Bahia Principe Sunlight San Felipe

Room was fairly decent with a great view (sea view upgrade) however the bathroom did smell of sewerage. Pool was good and clean, plenty of sun loungers and decent pool bar. Buffet selection was poor and the food quality was not great - lunch time options at the pool bar were okay with Paella being served one day and Chicken & Pork on the grill another. Servers were mostly friendly and attentive.

Some of the review I read before going left me with a bit of dread, people saying about the food, the rooms and other bits I was dreading it. On some terms I agree with the modernization especially in the rooms, it does need a revamp, made a little brighter and the Aircon made modern a little better but over all the room was wonderful and clean with an amazing large balcony and wonderful sea view. We had the large double sea view room. The maids was wonderful, the room was always left clean and changed the towels frequently or when requested. They brought more water for the room when used. Nothing was too much. Me and my partner and little boy went with my parents who had the room next door, there was a joint door which we asked to be unlocked so if we needed to be with one another we could easily. The entertainment team was great doing things throughout the day for both children and and adults. They did a foam party once a week was great fun. The party dances in the lounge bar was great fun, my little one loved doing his dances and the entertainment staff was fab with him. The ground it's self is lovely with a little park near the kids club near the tennis court. My little boy loved walking round and playing. The food in dinning room was repetitive but it was delicious and if you found something great last week then on our second we looked forward to it, especially the ribs!! Loved the food and could always make a meal from what was available. My little boy who 1 always found something he liked too. The staff was so wonderful the two Eduardo's was great and played with Louie and so was the ladies but can't remember their names. The staff was so lovely, hopefully meet them there again at some point. The Italian and Mediterranean restaurants was nice and we enjoyed two meals there. Overall we had a wonderful family holiday for Louie's first holiday. Would definitely go again!! Miss this place already!

Don't belive the bad reviews. my husband and I have just stayed for a week and loved the hotel. everywhere was really clean, our room (Jr suite was light and airy) The food was plentiful and prety much what you'd expect from am all inclusive. staff were really polite and helpful, and the entertainment crew worked hard to keep everyone busy. would definitely visit again

The hotel needs new air-conditioning and a makeover but other than that it's wonderful. The staff go above and beyond. The food is good..the al la crate restaurants go the extra mile with service. The hotel is based on a busy ***** with lots of shops plenty going on. Honestly everything was clean and any requests were granted. Special shout out to Alejanro behind the pool.bar who smiled and had a chat with us everyday

I am currently staying at this hotel and while it is very clean, and the food selection good, the staff are terribly rude. They will only speak in Spanish, and have issue with the fact that myself and partner have separate rooms, and therefore separate drinks orders for ourselves and our respective children. When I complained to the hotel receptionist, I was asked to return the next morning to speak with the PR team, who were then not available to discuss. The restaurant team also complained when we arrived for dinner at 2100, and reluctantly allowed us to sit down, all the while complaining in Spanish to one another. For clarity, dinner time finishes at 2200. My daughter has unfortunately come down with food poisoning, and when we asked about a doctor, there was zero concern shown and we were told to call 112. Luckily we found a fantastic GP who attended within 30 minutes and who was able to tell us which pharmacy was open 24 hours so we could get a prescription filled. To top it all off, there were moth larvae in my bed, which have bitten me all over. The team simply gave us new bed linen and left us to ***** and change all bedding ourselves. We were also advised to roll up a towel so that the army of ants outside our door could not make their way into our room. The cleaning staff have done a wonder job in our bedroom each day, and I must give credit where credit is due. Overall though, I’m very disappointed.

Don’t let negative reviews put you off. We had a lovely stay here for a week. The hotel yea is a little dated but it shouldn’t really affect your holiday experience. The rooms were very clean and plenty of space for myself husband and child and to be honest the room is really only to sleep in as we were out most of the time either exploring Puerto de la cruz or by the pool. The pool is a decent size, there are 3 pools of different depths and my daughter mostly swam in the middle sized pool which was perfect for her. There are a lot of sun beds but they do get taken quickly (as with any big hotel that has a pool) though not an issue for us as we were quite happy to sit at the tables instead and there are plenty tables available too. Food - the food was as you would expect with any all inclusive buffet at any hotel, sometimes it was the same things some nights but it was nice and had plenty of options. As with any hotel if you arrive to breakfast in the last hour then you will have to queue and wait for a table (all hotels are like this because people tend to go at peak time), it is not the hotels fault it is just normal during busy times anywhere you go. Go for breakfast earlier, lunch dinner earlier and you will be sat straight away and will not need to queue, it’s common sense really. Staff were all lovely from reception, to restaurant, bar, entertainers and cleaners, we were always greeted with a smile. We had a meal in the a la crate restaurant one night and the man seating the tables coming in was lovely and very kind to my daughter showing her how to fold napkins as she was very keen on trying to fold them. The cleaners arranged my daughters teddies every morning which was a lovely touch and really made her smile. Entertainers work very hard and always smiling. If you read negative reviews on here I would “take them with a pinch of salt” and form your own opinion. I read the negative reviews here before I went and wish I hadn’t because it was honestly a lovely stay.
