Mediterraneo Bay Hotel & Resort

I stayed here as a family of 3 adults 1 child during May half term. Overall the pools were fun for my child but I was disappointed for the price we paid. I will elaborate if you wish to read a long review... Check in - we arrived at 9.30 pm and Alba on reception was very friendly and helpful and sent us for dinner before checking us in as they finish serving at 10pm. Luis (who was great all week) helped us find the correct restaurant as there are 3 near the lobby. His English is limited but always very friendly and helpful. Things then went downhill as the lady at the restaurant insisted on a room number or wristband but we hasn't checked in yet, we persuaded her eventually but she struggled to understand why I hadn't checked in yet. Room- was a good size, clean and had the sea view we paid for. The Balcony chairs were a bit flimsy and the balcony wall was a bit dirty. Again things went downhill in term of the door lock. The handle had been loose and difficult to get the door to open from arrival but twice during the holiday we were locked out of the room due to the door lock being faulty - this was for hours at a time. Initially the lady on reception was very curt and suggested it was my fault for storing the key near my phone and didn't apologise - gave us 2 new keys which didn't work either (like I said this was an issue with the door not the key). Someone was sent to fix it which took over an hour. The next day we got locked out after breakfast and I hadn't taken my bag so had to money or sunscreen. By 11.30 it was still broken so I politely but firmly asked for them to hurry up as the whole family was stuck in the bar inside as we didn't want to get sunburnt. About 15 mins later a maintenance man was sent to the room luckily we found him as he was able to check our keys worked before leaving, he was very friendly and helpful. Pools- This is where to hotel should excel but again it was let down by some issues. The lagoon pool near the new swim up rooms was shut on and off throughout the holiday, not sure why we were thrown out by a lifeguard one day and on another day it was full of palm tree offcuts as they were chopping them back by the pool (not sure why this wasn't done before the opened for the season or before the pool was filled up after shutting it?) There was some confusion by Jet2 who insisted this pool was fully open- but it wasn't. The main adult pool is OK but can get busy as the other pool was shut. The children's pool with the fire engine seemed great but the water didn't turn on till 11am (my child really wanted to go in right after breakfast at 9.30/10am). It was poorly maintained on close inspection, quite rusty in places and some broken bits (again I would expect this to be fixed out of season). The slide pool was good for older children but most of the nearby sunbeds the elastic or height adjustment is broken so not very comfy. Firstly as someone who reads plenty of reviews , I thought it was keen to write one and also to provide some context and honesty. I always read reviews based on the fact that some people will love a place and others pick fault. The hotel is lovely we were in room 527 which overlooked the sea which was beautiful. The room had two large double beds, a lovely bathroom and wonderful balcony. It was clean and tidy. The food was what you would expect from a buffet. Plenty of choice and hot. For all those people reviewing the food negatively, they need to re evaluate what they expect from a buffet style hotel. Highlights were the omelettes (lovely lady serving them) and the kids loved the Nutella and chocolate fountain pancakes (as did I). The evening meal choices were vast with plenty of salad, grilled meat and fish options alongside other delicacies and the classic pizza and pasta area. We were half board so can’t comment on lunches or snack bar. The hotel was relatively quiet for our stay, so we didn’t have any issues with queues and all the staff we encountered throughout our stay were brilliant and help me with some of my Spanish pronunciation. The bar area is well located with plenty of seating. Nothing better than a nice cold sangria over looking the pool. The pools were cold but once in it was fine, the slides were great fun as well. Yes there are some cracked tiles but for such a large pool area this wasn’t an issue and I’m sure the hotel will improve for next season. There are plenty of flat walks in either direction at the back of the hotel following the footpath. Bikes and electric scooters can be hired locally and the well signed cycle paths adjacent to the footpath gave us great fun. We visited the market on Thursday which was classic Spanish market, there is a shopping centre (Grand plaza) that is either a good walk or short bus trip away. My daughters enjoyed primark, H&M and Pandora in there. Overall my family (wife, two girls 14-11 and my dad) had a great time and would go back. The weather was early 20s in October half term and was brilliant. Thanks to all the staff.

