Apartment was clean, spacious with great views over the water. Good position for some relaxing and scenic coastal walks. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The motel is close to shopping and some good restaurants. Having Dan Murphy's next door was an added convenience.

Rooms are $200+ a night at the moment for a very basic motel room below a pub.... In Frankston... You can get decent rooms in the Melbourne CBD for that price. Rooms have been renovated in the past few years which is nice but grouting in the bathroom isn't clean and is getting scungy. Outlook from window is over the carpark and a muddy river - no privacy if you want to leave the blinds open to let natural light in. The noise coming into the rooms is terrible - can hear everything going on in the corridor and everything happening in the carpark. Even worse is the constant scraping noise from chairs on the ceiling in the pub above (though this seems to mostly stop by about 10pm). Missing some of the little details such as only one towel and 1 drink for a two person/two bed room. Beds are firm but comfortable. On the plus side - location is fantastic if you need to be in Frankston - short walk to beach, loads of pubs, food options and shops just across the road. Free parking is plentiful (but not secure at all), free minibar is a nice touch and room service from pub upstairs is useful. Probably wouldn't consider staying here again unless the prices are lowered. Totally ok for a one night visit, if you can deal with the noise.

Very comfortable stay. Convenient location with the hotel and Dan Murphy’s right next door. Had lunch at the pub and the meal was fantastic value for money. There is also a fish n chip shop and a few other shops very close by. Would definitely recommend.

We didn’t look to the hotel for more than just a bed for the night, so didn’t check out the other facilities. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice, and the room was set up in a modern and pleasant way. The room has most of what you need but it is very small, with very little space to even set down a suitcase. I would have preferred access to a full size ironing board rather than a desktop one.

Great Southern Hotel is diagonally opposite to the Southern Cross station, where the Skybus to and ftom airport, picks and send travellers to city. Tour groups' pickup point. It has a restaurant attached to the hotel. Room is really basic and not serviced, but clean to start with.

Had seven nights in Melbourne. First three in Mercure Welcome. Not impressed. Moved to Citiclub and it’s great! Clean, much larger with a tub. Great bed and pillows. Plenty of living space and a great bathroom. Easy walk to everything and lovely staff. Best thing is hardly any visible people so easy to move around get lifts etc.

Nice, clean, comfortable place to stay with great views........especially good location for Queen Vic Market, and easy to get in and out of the downtown if driving. Only two small complains: The room had a small nespresso machine: 2 people staying for 2 nights = only 2 coffee capsules! Not quite enough. I'm sure if we had asked at reception they would have sent a couple more, but for such a small thing, you shouldnt need to ask ! The other thing is the two way light switching is quite strange. Very difficult to work out how it worked and simply turn on the light in the room you are walking into. As I said....minor grumbles, and will definately stay again. One final point.....when we checked out we enquired about the possibility and rate for a long stay (about a month or so) later in the year. The receptionist said she would email me the information. Several weeks later, and I still havnt heard anything!

pros: Good situation, Convenient transportation nearby. cons: Maybe cause of detergent or disinfectant of bed sets, I felt my skin was itchy that never happened the hotels I lived before. After I lay down in the bed for 20mins, the itchy feeling came. When I went out, no itchy feeling came. We three people lived in this hotel, I was the first person to feel that. lateron, other two felt like I was. Alo, one of staffs at the front desk is not professional, my room number is 339, I said three thirty nine, he didn't know; I said double three nine, he didn't get it ether and he said I said wrong number. I am interstate for business on a regular basis and have stayed in many well rated accommodation venues however, I struggle to find anything to criticize at this hotel. The staff are amazing - nothing is too much trouble, they do all the little things, over and above what I would expect to make you feel like a special guest. They all seemed to be ”hand-picked” to suit the service culture of the hotel. The quality and cleanliness of the facilities are A1. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. A small table & chairs, couch and huge TV were a welcome feature. The conference facilities worked well. Conference catering, breakfast room and intimate Bistro/cocktail bar offered quality food & drinks. My partner is disabled in a wheelchair and all his needs were well & truly met in a standard room. Only 1 suggestion - it would be great to have magnetic door stoppers installed so the door will stay open while moving through with the wheelchair or bags. Thank you Marriott Team, we will definitely be back :)

This is a really good quality hotel in a nice part of Melbourne. We are Accor Plus members but this night was booked using Emirates points. Accor still gave us a a top floor room with a stunning view and the usual free drink vouchers, which I didn't expect since I didn't book with them. The room was clean with the aforementioned good view and had every thing you need for a short stay. Improvements would be a coffee machine instead of simply a kettle, and a better Chromecast as the one we had just wouldn't work. These are minor issues though. Lifts were very slow, as only one seemed to be operating. Breakfast was efficient and tasty, although the included coffee could be improved and the extra charge coffee was too cold to be enjoyable. All in all an excellent hotel to stay at if you need to stay in the South Wharf end of Melbourne, and we will certainly stay again.

I shared a room here with my brother when we attended a wedding on the Peninsula. The motel was easy enough to find. I'd looked it up on the map before heading there. I kept an eye out on the left, heading east, just after Maccas, and the large sign was easy to spot from the highway. Check in was easy. The room was spacious and, if not freshly painted, was in reasonably good nick. There was a large table with chairs, a large tv mounted above it on the wall, a microwave on the bench next to the sink and, in the cupboard underneath there was a toaster, a kettle, some cups and utensils, etc. There were four tumbers and martini glasses chilling in the bar fridge. There were two double beds, the one I slept in was comfy, and a full length mirror on the door of the small wardrobe. The bathroom was also spacious. The pool looked wall maintained but I didn't use it. Neither did my brother.
