Renaissance New Orleans Arts Warehouse District Hotel

First the positives, great location away from the French Quarter fray and close to many great restaurants (Pêche, Emeril’s, Cochon, Sofia). Staff was friendly and responsive. AC works well and the beds are comfortable. We’ve stayed here many times over the years and consistently had good experience. The negatives? Three things: 1. First and primary there is significant construction happening, so don’t plan on sleeping in. It is constant drum beat of someone banging on a pipe. Starting around 8am. All day. Every day. Even on weekends. Even on Sunday. It really gets annoying. It’s really hard to overcome that in my review. 2. Rooms and hotel are getting really dated. Some of the furniture is scratched and partly broken. Bathrooms look tired and low end. Amenities are few, pool still isn’t open. It just doesn’t feel like a Renaissance. Hoping the construction is to update the hotel for our next trip! 3. As mentioned in previous reviews, not much of an upgrade experience for frequent travelers. The VIP room is literally a closet with small water bottles, a coffee machine, and a few chips. Normally if a lounge is closed, I get a free breakfast for two. Instead you get a $15 coupon which doesn’t buy breakfast for one in the restaurant. Food quality was pretty poor too (again, very friendly staff though). Maybe I am complaining too much about the upgrade experience, but with over 700 hotel nights at Marriott properties, I am pretty good judge about amenities and service. Bottom line: Poor review from my recent stay in April 2023 due to the constant construction noise. I’ll try to stay here again, but I’ll be checking on the construction progress before I do.

This was a nice base for our business meetings (off site) - plenty of on-site amenities and numerous walkable options. The room was quiet - I had a balcony room over the pool on the fourth floor. If the pool was busier it might be a but noisy for the second floor (opens to the pool) but my experience was quiet. The only complaint I have is not with this property specifically, but with certain Marriott hotels. As many hotels have done, Marriott has transitioned to the pump bottles on the wall in the shower. This is fine, but the font size and contrast are terrible when you are trying to distinguish shampoo from body wash. Even with my glasses I had to get close, and without them it's hopeless. Other hotels have contrasting colors and larger fonts - that's really the only issue I had with my stay.

My stay here was wonderful ❤️❤️❤️Beautiful spacious one bedroom suite with a double balcony. City views from the balcony were gorgeous. Efficient and friendly staff and food and drink were plentiful and delicious.

After an AMAZING experience at Mardi Gras 2022 (see my previous review) I was eager to rebook for Mardi Gras 2023. I received an email from the hotel in July 2022 with an offer to prebook before rooms went on sale to the general public. I jumped on it and booked two King Balcony Rooms. I paid the deposit and requested to be put in the same room we stayed in last year (corner balcony) and the adjacent room for my brother and sister-in-law. The booking was all done via email directly through the hotel, and it was an easy and smooth experience, just as it was the first time around. I received receipts which confirmed both of my requested room numbers and remaining balances that would be due upon check-in. Fast forward to last week — 5 days before the trip — I called to verify everything was good to go with our reservations, and to ask if parking would be in the same location as last year. To my surprise, it was practically impossible to reach a human being. No one answered the phone number for the front desk or customer service. I received an automated text message anytime I called, and the text would tell me to go back to the “booking platform” where I made the reservation (in my case.. direct through the hotel.. so nothing to do but call again). I eventually figured out (by calling an old number from a past email correspondence) that the hotel had changed ownership at some point since the time of my original booking. After two days, I was finally able to reach someone, only to find out that in the “transition” my two rooms had been given to someone else. I was still booked for 2 king balcony rooms, but they were not on the corner, and they weren’t even side by side. They had also increased the remaining balance due on my stay by over $400. I finally spoke with the manager, who ultimately said he couldn’t do anything about the rooms, but that if I’d provide my original receipts, he’d make sure the prices matched. I was extremely disappointed, but decided to just roll with it. We checked in and had another fantastic weekend at MG. The location of this hotel still can’t be beat, and the balcony rooms are wonderful. But the customer service level has declined TREMENDOUSLY compared to the 2022 experience we had. I understand that things happen, and that the room requests were just not relayed to the new management/ownership. But I do think something more could have been done to accommodate us. The real catalyst for this lengthy review was when I got home to find that my card had in fact been charged for the higher amount, even though I gave the manager my receipts upon check in as agreed. Now I’ll have to find a way to get a person back on the phone and hopefully have the difference refunded. I sincerely hope this place can get back to the level of service that they once provided. We still enjoyed our stay, but it wasn’t what we booked, and it definitely wasn’t for the price we were guaranteed.

Great location only minutes walking distance to the cruise port/outlet mall and is across the street from the streetcar/trolley line, and only a block from the WW2 museum. From here you can go anywhere in the city that you need. No pool but we don’t swim a whole lot so it’s not an issue. Staff was super helpful with an issue with our room and allowed us to check in early. Will gladly recommend this to anyone and will probably use it again next time we visit New Orleans.

Very nice place to stay in New Orleans. Clean and well located with professional staff. We felt safe in the area and were close to good restaurants. Walking distance to historic downtown is 25-28 minutes. We liked it very much and will come back.
