Smeralda Beach Hotel Dikwella

At the arrival we were a little bit scared because of weather but we are able to do some excursions with the help of Wazeem on raining days. Food was vey good and a break from spicy local food. Room were clean and the view is amazing. Thanks to chef Brayan and Andrea for the help

Good restaurant, large portions of seafood served but the room quality was poor. Building looks shabby with dark narrow non ventilated corridors. Room doors won't close properly with half broken locks and gaps. Bathroom door doesn't have a latch and can see cement scalings on tiles. Walls have blisters due to water leaks. Hot water stopped halfway having a shower. Staff seems to be friendly and helpful they carried our luggage from vehicle which was parked on roadside upto first floor as there was no parking space within premises and no lift or elevator. All in all, the place needs a good renovation to match the photos that we see on the advertisement.

What a lovely friendly small hotel with swimming pool right on the beach in Dickwella. The staff are all so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us . Every single member of the team just went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our holiday. We were there for three weeks and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We stayed at this hotel like group of 5 people only for 2 nigths and thanks to great food and nice staff we would stay here longer! We chose this hotel because we wanted to try surf on Hiri beach but we wanted to stay somewhere near by and Smeralda hotel is great choice. The hotel is cute smaller, only a few rooms. There are a lot of staff who will take care of you and smile at you all the time. The rooms was smaller but cute and comfy. Every room has a seaview. One group stayed in 3 beds room, and the rest of our group on double beds room. We had enough space for two nights. There is no mosquito net, but we did not need it. :) The room and bathroom are clean. The hotel is right on the beach which was empty, I don't know if it was because we were here off season. You can lie on a sunbeds either in the garden by the pool or on the sand. But there are only 10 sunbeds max. There is NO LIFEGUARD but we enjoyed staying in the sea. One day there were bigger waves, the next day smaller, but of the beaches which we visited in Sri Lanka, this beach was the most suitable places for swimming in the sea. Unfortunately there is a stream which flows by the hotel, which smells a bit uninviting. You can walk on the beach or you can catch tuktuk and you can go on Hiri beach for example to swim or try surfing or you can go to other beaches. Also we want for a walk to the city - to the some supermarkets and shops. You can go on the beach Dikwella or to the city for shopping, but the better way is catch tuktuk or taxi and visit some other beaches or places. We had a halfboard and it was the best food on our holiday! We could choose breakfast from the menu and there was so much to choose from that we're sad we couldn't try it all. The portions were huge, it kept us full for the whole day. For dinner, the guest also chooses from the menu - an appetizer that was as filling as a main course, a main course and a dessert. We couldn't believe for the first time that all three courses are included in the half board! Every time everything was delicious, fresh and very filling.

This is a charmer of a property that represents and demonstrates every element and aspect of a truly boutique hotel - not like the cliched hotels that claim themselves to be ‘boutique’ without having any character. Right from the moment you step in until you check out, you will feel cozy and embraced by the warmest hospitality while getting treated to fine creature comforts and tastefully decorated amenities and facilities. If you are looking to stay in a place with character and tired of fancy big chain hotels with all-frills-and-no-charm, then this is the place for you. A real jewel in the southern province of Sri Lanka LOCATION: Located in the heart of Dickwella Beach and truly hugging the beach. The property is so close to the waterfront you can hear the thud of the waves from your room and balcony! DINE + DRINK: The lovely Italian restaurant is probably one of the best and most authentic in the island, thanks to the fact that the folks running the place are from Italy. The setting of the place is also wonderful as it is located wonderfully close to the ocean and some of the tables of the attached bar are sprawled across the lawns that hug the beachfront (literally!) - a great place to unwind with sundowners in the evening! ROOM: We stayed in Room 203, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Spectacular views of the beach from the lovely little balcony attached to the room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality toiletries FACILITIES: No Gym on site, but the lovely Swimming pool located right next to the beach comes with sweeping views of the ocean. SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. We were two families with three teenagers aged 13-18 who stayed at this wonderful boutique hotel for 4 nights. We occupied 3 out of the in total 8 rooms, and had a fabulous time! The hotel is placed right at the beach with an amazing ocean view and also has a fresh water pool. Spacious baths, high quality linens, sea view and well stacked mini bars in all rooms - and colors that take you right to Italy 😍 The owners, Daria and Andrea, with their super friendly yet highly professional staff, made us feel at home. And the food!!! Mouth watering delicacies combining the best of Sri Lankan and Italian cuisine. We absolutely adore staying at this hotel!! 🥰🤩
