As I write this, we are sat on our balcony, drinking our last coffees at Hotel Scorpios, as we leave today. Words cannot describe just how perfect this place is and what a wonderful fortnight we have had here in this little slice of paradise. Where do I start… ‘the view’! We have been all over the World and I can honestly say this is one of the most breathtaking views we have ever been blessed with on our travels. It never fails to amaze… every day when you wake, at night, when the moon is reflecting on the sea. It is out of this World. We have spent hours sat on the balcony, just watching the view. The other factor that makes this place wonderful is the family that run it. Antonis, his Dad and his Aunt are truly lovely people, salt of the Earth. They are so kind and friendly, accommodating, helpful. Antonis made us immediately at home from the moment we arrived. They work so unbelievably hard to make this place perfect. They are always smiling and laughing (especially Antonis’ Dad). They’ve made a huge fuss of our 14 yr old son. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is fantastic here. Breakfast is delightful (book direct so that breakfast is included). We have had many lunches and evening meals here and never been disappointed. The stifado is worth a mention…. It is so delicious. The chef is a lovely guy, who also works hard to make sure everyone is fed well with lovely food. Also worth a mention is the ice- cold Mythos, always served in ice- cold glasses. Unbeatable on a hot day! The room was cleaned daily to a really high standard. Clean towels and new toilet rolls daily (which we’ve never had in Greece). The two girls that clean are so lovely too. Location- personally, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Nidri. Where Scorpios is located is quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Nidri. We love peace, so we found the location perfect! There is a lovely beach underneath the hotel and over the road (Perigiali, Pasas beach), there is a little supermarket underneath the hotel too (although there are many steps down to it). It is around a half hour walk into Nidri, (which can be challenging in the heat). You can get a taxi for around €5-10. Nidri is extremely busy (high season) and it wouldn’t suit us, Scorpios is perfect! Two lovely beach experiences worth mentioning are… ‘SeaView Nidri’. This place is has a little bit of private beach. You can have loungers there as long as you spend at least €20 in the restaurant/bar throughout the day. It’s a lovely experience but you have to be there early for loungers!!!! The other is ‘Tom’s Seaview Restaurant’. This also has a little stretch of beach with loungers. Here, you pay €20 for two loungers and an umbrella for the day. We ate there, the food was amazing and the setting, beautiful. They also serve the most amazing iced beer! I would highly recommend hiring your own boat for the day and exploring the little islands, including Meganisi. We used Lefkas boat rentals and they we