Beautiful resort, the rooms could have been better - safe completely broken and no drawers to put anything in, just wardrobe space. Room was cleaned every single day, with fresh towels and bed linen Food excellent with a wide selection. Always hot and never appeared to run out The only downside to this hotel is that on a Friday it gets completely taken over by Spanish families - yes I know i am in Spain - but it seems to be their local holiday place. They push in front of you at every opportunity and always get served first at the bars - and it always seemed that they got the named spirits and not local. Even in the restaurant, i had my table, which i left my drink and cardigan on when i went to get food - came back and it had been taken off and a family were sitting there and i had to be moved It also appeared to be feeding time at the zoo on Friday night, with so many children running riot through the restaurant, knocking into people and generally causing havoc In all, I would not return to this hotel

I recently stayed at this wonderful hotel and was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of my visit, we booked a Junior Suite Royal and the room was just amazing, so big and clean with a wonderful view. The hotel's restaurants offer a diverse and delicious array of dishes, during our stay two thematic restaurants were open the Green Monkey and the TAKAMAKA and we loved them both we could try a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. The cleanliness of the hotel is top-notch; my room was spotless and well-maintained throughout my stay. Housekeeping did an excellent job, ensuring that every corner of the hotel, from the lobby to the hallways, was immaculate. The staff at the reception and customer service desk were exceptional. They were friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with a smile. Their warm welcome and helpfulness made me feel right at home. Overall, my stay at this hotel was a fantastic experience, and I look forward to returning soon!

A great beach side location. Everywhere is very clean. The lounges and poolside are comfortable with great pools and daily entertainment, especially for children. There is a wide selection of food. The staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent all round.

It's our 3rd day here and I must say the experience is just amazing. The food is very delicious, we have a lot of options in the buffet, Spanish food at the hotel is excellent, but there are also other options, including a variety of fish dishes that you can request. The servers are very friendly, I asked them to heat the milk for my baby, and they was happy to help and play with him. If you have kids the pool slides are just amazing, we are also happy about the activities they have for kids, especially mini club, they do it at 10:30 so we can leave them there playing and making friends, even if it's just for 30 minutes and enjoy our coffee.

This hotel is absolutely amazing, Im greeted with the exceptional hospitality of Spanish people and all the staff, our room is spacious and very clean, had fresh towels evreyday RESTAURANT: The best restaurant in the hotel for us was undoubtedly the “Green Monkey” we recommend you go there, we also enjoyed dining at Zekker but it was not always open, the girl at the entrance checking bracelets at the entrance was very friendly

ENTERTAINMENT: there is 0 entertainment here for kids - there is a wall with posters outlining the entertainment, on 3 occasions the kids mini disco was changed to different days & times, with family’s like ourselves turning up & being left dissapointed. Apart from this mini disco, i did not see anything advertised which was suitable for kids. When asked at reception why the disco times/days were changed the reply i got was “oh i dont know sorry” STAFF: the percentage of staff are friendly but there are a few who are extremely rude. I asked for hot boiling water for a flask to make my baby a bottle at a later stage and was told to get water and heat it up in the microwave. Same guy served me a drink earlier and when he did not understand what i was asking for (gin & tonic) he started rolling his eyes, shaking his head and demanding my room number. At breakfast, the lady behind serving the pancakes was extremely rude. Asked at 10:20 if it would be possible to get a pancake she went off on a rage shouting in spanish & pointing at her watch as if indicating it was too late. I said fine no problem and left. 5 minutes later she was cooking pancakes for a spanish family. FOOD: we only got breakfast included in our stay. All i can say was the food was horredeous. The first morning i went down with my son, as we finished i literally stood up and two girls came running over and cleared the table - taking my fresh coffee. We ate out every morning after this, as i said the food was awful anyway. ROOMS: we got a junior suite, it was a standard room and not a suite by any means. However the only good thing i will say is that the rooms are clean, cleaned every day with fresh towels etc. no complaints here. LOCATION: you have a handful of restaurants around but not many. Nothing for kids to do around the area. Nellys cafe for a nice english breakdast & popeyes for a gorgeous dinner with wonderful staff. We travelled 2 hours from malaga airport to this hotel as it was advertised as a kids friendly hotel, with mainly good reviews. Very dissapointed and most definitely wont be returning! Met some english familys tonight that arrived 2 days ago and want to go home already… i would not leave a review as harsh but i go by reviews myself and have to be honest! Avoid here & try get somewhere more centrally located and that has some sort of entertainment!

We are here now..avoid like the plague ...absolutely rammed the weekends are absolutely awful rammed with Spanish queued for 45 mins just for breakfast..music blaring at midnight from the bar and they close all ge slides between 2 and 4 pm this is DEFINETLY NOT 4 STAR OR KIDDIE FRIENDLY...oh and bring ant spray if you dont ike ants our room was crawling
