Very good hostel, nice atmosphere, helpful staff, a lot of group activities

I had a great stay at Auberge New Orleans. I originally booked only for two nights because I thought I wouldn't get enough sleep since it's a party hostel. I planned to party on the weekend and then go to another quiet hostel to sleep it off. However, I ended up keep extending my stay until my very my last day in NOLA. I had some of my best sleeps in any hostel. The hostel has everything you need and it’s in a super quiet neighborhood. It's within walking distance to both the French Quarter and Garden District. They have events every day but make sure quiet hours are at 11 pm. Lastly, a huge shout out to Simon, Dasha, Harmonie, especially Alex and Kat, for all the recommendations and pushing me to do activities to experience the real New Orleans such as the Super Sunday. You guys are the best and made my stay. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting New Orleans

I really enjoyed my stay at Auberge NOLA. The staff were fantastic and there were always there to help with anything. The hostel was clean and the beds and linen were comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place especially for solo travellers.

For legal reasons all of this is alleged, of course. Word to the wise, especially women, there’s a predaceous atmosphere here. Seems like the intention is to hire attractive impressionable women and encourage alcohol consumption beyond belief. One of their own volunteers likened it to “sex tourism”. It makes for a weird time. Great place to go if you’re looking for underage drinking because they’ll supply that. Got my wallet stolen on Bourbon St (watch yourself if you go), can’t help but feel like part of it was the negligence of Kat the volunteer leading. She was too drunk to properly guide. She didn’t even check on me after my wallet was stolen. I don’t blame her though, it’s on the owners. They put all the responsibility on the naïve and unpaid volunteers. The owners are never around, they just do the paperwork there. I was able to make the most of the trip but overall the hostel has a weird vibe. —— If you want to know the full story; Everything turned extremely sour when there was a misunderstanding with my reservation. I don’t blame the worker who missed it, it was a simple misunderstanding. My reservation was booked for one day shorter than I thought, they didn’t catch the mistake so I slept the night there and was charged in the morning (had I known this prior I would’ve booked different hotel for the night. Due to how much sound travels in house it’s impossible to sleep). They had no card on file because I canceled it due to the theft. They would’ve been outta luck if I had refused to pay, I could’ve challenged it due to their lack of due diligence. But I enjoy being honest. Hence why I’m leaving this review. I was waiting for my mom to send her card info so I could pay and Kat insisted on watching me pack. She sat on the floor attempting to manipulate me while packing, even tho I had earbuds in. She wouldn’t let me walk away from the fight, which tells me she’s miserable in her life. Her pride finally gave up after I continued ignoring her and packing for 5 minutes. She was attempting to have me sit in the office until payment arrived, instead of packing up. Sounded counterproductive to me because I was making myself busy, having a panic attack, while waiting for my mom to send payment info. There’s only one door to leave so this intensity made no sense. She also refused to give me a towel, even though I had an hour until check out. Seemed like an ego trip for Kat. Not to mention she didn’t sleep the night before working, she was busy partying. Kat might’ve done it, but Myrridas didn’t do anything to stop her. It was so so weird. So unprovoked. Felt very “mean high school girls” which is not that you want from “professionals” while on vacation. I understanding wanting payment but I agreed to once the card info came in and I wanted to carefully pack until check out time. Kat was acting like I killed her first born baby. TL;DR: Covid outbreak at the hostel and management covered it up I strongly advise against choosing this hostel for your stay. I contracted COVID during my stay at the hostel, which management tried to conceal to protect their profits, and I was promptly evicted with less than 24 hours' notice. Despite the hostel’s initial offer to isolate in a different room, management called me in the night while I was quarantining to abruptly kick me out for being transparent about my situation with people I initially shared a room with. Management feared losing money over people understanding the health situation in the establishment. They prioritized their financial interests over the health and safety of their guests, going so far as to immediately delete my message informing others that I had Covid and remove me from the WhatsApp group chat. The management's actions revealed a blatant disregard for guest safety, even resorting to threats of involving the police when I insisted on staying isolated while looking for a new place. This hostel is a breeding ground for Covid as they keep their guests in the dark about the risks. For anyone seeking a safe and inclusive accommodation option, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere, especially if you want to avoid the risk of contracting COVID and especially not those in my circumstances as a LGBTQ+ individual in need of a safe and supportive environment. As a first-time traveler overseas and to the United States, arriving from Belgium with no support network in a foreign country, the purposeful misgendering and transphobia by this hostel's management, and complete lack of empathy and understanding of my unique situation, only added to the distress I experienced during my stay. I was bullied out of an accommodation I had fully paid for in trying to keep the hostel's own guests safe.

Definitely only stay there if you are in a certain demographics..20-35. The hostel is clean, neat, and check in is simple. But they are very unaccommodating if you are over 45. It's obvious they don't want mid- age or seniors. Stay at HI Hostel. They don't discriminate. If you love loud parties, drinking and loud music you will love I'm there.
