Great service from front desk. They were accommodating to early check-in and slightly late check-out depending on vacancies. Didn't check out the facilities. Breakfast wise was alright. not much varieties though. Anyway we are there to stay in the room. Room is perfectly sized and cozy for us to rest in. Highly recommend to all if you are looking for a hotel in CBD area.

Booked 3 club rooms for 3 separate nights during a multi-stop tour through Kenya. The Stanley and the 1902 lounge were one of the highlights of our trip and we would definitely stay here again and specifically book the club rooms. First of all, the staff were incredible - Emilie, Collins, Benson (1902 lounge butlers), Steve (concierge) and Susan (management) deserve special recognition. They all went above and beyond to ensure our stay was amazing. The 1902 lounge is well worth the upgrade. Soft drinks and snacks during the day, and an incredible happy hour daily from 6-8 with hard drinks and hors d'oeuvres. And if your flight is later the day of checkout, you can use the lounge throughout the day. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. We tried all 3 restaurants during our stay - The Thorn Tree cafe provides an excellent breakfast and is good for lunch. Both the Thai Chi and Pool Deck restaurants were excellent dinner choices. If you are heading on Safari or to Mombasa you can leave the luggage you don't need with the concierge, taking only the things you need for that part of the trip. This makes traveling so much easier. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious and well-appointed. As we returned to the Stanley from one of the legs of our trip, we all remarked that it felt like we were ”coming home”. Would highly recommend.

I stayed at Hemak Suites for 2 nights, and overall the place & service is ok. The hotel building is in a very busy part of the city, which doesn’t seem too safe, and the surrounding area does get quite noisy, esp. at night. The reception is on the 4th floor and the restaurant is on the 7th floor of the building. The room I stayed in on the 5th floor was ok. It was clean, & the bed was comfortable enough. However, the bathroom is quite small, & it is open as there is no door. Once you enter the door to the room, the bathroom sink is to the right, then there’s the toilet & shower, but there is no door or shower curtain that separates it from the room. It’s probably ok if you’re solo in the room, but maybe not so much for two people. At night, I could hear loud music from the nearby bars in the area & on the 2nd night, I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of loud music. But then, there was a power outage so the music stopped but then around 3am the circuit breaker in my room made a loud buzzing sound that had me worried. Needless to say, I couldn’t go back to sleep. The buzzing kept on all morning until the time I left, all the lights were flickering, and of course, the elevator didn’t work since there was no power. I got my stuff ready & left the room, and with little sleep, left the hotel at 6am to head for my Maasai Mara safari. I did notify the front desk about the loud, buzzing breaker in my room & told him that maybe they just need to switch them off with the power out, then check the other rooms. As for the restaurant, the breakfast was good, & they have a good selection of food for lunch & dinner. The staff here was also friendly, as they packed a lunch for me while I visited Nairobi National Park. I would’ve had a better time here if I had gotten some sleep the night before my long drive the next day for my safari, if it wasn’t for the loud, buzzing breaker in the room.

STAY AWAY. This hotel is a fleabag. I am a travel agent and booked this hotel for clients for one night and myself for two nights. After each changing rooms 1x, with the 2nd room being as bad or worse than the first, we left and checked in elsewhere. Upon speaking to some business contacts in Nairobi, they shared that is typical- most people check in and out within an hour. In a nutshell, the rooms were filthy. The carpet was stained and wet in some areas. The furniture was pealing and/or missing the laminate. There was no air conditioning and the windows either wouldn't open (no screens) or if open, the street noise and exhaust was overwhelming (this in just the hour we were there!). The bathroom was worse. Cracked tiles, dirty, some mold, and if there was a shower (not all rooms had one which was not disclosed) the ”shower” was a blue bucket attached to the ceiling with perforated holes. The guy at the front desk was the only good thing about the place. He was quite apologetic and asked that we wait to speak with the GM. The GM thought it was quite amusing- smirking as he spoke with us, and was unwilling to do anything for us regarding a refund. We have since recommended that ******* and all Credit Card travel programs remove this hotel from their listings- as well as advised my East Africa travel group to never recommend. They seemed to be doing some renovations (which they also didn't disclose)- removing the carpeting and putting in tile. However, in addition to all above, the room I was given had two rooms (one across hall and one next door) being renovated with the noise of that occurring as well as chemical and paint odors also permeating the hall. AGAIN. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The attending staff was so courteous at kilimambogo, she was responsive to our needs during the conference stay. Timely serving of food, and well arranged conference room. Her services were overboard I therefore recommend for her motivation as the management may wish or see best.

We have been using the Oakwood for years. It was always a reasonably priced hotel in the heart of downtown Nairobi. We decided to check it out over the weekend and it hasn't changed much apart from a new entrance that is totally out of character with the rest of this small cozy hotel. Steel grills and off white tiles really do take away the old school charm that was always something we enjoyed. It feels like walking into an antiseptic dental surgery and we immediately missed the old wood lined walls that exuded charm and warmth. The rest of The Oakwood is much the same. The marvelous ramshackle rooms and furniture remains unchanged. Unfortunately it seems the owner decided to increase the cost of a cold refreshing beer to an extortionate KSH 400! This was the subject of much discussion with the disenchanted staff reporting that customers were jumping ship for more regular prices in less iron clad establishments. Sadly we decided to follow the herd and moved on! Shame to see such a venerable old establishment fall into the same trap as so many other old charmers.....!

I have been staying at Chester House for now over 10 years whenever I visit Nairobi for business meetings. What I enjoyed most were their breakfast. It was rich in every way. Unfortunately the effects of Covid-19 led their in-house Bar & Restaurant (B & R) to close. Now they have outsourced Breakfast to two outside restaurants. For the down stairs' restaurant, their à la carte menu is never fulfilled: there is always something not available. A second cup of tea/coffee must be paid for separately. The other restaurant is closed on Sundays. Today, you can't have a late drink in the evening. The absence of an in-house B & R has made the place no longer as cosy as it used to be. If post-Covid 19 recovery has occurred, the in-house B & R should be revived. David Kampala, Uganda

I liked my stay. They allowed an early checkin at 5am and also helped me with a charger to fit the socket. Basic accomodation. I had no complaints for the price and the location was the best part about the hotel in the centre of everything
