Location is great. Checkin was easy. Rooms are spacious with a little kitchenette (stove cooktop & microwave) but there’s no dishes or utensils to cook. Decent coffee/tea setup. Nice robes. Medium sized fridge with freezer section. City view rooms do not have balconies and face street with view of ice cream shop and laundromat. Pool is warm & pool towels available. 1 block from the busy street and 2 blocks from beach. There’s a bar with a pool table, foosball, and darts where happy hour was offered for an hour daily. BREAKFAST WAS NOT WORTH WAKING EARLY FOR. Very limited options and was cold. Also after checking our reservation at the breakfast restaurant they were insisting we pay for it when we paid for it with the reservation. Also felt the breakfast staff were a bit rude when I tried asking for details on the station others were lining up for reminding me of things that were included or not.

DO NOT BE FOOLED by their marketing. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I have no idea how they get these positive reviews. This hotel is making sure they show up first in all your searches. They have pictures that do not reflect what you get. I thought I was the only one, but others were at the front desk also complaining about the rooms. They show furniture that's not there, many of the rooms face one another so you can't have the window open without being 10ft from someone else's balcony and you can see into the other rooms. There is NO VIEW at all. It's tight quarters and apart from 1 guy at the front and the cleaning lady who was really sweet, there is never a manager on site, so receptionist can't do anything is not well trained. With so many other places to stay in Playa, I would NEVER recommend this and I've traveled the world. Definitely DO NOT BOOK NON-REFUNDABLE. At least if you want to leave, you can. Location is about 5 blocks from 5th and 10th ave. But there are plenty of options within that distance. I've been to Playa so many times and I wish I could warn people just to keep looking as this is not a very nice place for the money and you can definitely find better and be treated better!

Service at reception/ lobby is fantastic, helpful and friendly. Also at the pool, staff tries to do their best as many people order and I think they need more staff to service everyone. However, at the restaurant ‘La cocina’ for breakfast as well as Dinner at the Sushi restaurant: service was pretty slow, even some dishes were forgotten and we had cancelled, some food arrived cold — needs to improve the table service. I didn’t appreciate that most of the weekly activities scheduled needed extra $. Need proper beach place to walk along. Is fun they have an arcade for extra entertainment.

This new hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to 5th Street, the beaches, and the local community. A+ for location! There is also a beautiful and expansive supermarket right under the hotel to get whatever culinary needs you require. We were upgraded to a balcony room as Bonvoy Titanium,.The price point of the Aloft was also a value, and it is a good bargain in using Marriott Bonvoy points. Javier that checked us in was lovely and gracious, and all staff were pleasant and professional. Aloft is an unusual hotel--one that wants to be a wanna-be hip W Hotel and also a Fairfield Inn for Gen Z'ers. It didn't do either very well, unfortunately. The staff wanted to do well, and perhaps there are still newly opened growing pains that will be worked out. Housekeeping was promised daily, but on 3 out of the 5 days we had to call Housekeeping after returning from the day;'s activities to service the room (which they did right away when called) but this was a big fail. The purified water dispenser in the nice gym was often empty. And generally the upkeep of the hotel is not or was not a priority. It's nice and new and ”hip looking” but metal surfaces and walls by the pool on the 4th floor are rusting already, and little bits of trash on the hallway carpeting remained for the 5 days which showed they didn't vacuum the common areas as often as should be. Room A/C and common area A./C were great! 4th floor pool has city and sea views in the distance and we could often see Cozumel and the cruise ships anchored there in the far distance on most days. I wanted the stay to be great, but it was good.

Absolutely shocking, do not stay here! The experience from start to finish WILL be a bad one. Avoid like the plague. Let’s start at the beginning…. There were two people in front of me checking in when we arrived, it took the two staff just over 30 minutes to book these customers in. The staff (Raul and Cecilia) appeared to struggle to use the IT system and could not manage to work the card machine either. They held me at the desk 20 minutes before giving up and requesting I came back later to pay….. this was no speedy process either. They also ran a seemingly archaic paper system alongside the IT setup, just to slow things down a little further. There were no towels in the room, we rang reception and asked for some - only to be told that they had ran out. We had to ***** one of the beds and use the bed sheets to dry ourselves after washing. Very late on that night we managed to get hold of a couple of towels and when we got up in the morning to shower there was no water. Now I travel plenty and understand that there can be issues with water feeds, this is exactly what the staff blamed it on. Well, until I went to the restaurant opposite and found out that they actually had water. The breakfast was appalling. I wouldn’t feed it to a pig, in fact I’m not sure that a pig would eat it. Plenty of shell in the scrambled egg though, if that’s your thing……? A small tanker came and left, the hotel then had water. I’m not sure how long it will last, only time will tell. (Edit - it ran out again the same evening). I was lucky enough to rinse the soap from my burning skin, I have attached a picture- you can see the water is selected at full flow and also the minimal volume of water coming out of the shower head. The staff appeared to be anything but bothered about all of the issues and unfortunately couldn’t care less about putting things right. On the plus side the location is ok(ish) and the room was clean…. This clean room could be fully enjoyed upon managing to open the door. The key card system seems to have a bit of an issue. You can get the lift moving after swiping your card a small number of times, getting into our room though was a different story and always took around 20 to 30 swipes. I forgot to mention the pool, sat in the shade and very dirty. Nothing like the pictures we saw. This is not a review from a disgruntled customer, I am not that person. 2 nights of shocking accomodation will not spoil my fairly lengthy trip. I would stay here again, if it were $20 a night. £320 for two nights in this place - absolute robbery! There are some outstanding Air b n b’s around here for far less dollar and in a totally different league to this hole also, do yourself a favour and book one of those instead.

