The hotel itself is amazing but: - Shower door did not close properly and therefore we got "floods" everyday in the toilet. - Mosquitos: I do understand that we are in a "wild" enviroment but it was amazing every time we open the curtain of the terrace how were falling many mosquitos. During the night, going to the toilet was an expirience as well. Too many mosquitos...they should try to do something with this. - Meals: they do not include beverage, its normal until you are charged 3'5€ for an opened bottle of water when they should serve or at least give the option to have it for free since the law says that. - Checkin: the girl of the counter just told us, "hey scan this QR code and everything is explained", why shall I download an app of the hotel? is it so hard to explain just in few second all the activities of the hotel? - Breakfast: Bakery quality worse than any other hotel I tried... Speaking about amenities hotel is perfect, big pools, nice decoration, buffet was ok and it has direct access to the beach. Its a pity that the service is not at Barcelo level standards.

We spent a wonderful 7 days in this amazing hotel. From the moment we entered the Barcelo Cabo de Gata and first met the receptionist, we always felt the great attention to us as guests, the friendliness of the staff and the high level of professionalism that they demonstrated every day. Whether it was the receptionist, the restaurant staff, the room service - everyone at the hotel was just great. As a family of four, we stayed in two spacious double rooms that were perfectly cleaned every day. The comfort of the beds is wonderful and they have all the necessary amenities. The concept of three swimming pools for children and adults is a great idea, which gives a great chance to always find a free sun lounger by the pool at any time when you go there. If you like to walk or jog, you will hardly find a better place in the area for this purpose than the beautiful palm park with special paths and right next to the sea, which is right there. We had the all inclusive package and when we say all inclusive we mean literally everything inclusive unlike other places that don't offer drinks or give you poor quality water based cocktails. The service in the restaurant was a great experience - excellent quality of food - fresh, tasty dishes and always a great variety of dishes. Overall there is not a single reason I could mention in my review. Everything was just superb.

I am currently staying at this hotel for a week with the all inclusive option. The food ,staff and accommodation are very good, there are no complaints with any of this. However, I did expect to be able to use all pool areas to sunbathe in, not be restricted to one small pool area. On our first morning I have witnessed the pool attendant making people move. It is advertised as a multi pool hotel I understand if they don’t want to open all the pools for swimming in the quieter seasons, but some of us wish to sunbathe in a more peaceful location, not all be herded together in one small area. They do not open the pool are until 10:30am which is fine but I feel that this would not suit some people

This Hotel has had a recent renovation & from a distance it looks great. The staff are all lovely & the multiple pool areas are all excellent. However behind the grand exterior is where the cracks start to show. The wooden balustrade on our balcony was rotten & the struts not secure, all the electrical fittings in our beautifully decorated bedroom were ancient & some not secured to the wall properly. The shower control unit was loose in the shower cubicle. We had multiple issues with key cards not working. The buffet food was on the main dreadful, overcooked & tasteless. The food served from the bar was totally different almost as if completely different chef & kitchen involved. There is very little to do in the area unless you Golf. The bus to Almeria is just over €1 so that was a bonus. If you want to sit next to a pool for a week & eat bland food then this is the place for you.

Overall Quality of hotel is good, but quality of food in restaurant too poor. Swimming pool opening times are just bad. No beds on beach

Very Spanish feel to the hotel which is why we selected it. Most guests are from Spain and the hotel hosts Weddings and corporate events. It was nice to see the local culture. The rooms have been refurbished and were very comfortable. It was nice having a ceiling fan in addition to the aircon as it could be left on at night and was really quiet. The pools are kept very clean. While we there the Lifeguards restricted access to the pools they were not attending. Plenty of Sun loungers and shade from fixed canopies. The food was very good. Only downside was the allergy labelling was not present so i passed on some dishes i was unsure of. There were notes to discuss with staff for allergies. Its better not to have to ask each time. The area is very quiet so if you are looking for lots to do would suggest elsewhere but if looking to chill its ideal.

I’ve stayed at many Barcelo hotels over the past 7 years and this hotel has been my least favourite. The hotel itself is very nice however we encountered the following issues which spoiled our stay. Arrived early and was told we would receive a call once our room was ready. I had already completed their online check in and just had to sign and collect the keys. When we received the call and returned to reception there was a big queue and we had to wait 40 minutes in the queue to collect the keys. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. We stayed in room 251. I had informed the hotel that the holiday was a gift for my husband’s birthday and they made no special effort to celebrate this. My key card did not work for 3 days, the front desk kept recharging the original key, a maintenance man changed the pack on the door and my key still didn’t work. On the third day I went to complain and reception finally changed the key for a new one which worked fine. This was extremely annoying as I kept being told not to keep the key near my mobile. I didn’t even have my mobile with me when they were recharging the original key and it still didn’t work! The safe was locked when we arrived, again had to call out a maintenance man to unlock it, another inconvenience. Housekeeping was generally good, it would have been better if our cups were replaced for new ones everyday. We didn’t have a do not disturb sign when we arrived and was woken up from a nap on our first day when staff dropped off some sweets, again another disturbance. We used the spa for a classic massage costing 75EUR each. The therapist was nice and polite but used no pressure whatsoever during the massage. The massage was literally someone rubbing oil on your skin and putting it on you cold during the massage. The water circuit is tiny and I would not pay to use it given how small it is compared to other Barcelo resorts. The biggest issue we experienced was with the food. The grill outside is used to prepare omelettes at breakfast, omelettes containing meat were cooked on the same plate as other none meat options such as fried eggs. This same grill was then used to cook fish in the evening. We could not eat from this section due to meat being prepared in the same area. My husband also saw the Chef at the grill inside the restaurant scrape down the meat and fish grill using the same utensils. Again we could not eat the fish from this section due to the exposure to meat products. This limited what we could eat throughout our stay. The hotel should segregate food into groups at the point of preparation and serving. Dinner opens at 8pm which is late for anyone who likes to go to bed early. Entertainment which tends to be outside starts at 10:30pm and will keep you awake. The surrounding area has some nice places to walk, cycle although the only cycle hire was closed during our stay. We booked a Premium Ocean View and we're so glad we did, you get to have breakfast in a separate restaurant (Arrozante Restaurant) that is muccchhh calmer and you can enjoy breakfast from the Premium buffet there as well as a la carte, great selection and made a nice change rather than always eating at the main buffet restaurant. Great kids club and loads of activities that parents can also join in. Spa is small but was ok to pop in for half an hour or so plus you get free entrance when on premium upgrade. Rooms nice and spacious, very clean and we had a good view. Loved the swimming pools, the Hotel was fully booked but there were always sunloungers available plus 2 of the pools had a slope in which is perfect for little ones. Overall some of the hallways and stair wells need tidying up, broken lights and things but nothing that would ruin your stay. Food overall was good, we found lunch very generic and we left disappointed some times but there's always snacks from the pool bar if you're still hungry. The buffet dinner was a different theme each night which we enjoyed, there was a very good choice and it wasn't repetitive. The chefs were great and were always around if you had a question about anything. We stayed on all inclusive, there are a few restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel (mainly Italian restaurants) but in general the area where the hotel is located is quite small and isolated so i would recommend all inclusive. There are lots of different bars and areas to sit which we liked. Beach infront of the hotel is stony and wild so not very comfortable but there is a nice boardwalk to wander along and see the sunset. All in all it's nothing fully luxurious but a great stay, good standard as per usual from Barcelo and would recommend.
