both told me they were supposed to fix definitely aircon but when first lockdown happened in March 2020, they ran out of money. With that poor service (NO aircon, broken fan, etc...) don't waste your money for that society... It would be not a huge loss if they are going bankrupt... ******** I wrote an e-mail to this Back Office and to Appart'City HQ. NONE of them bothered themselves to answer. Lyon Gerland's Back Office did not even read my claim, written in French (see snapshot) ******** (As a native French, I chose to write this TripAdvisor rating in English. There are aleady plenty of ratings in French. I just should have read them first before booking...)

Conveniently located right next to the metro station. Staff that helped us check in was nice. There is a passcode to enter pass 8:30 pm. One bad thing about the hotel is there is no housekeeping to make the room and we were not make aware of that by the staff, but we were staying only for 2 nights maybe that’s why. One other thing was that sound proofing was not the best (i could hear people opening and closing doors and cars driving by) but this did not affect my stay much.

Chambre confort avec literie très confortable. Seul point négatif: le bruit des trains dans la chambre qui m'a réveillé dès 6h... Et La personne présente à l'accueil le 8 juin n'était pas très agréable.

L'arrivée doit se faire à 17h,les gels douches, une goutte dans un tout petit flacon, la télévision qui ne fonctionne pas et à la réception ils ne savent pas... Et le départ c'est à 11h et non midi. Le seul truc positif, ils vous garde les bagages !

Um hostel novinho, bem decorado, perto de restaurantes e a 15min caminhando do Vieux Lyon. Tínhamos 2 banheiros e 2 wc no nosso quarto de 10 camas, o que facilita muito, além disso tudo bem limpo. A equipe está sempre a disposição, nos dando dicas de restaurantes e lugares a visitar. O bar / restaurante é bem decorado, com área externa e interna. Atenção: o preço do bar é um pouco elevado para um hostel, mas o ambiente é super agradável. Obrigada, equipe Pilo

I recently stayed at the Eklo Lyon hotel and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. The hotel is incredibly clean and well-maintained, with a modern and stylish decor that creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. But what really stood out to me was the friendly and accommodating staff. Everyone I interacted with was genuinely welcoming and eager to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Lyon, with the Tram conveniently located right in front of the hotel. This makes it incredibly easy to get to the city center and explore all that Lyon has to offer. Additionally, the hotel has a great vibe, with a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The breakfast at the hotel was also a highlight. There were plenty of options available, with something to suit every taste. From fresh pastries to eggs, everything was delicious and well-prepared. Overall, I highly recommend the Eklo Lyon hotel. The combination of its clean and comfortable rooms, convenient location, friendly staff, and delicious breakfast make it a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Lyon.

Voyageant en famille à 3, nous avons réservé la Suite Exécutive avec la terrasse, un lit double et un canapé-lit convertible. Notre arrivée vers 1h00 s’est bien passée, un appel à l’hôtel la veille nous a permis d’apprendre le protocole à suivre pour les arrivées tardives 👌🏼 La terrasse était parfaite pour le café clope du matin, moins le café mais j’y reviendrais plus tard. Petit (littéralement) déjeuner disponible en bas à côté de la réception, d’ailleurs les demoiselles de la réception étaient très aimables. Malheureusement, c’est là où les points positifs s’arrêtent ; ni draps ni housses n’étaient trouvables pour le canapé-lit, le matelas de ce dernier étant bien jaune j’ai préféré le retransformer en canapé et dormir de cette façon bien qu’il ai un renfoncement important au milieu. Pas de machine à café dans la Suite Exécutive, enfin si: il y a une nespresso dans le placard central de la kitchenette mais pas de capsule. Impossible de commander quoi que ce soit via l’application qu’ils proposent de scanner non plus, rien n’était disponible pour le jour J il faut donc prévoir le café du lendemain? La poignée de douche tient sur un support à moitié cassé mais ça marche donc 🤷🏽♂️ Ah et j’ai failli m’enfermer dans le sas en voulant ouvrir la porte à mon père, puisqu’il faut la carte pour avoir l’électricité, attention avec la carte magnétique.

After a long travel day, I just needed a cool, quiet, dark room with a comfortable bed to help put some jet lag behind me. After checking in, I went to my assigned room to find that is was rather warm. I visited a colleague’s room to see if perhaps all the rooms were warm or if it was just mine, and my colleague’s room was cooler. I reported to the front desk and asked for assistance. The front desk was attentive and responsive, but suggested I give it a few hours to cool down. We ate dinner in the on-site restaurant (which was fantastic) before returning to the room. After two hours, the room was still hot (24-25C) so I asked for a different room. I was given a different room but on the same sunny side of the hotel. The room may have been a little cooler, but not much. Perhaps the A/C is not adequate to overcome the heat transfer through the aluminum window frames or perhaps ok just tried two different hot rooms, but I’d urge caution if staying here on a warm day. I stayed in March (when it was much cooler) and had a very pleasant stay. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, the amenities are nice. If staying on a warm day, I’d suggest a room on the back of the hotel. Perhaps it would be cooler.

At a guess, we have stayed at this Hotel 8-10 times over the past years. I am sorry to say that after our last experience, we will never stay there again. As a 5 Star Hotel, it was slipshod and dissappointing. On arrival, at 16.45 there was nobody on the Reception Desk, but there was a sign which said ” There is nobody on Reception at present, please take a seat and wait ! There is still construction works going on at the adjacent ****** and there are now only 4 parking spaces for guests. which includes one for disabled and one for electric car charging. The only parking is an unattended open car park some 800 metres from the Hotel and I was not prepared to leave a £200,000 car loaded with luggage, laptops, phones and personal items there. The Receptionist agreed that I could occupy a disabled person's bay on the proviso that he could move it if required. The suite on the mezzanine floor was fine apart from the following;_ - Only 5 TV channels none English. - No Notepad or pen. - No list of Telephone numbers to call reception or room service. - Ony 2 towels for 3 persons, when charged extra for 16 year old granddaughter to stay in the suite. Same for Glasses, cups, Tea bags milk. Just 2 for 3 persons. - The Wifi was awful and kept logging you off. Later found out that you could log in using any old name name and email address you cared to enter ! _ One Loo roll ,part used and no spare. - A Huge Stag Beetle was discovered on the sofa and at that point we had not opened the doors to the balcony. We were aware that the main Restaurant would be closed on the Tuesday that we arrived ,but shortly before we left England I received an email that room service would not be available either but we could have a cold meal in our room.Oh well onwards and upwards ! The cold meal turned out to be a choice between smoked salmon, cheese or cold meats each served with bread and butter. No desserts, not even Ice cream. Anyway, we opted for 2 salmon and 1 cheese. After a long wait, the receptionist knocked on the door with the salmon and cheese and a basket of bread which he had himself prepared and it comprised a single baguette cut up into slices and 3 pats of butter. The salmon was just as if it has come out of a packet and there were 6 miserable slices of 3 different cheeses. The cost for this gastronomic extravaganza was €127.00 which included Room service and a warm bottle of white wine( No Ice bucket either). Total cost for a nights stopover with breakfast with hard sausage and rubber bacon was €603.60. Sorry Pavillon, don't expect to see me again.

I called Novotel today in panic as my parents were robbed and had no cash or creditcard with them. Mathilda was professional and kind to help me book one night hotel for my parents. Thank you so much for your help and highly recommend this hotel.
