TThe Travel HunterThis was our first time staying in the Gion area, and Hotel the Celestine truly elevated the experience. The atmosphere is calm, elegant and very Kyoto. From check in to departure, everything felt smooth and professionally handled.
The cleanliness was impeccable. The room was thoughtfully arranged with a perfect balance of modern comfort and traditional Japanese touches. Beds were extremely comfortable and the space felt well planned, not cramped like many city hotels.
What makes this hotel special is the location. Stepping outside places you immediately in the charm of old Kyoto. Walking through Gion in the early morning before the crowds arrive was unforgettable.
Service deserves special mention. The team was polite, warm and always ready to assist with genuine hospitality.
A beautiful property for anyone who appreciates quiet luxury in a prime cultural setting. We would gladly stay again.

PPengguna TetamuAbsolutely loved this hotel! The interiors are stunning and rooms are spacious and well decorated with ample amenities. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The breakfast spread was the best I’ve had in Japan … includes very good ala carte options as well.
Would definitely recommend to all visiting Kyoto.

KKT5009Location is just next to the JR train where it can direct go to Arashiyama. Beautiful tatami room hotel with 5 private onsen rooms for usage next to their public bath, no need to book and just walk in, wait at waiting area outside the onsen room if occupied. The breakfast is great and very organised. Love the design and the peaceful atmosphere created by the owner of this hotel. Their free ramen is delicious especially after the onsen bath, suggest to go around 10pm where it is less crowded. Will be back again

AAdariEverything was good except the service in hotel restaurants, which was exceptionally bad:
1) breakfast: waited for food for 40 mins, reminded the server 2 times - still nothing;
2) bar: a too long wait for a cocktail. the server said that as apology said cocktail won’t be in included in the bill… but it was there;
3) afternoon tea: told the staff that I dislike dairy products, but have no allergy. So, for example I can eat most sweets, but not the ones with a strong taste of mascarpone cream. In the end they gave me just a plate of fruit and when I remninded them of the above they… did nothing ) I stayed at this hotel and had afternoon tea there last year too - everything was fine then.
All of the above are 3 different restaurants inside the hotel, so I wouldn’t recommend going to any restaurant there. In all other aspects except services related to food the hotel is good.

PPengguna TetamuEverything is perfect except the so-called wagyu dinner at the hotel restaurant. While the photo of the menu presents a nice wagyu and you can pre-order as many times as you can within 90 minutes, the beef was served in a very disgusting appearance. It is tough and dark yet it is not done inside. It is definitely not worthy of 7890 yens pax. It was electric grill but not charcoal grill. Anyway, the services provided the waiter, Alan, is brilliant. He was sincere and friendly.
The housekeeper, Ms Aina Sao was also deserve my praise. She works with a nice and sincere manner and always put a smile on her face. Also, there are free wine, snacks and beer after 3 pm. You could also grind coffee beans and make yourself a cup of nice coffee. The public bath is not a real onsen. There should be no natural minerals in the water but a slight smell of chlorine.
All in all, Hotel Potel is definitely on my list when I visit Kyoto next time.

TThe Travel HunterOutstanding experience at Hotel Granvia Kyoto. Staying here made our Kyoto trip effortless, especially with the hotel located right above Kyoto Station. Trains, buses and shopping are just steps away, which saved us so much time and energy.
The hospitality was excellent. The staff were polite, attentive and very efficient, making us feel welcomed immediately. Check in was smooth and the overall service throughout our stay was consistently professional. The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable, perfect for resting after a full day of sightseeing.
This hotel combines prime location with refined service and comfort. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto. Truly a five star experience.

PPengguna TetamuI stayed at your hotel from January and am submitting this formal complaint regarding the unacceptable behavior of front desk staff member Mr. Wu.
Immediately after check-in, our room key did not work. Mr. Wu dismissed our concern without checking and repeatedly insisted the problem was ours, not the card. Only after visible irritation and reluctance did he come upstairs, where it was confirmed the key was faulty. No apology was offered.
Despite being informed that parking fees would be settled at checkout, approximately one hour after check-in (around 4:00 PM), Mr. Wu called our room while we were resting and demanded we come down because the parking fee had not been paid. This felt accusatory and deeply inappropriate.
Additionally, when asking a simple question about which parking card to use, Mr. Wu responded with audible sighs and a condescending attitude.
This conduct is entirely incompatible with professional hospitality standards.
I expect this matter to be taken seriously and appropriate disciplinary action to be taken.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.
6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering.
In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction.
If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.

PPengguna TetamuThis was our favourite hotel from our whole trip (Tokyo,Kyoto, Osaka). It felt traditional but modern and very clean with no shoes allowed inside. It was great having a separate space for the parents in the room and it came complete with all the amenities. It’s close to the station, onsen and the best massage chair we’ve ever used on site to relax after a full day of exploring and had unlimited icecream/ yakult/ drinks plus ramen too. Will definitely book this again for future trips.

Returned again as it is indeed One of the best kyoto hotels stayed with excellcent breakfast, particularly the fresh-made toast.
