We have just returned home after 10 days at Anantara Iko…wow! Just wow. The hotel itself is beautiful, still very modern and fresh with it only being 5 years old. The entire resort is simply spotless! The cleaning team do a fabulous job throughout the day to ensure all public areas (and also the rooms) remain in the best shape. The bar and restaurant staff are some of the most friendly and hardworking people we’ve come across in any resort! They get to know you and your personal preferences within a couple of days and are happy to make recommendations based on their observations, it’s a real joy when they’re suggesting cocktails you might not think to try yourself! They were very attentive throughout our entire stay, clearly their main goal is guest comfort & relaxation. They really couldn’t do more for us during our time there. I'd love to do shout-outs by name but there's just too many in all honesty. The regular smiling faces of the staff made the stay very enjoyable indeed. There’s more places to pitch up and hang out for the day than you know what to do with, there’s something for every preference, whether that’s the pool, the beach, the pool bar and so on. The food was stunning, even in the main buffet style restaurant (which in many resorts can lack on quality) was varied, fresh and plentiful. A personal favourite of ours was having lunch at Zen-Wei; fresh and completely delicious asian cuisine, we felt this was a lovely healthy option to have on most days, even though both Karokan and S.F.S also have a wonderful menu. Our only comment / feedback would be to share the resort's itinerary for the day in a much clearer way. We had no idea we were missing out on things like rum tasting on the beach until we saw a small printed daily itinerary in the spa reception. It feels like the guests could be better informed in very easy ways such as leaving the same info at the bar, maybe receiving a print out in the rooms the day before for example. This would mean a lot more of the extra experiences (they are mostly all inclusive!) would have better turn outs. I imagine that not everyone gets the chance to visit the spa so easy to miss this information. We really couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more and would recommend this resort to anyone looking to experience Mauritius for the first time or a returning visit! With the added bonus of being less than 10 mins from the airport. On that note in particular, we didn't feel that being close to the airport was disruptive to our stay at all really - We had maybe 4 flights go over per day as very reasonable times. They certainly don't wake you up in the middle of the night or start super early. Well done to the team and thank you for making it a special stay! We'd love to return soon.
