This is the first time we have stayed in a property in this price range that was badly antiquated, poorly run, and lacked any modern management that we wanted to escape almost directly after checking in. We should have been more conscious honestly after reading the TA reviews as the management apparently only responds to positive reviews but never to negative ones....a clear sign there is a lack of any accountability or leadership in a property honestly. Beyond the poor communications in advance of our stay we have to say that the rooms have not been refurbished since the 1970s at best and were stuffy, dark, and kind of sad honestly to the point where we worried about sticking to something. While some of the junior staff were friendly enough, the communication with management was poor and when we asked how we could best accomodate the needs of our children, we were simply told that one could sleep in our bed and they could set up a crib for the other child....at a rental cost of 15 euro a day!!!!! In my decades of traveling I have not ever found a single 4 star property that charged a daily rate on using a baby crib in a room and in general this left us the rather pressing feeling that families are not welcome here! Otherwise, if you are taking a train to Maastricht it is an ideal location as the hotel is located almost directly next to the train station and the noise is not so bad at night. In general though, this property felt like an obsolete dinosaur with no central leadership or accountability to its guests. The sad fact though is that with one of the Netherland's best hospitality schools based within the city limits, this poor service could easily be remedied we argued with some fresh blood and investment, but instead it looks like the owners just want to rest on the Amrath's accolades (and its presumed '4 stars') from yesteryear. A true pity and waste of money these days especially in such a hospitable city as Maasstricht where the Crowne Plaza nearby is clean, well run, and equally convenient.

COVID-19 has caused us all one way or another losses and hardship but to find a hotel like easyHotel Maastricht City Centre makes me contribute to recovering their losses is not expected and unfair. Booking.com made the reservation with easyHotel Maastricht in November 2019 before COVID-19 arrived, for 2 nights in July 2020 as we were attending an Andre Rieu concert which was then postponed. I followed the directions and recommendations of the ECC Net to act in good faith with contributing to the survival of suppliers, however easyHotel sadly didn’t follow the Unfair Contract Terms Directive 93/13/EEC and Pursuant to Book 6, article 265 of the Dutch Civil Code. The concert was rescheduled to July 2021 and Booking.com did reschedule the hotel dates however COVID-19 again cancelled the concert and the concert was changed to July 2022 but Booking.com didn’t answer my requests and I had no option but to contact easyHotel which did reschedule the date.but now my wife has had to have chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. The treatment was in October 2021 and expected to be completed in December 2021 and we still planned to come to the Netherlands after receiving all her previous and current vaccines but in May the hospital told us that she was immunocompromised and despite receiving three COVID-19 vaccines and would still need hospital treatment plus it was too dangerous to travel due to COVID-19. The concert couldn’t transfer the tickets to July 2023 and offered a refund but easyHotel couldn’t change the date and refused to refund. Even when I had found a couple who were wanting to take over the reservation, a day before the reservation, easyHotel didn’t reply to an email I'd sent until mid afternoon of the day of the booking, too late for the couple as they had found another hotel Let something positive come out of this virus and support the hotels, travel insurances and other business that followed the guidelines by working with their customers and report business and hotels like easyHotel and Booking.com which feel that travellers should pay for their losses and can’t be trusted to do the right thing. Also didn’t receive any help after requesting a voucher from Booking.com. My initial flights from Australia to the Netherlands for 2 was AU$2500 in 2020 and this year now costs about AU$8200 so we have losses too but I don’t expect easyHotel to pay for it. Anyone who have still not received a refund from easyHotel or easyHotelbenelux and is interested to commence a class action please message me. Please help travellers by adding your hotel to the list. Stayed here whilst visiting Maastricht with my wife. It’s a great location only 3 minutes walk from the centre and 10 minutes walk to the Vrijthof. Service was excellent, room was clean and comfortable with air conditioning. We’ll be back!

This is a very nice place and probably we would stay again. It is in a historic building and that comes with certain quirks. The biggest thing to know is it’s not for people who are physically limited. You don’t park near the entrance and there are no elevators to the room. Everything has steps and there is no assistance offered, so unless you get a ground floor room you are toting your bags up the narrow steps. We are fully able so it wasn’t a problem. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff generally very nice and helpful. It’s a bit odd though as it combines high luxury with low frills, such as no help with bags. They seemed a bit understaffed. The food is great but expensive if you dine in. Not unreasonable for the food but high for every day dining. Overall the stay was very good but a bit on the expensive side. One oddity was we wanted to stay an extra night ( we emailed a few weeks ahead and got no reply) and when we inquired as we checked in were told they had a room but they couldn’t book us at the front desk we had go online. We decided to move on.

Pro - Nice beds, but is was a twin bed, so you had a split between the two beds - nice rain shower - good selection of breakfast in nearby La Place including children’s playground - free parking Con -No soap tray - Water leaks a bit into the bathroom floor - Not all rooms had tea cups - choose for rooms at the air side other rooms are right next to highway

The place is amazing, very well maintained and decorated with class and elegance. Honestly what made the stay wonderful, is the professionality, style, exceptional kindness and education of the staff. I travel often for work but rarely I have found such competent personnel. My compliments to them absolutely well deserved. I will surely come back for other stays.

This is a great boutique hotel right in the heart of beautiful Maastricht. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a huge shower and patio doors opening to the terrace. The location is perfect, looking out to the Vrijthof. Lots of lovey bars, restaurants and shops on your doorstep. It’s easy to walk everywhere from the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff who helped enhance our very enjoyable stay. We would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Maastricht.

As in many European cities this hotel is the result of a conversion of old buildings with some additions. This makes the whole atmosphere very cozy and charming and in touch with what you would expect when visiting Maastricht. The location is perfect facing de Virjthof square, with a municipal parking garage just crossing the street and in the middle of everything worth visiting in the city. Lot of restaurants just around the corners. We had a superior suite, generous in size, with a bathroom with an unusual layout due to the bedroom being in what I guess was a former dining room. The shower cabin was very nice and everything worked well. AC with 2 equipments in bedroom and living room worked well as did internet. Breakfast was exceptionally good. Served not in a buffet style because the hotel is very small, but with high quality ingredientes and everything you might desire. The guy running the breakfast was very kind and efficient. Check out was done quickly and with no problems. Check in could have been more explicit regarding information about certain limitations of the hotel having nobody in reception after 18:00. Concierge service is non existent. The Spa is in the modern add on building. Tasteful, modern, with a plunge pool and saunas, it makes a good impression. At night the breakfast room is used as a restaurant with a charming patio. Conclusion : a charming European boutique hotel with modern amenities, modern decor, housed in old preserved buildings, with a nice spa, limited reception service and very good breakfast.
