There is probably no better place to stay in Muscat than in Muttrah with the Souq, the Corniche, the Fish Market, the Fort and the excellent restaurant Bait al Luban, all in walking distance from the hotel Naseem, still the best choice around here. The people in charge of this two-star hotel must know about it and this is reflected in the price, which was considerable higher that in all the four-star hotels (also in other parts of Muscat), that I had been using on the same trip. Good about this hotel, besides the location, was the size of the room and the cleanliness. It had a big marble writing table, a very simple open wardrobe, tea and coffee making facilities with two small glasses, but no spoon. I especially missed bedlamps. AC and the shower worked well. It was quiet at night. In the bathroom there was no storage place whatsoever. The shower had no curtain, so the bathroom floor got all wet (most other rooms I saw had a curtain, but not room 209). There was no showergel, just some small bottles of shampoo and a liquid sopa by the washbasin, which again had no plug, just a big hole. There was no bathmat, no hairdryer and no glass for the toothbrush. The breakfast buffet in the Anna Café on the ground floor was quite good. I especially appreciated the American coffee. Breakfast is available from 7 to 10am.

Great location, rooms are big, it was not so clean but it was manageable. Receptionist staffs and housekeeping people are all ”strongly suggested” to go for the training to become ”well mannered and extremely polite” with all the guest. One ”exceptional” from all the receptionist is the Omani guy whose name is ”Sudiqqe” he was so helpful, always smiling and very polite, accommodating and well mannered from all. The Manager namely ”Mr. Bernard” who was so helpful, very professional and well mannered, is the one who made us feel comfortable and was trying to make us happy from the last few days of our stay in the hotel. He was the one who help us also to recovered my bottle of perfume and the pack of facemask which was ”intentionally stolen” in our room from one of the housekeeping. Overall, if your are looking for a budget friendly hotel, Mutrah hotel can be recommended.

Nice location in quiet residential area near beach. Hotel has limited parking on site. Public areas and rooms were clean. Receptionist tried to reduce to a single room from the double that I had booked. Pointed this out and was given a double ...... next to the lift, despite the hotel being practically. Poor soundproofing meant that I could hear every conversation in the corridor. Tried the pool which is on the second floor in the middle of the hotel. No towels available. I did ask a member of staff but none were forthcoming. Restaurant was empty and no bars were open as it was Eid. Service was polit and there was an extensive menu. Additional guidance on the menu explaining the dishes would have been helpful. Bar and restaurant downstairs also closed. Breakfast service staff were helpful and offered alternative options which were not laid out on buffet.

Great hospitality and good vibes , had a wonderful stay , asked for a late checkout and Brij was kind enough to provide it until 4 pm due to a late flight ( that was literally the best part ). Breakfast was better than expected , and the staff was very courteous. Rooms were of good size , with a balcony ( which we couldn’t use due to the hot weather). Staying at the Shangri La Al Husn Muscat has been one of the highlights of our time in the Middle East. We decided to go for my girlfriends birthday and the team worked exceptionally well with me to deliver a unforgettable experience. Getting to the Shangri La was a bit of a challenge and taxis do not come cheap in Oman. Though it was not challenging I do wish there was a pickup/drop off option for the guests. The inclusive breakfast was wonderful and ordering off the menu assured that everything you ordered stayed fresh. There was a mixup with our order due to a language barrier but the food was still phenomenal. The in room breakfast and room service was a highlight as it allowed you to take full advantage of the room and with the inbuilt heaters in the dining table assured the food stayed hot. The value for money on in room dining was disappointing as an order of a burger and fries came with a small amount of fries, however that was fixed with our next order. The afternoon tea was delicious, highlights being the fromage and watermelon and the scones. Each afternoon tea was different and kept the palate excited. The happy hour beverages were also included and always came with a suprise canapé from the restaurant. In terms of the staycation, it was perfect. The interior and exterior of the hotel is beautiful and the sound of the ocean left you relaxed for the stay. I would like to raise that there was a lot of sealife by the beach which deterred us from swimming in the sea as we had heard a lot about the Omani coast and didn’t have much confidence in the beach patrol and lifeguards there. We noticed some playing on their phones but they were always happy to assist taking a picture for the two of us. I would suggest a more upfront approach when it comes to what you can expect in the sea there. A visitors lounge was also available allowing you to take full opportunity of the facilities till you left for your next adventure.