My experience was not very positive, mainly because of the staff at the reception desk, They charged me twice for my stay even though I showed them that I already paid online, they insisted that I pay again, before accessing the room and still didn’t receive the refund for that second paiement The room itself is really beautiful , clean and confortable ! They charged us for using some amenities, even though it was in open access and no notice indicated that this was a paying service, The breakfast is underwhelming to say the least, The place is close to the parks of Xplore and Xcaret you can either choose to go by walking (30 min) or take a taxi that will cost you 20 dollars for 7 min But it’s pretty far from the city Center of Playa del Carmen, you will need to take a taxi, it will cost at least 20 dollars, or you could walk for 40 min This hotel has a very high potentiel, if the reception desk staff would be friendlier, and more helpful, and if they could make a small improvement on the breakfast

Excelentes instalaciones y muy buena atención al huésped. En cuanto a limpieza tienen sillones de playa que están manchados . La comida excelente. Por el precio creo pueden dar un vino de mejor calidad sin necesidad de cobrarlo extra.

Main Point: Set expectations low for service and do not trust anything to be guaranteed regardless of what is advertised or written. Impressions review: my wife and I were super excited to visit this resort after the amazing reviews. The rooms, pools, and resort itself was good eye candy, and the food on the impressions side was delicious and significantly better than the Moxche side (which quite frankly isn't even worth eating). Unfortunately that's about where the pros end. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Multiple instances of resort staff simply forgetting a request or order (e.g. we ordered drinks at seaside for lunch and repeatedly reminded the waitress, and it never arrived). The list of benefits advertised is also not all true. Examples from my stay. Benefit: Twice daily refreshed in-suite mini-bar. Reality: room was only cleaned and not restocked for 3 days. Benefit: complimentary laundry service Reality: room was missing the laundry bag and form required to use this service. For the entire week's stay. Over a dozen requests and was never done. Benefit: Butler service Reality: sometimes useful but it's 3 butlers split between 100+ rooms. The attention to detail was lacking, and they got my dinner reservation wrong, causing us to nearly miss out on a meal altogether. The stay wasn't all bad and we did enjoy the food, the pools, and some of the activities. (So basically the non-service dependent aspects) Just be warned that 5 star luxury service (or rather any service really) is definitely not guaranteed. The management team also doesn't care much for service recovery so escalating any issues will usually be met with disgruntled staff who probably won't be able to resolve anything anyways.

This was our second vacation trip to the Xcaret Mexico hotel. We really enjoyed the ”ALL fun inclusive” experience, with exclusive transportation and access to ALL Xcaret group parks. We were a family group of 5 rooms, with combination of adults, and adults/children in several of the rooms/suites. We had two concierge services representatives (K.C. and Laura), and they were very attentive and accommodating to our needs, requiring two suite changes to better suit our needs. They also helped us with the restaurants' and parks' reservations (for those which required it), and also with the wheel chair arrangements for my mother-in-law. The restaurants are big, and even though the hotel was fully occupied, we did not feel crowded or had to make lines to enter the restaurants. A most do is the Sunday brunch at the ”Las Cuevas” restaurant. Their meat and seafood offerings were way above what I was expecting, with even a Tuna processing experience made by the chef, ending in a delicious Tuna tartar appetizer. My wife is FULLY vegan (I am not), and we went to their vegan restaurant ”Bio”, and were able to taste almost ALL of their breakfast and lunch menu offerings, with every one having its own palate pleasing taste. Add to that their freshly pressed juices shots, and specialty frozen shakes. By the third day, Xiomara greeted us by our names, and waiter Edgar had known what we already tasted, and ”took care” of us. Kudos to both of them, for understanding and living a true ”costumer service”. This hotel is so well designed, that even there were live bands throughout the lobby and infinity pool areas, the volume was not overwhelming, and you can relax at another area, without it bothering you. Each restaurant had some special drinks, which you can enjoy, so make sure you ask the waiter for the ”special cocktail” of the day. We witnessed two ”destination weddings”, and the open area activities did no interfere with our time to enjoy the hotel amenities, so thank you for that. We even enjoyed another ”shot” of ”free” mariachi's songs while walking near them. On Sunday, we were able to enjoy catholic Sunday mass at the Xpiral chapel. All in all, my family and us had a blast, with ”not enough time” reviews from each and every one of them. We plan on coming back and visit some of the park attractions we did not have time to try, as well as enjoy again the amenities this hotel has to offer its guests. The weather was hot and humid, as it has been in every place in the world at this latitute. Be prepared and drink lots of water! ¡Muchas gracias por poner sus corazones al servicio de sus huéspedes!
