We unfortunately stayed at Erlowest and Sun Castle Resort from November 1-3, 2024 for a wedding. Not knowing your resort, we thought that we would have very nice accommodations especially considering the event. My wife and my son stayed with me in Cabin #11. My wife and I are both 74 years old. Considering our age, we didn't realize that we had to carry the luggage so far downhill to the cabin that we were staying in. So, the outside temperature, when we arrived, was 63 degrees, but it was going to drop overnight. When we got into the cabin, it was pretty cool inside. I found the remote that operated the 3 wall heater/air conditioner units and pushed the temperature up 74, thinking that it would get much warmer. We had a Welcome Party to go to so we just brought our luggage in and tried to set them up. We headed out for the party and didn't come back to the cabin until about 11:30 pm. It was getting colder in the cabin because the heaters never came on. I thought that the heaters would have come on in the middle of the night. Boy, was I wrong. To top it off, the TV in our bedroom didn't work. So, instead of trying to do anything else, we went directly to bed, not only to sleep, but to try and get warm. In the middle of the night, we got pretty cold even considering we were huddled together, so l looked for some other blankets, but there weren't any to be found. It got very cold that night. The next morning, even though the cabin was pretty cold, I wanted to quickly chill down some water, so l put it in the freezer and noticed that the upper shelf was rusted. I felt like the old refrigerator with rust on the shelving, was an example of how dirty the cabin was. I went in to take a shower. As soon as I open the water faucet, brown water came out. I thought to myself, what else could be wrong. The water did clear up after running it for a period of time. Later that day, I went to the check-in desk to tell them we didn't have any heat in the cabin. The maintenance man was there. He over heard me tell them that there was no heat. He said he would go and fix it immediately. Later on that evening, there was heat in the living room/ kitchen, but none in either bedroom. That night, the temperature was dropping to 30 degrees. All night long, my feet were freezing. My wife was even shocked how cold my feet were when I brushed them up against her. She wanted me to stay away. We got up in the morning, and I took a shower. Thank God there was hot water. I could finally get warm again, before stepping out into a much colder bathroom. I toweled myself off and prepared to leave to head back home. So we dragged our luggage back up the hill to our car. We were never so glad to get back into a nice warm car and leave this "resort". We will never come back here again. For further context, we came into the area on Wednesday, 2 days prior to checking into Erlowest, to check out the area. We stayed at the Marriott in town. It was such a wonderful hotel.
