It is about time someone (aka me) wrote a recent review on my stay. This was a great stay. This is small hotel, all the staff super friendly especially both the gentleman on reception. I have seen reviews elsewhere complaining of the breakfast. Just a reminder that this is a 3* hotel and the breakfast is more than adequate to set you up for the day and has all the essentials. The room was spacious, very clean and modestly modern enough especially the bathroom which had lots of space to keep belongings. The small attention detail was nice - towels with the hotel name on, coffee cups with inspiring/funny messages, 2 plug points near the bed, clock in the breakfast room in keeping with the hotel’s link with the port/shipping industry. Note, the rooms have a fan (but they are in the process of installing air conditioning to all the rooms). Only suggestion I have is that the bathroom door in room 103 was a little squeaky (just needs WD40), pillow could be a little less lumpy (but they were more than happy to supply more pillows and still slept very well) and the drinks from the fridge by reception is on the expensive side but all minor points. Location is great. 10 mins walk from Euromast and a few minutes walk from Coolhaven Station, qs a little far from the Centraal Station to walk and even Blaak (where the markethall and cube houses are). All in all, I would definitely stay again. It was a pleasant, relaxing and quiet experience. It felt safe yet cosy. The hotel seemed a little quiet, despite being the weekend, I hope it picks up over the summer. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Ottimo soggiorno. Siamo stati solo una notte ma l'hotel era carino e silenzioso. Il bagno, anche se piccolo è veramente bello e la doccia ottima. Non ho trovato nessun punto negativo. Forse la distanza dal centro, ma si possono accorciare usando i mezzi.

Nel pomeriggio al rientro da una prima visita della città , ci siamo recati in hotel , la ragazza alla reception molto gentile nello spiegarci tutto , dispone di un ampia sala dove sostare a leggere , fare colazione al mattino, ma ho riscontrato tante pecche . 1)si salgono delle scale a chiocciola , con bagagli , non c è un ascensore , quindi molta predunza anche lo scendere , xke può dare una brutta sensazione scendendole , già per questo motivo non è consigliabile per le famiglie con bambini . 2) stanza molto piccola , senza finestre , anzi c erano ma non si potevano aprire , non abbiamo capito se è stato inserito un blocco oppure non hanno apertura . 3) condizionatore molto piccolo , che a stento usciva L aria , e abbiamo trovato anche un ventilatore ( accesso xke non si poteva stare chiusi in camera così piccola , io al mattino non vedevo L ora di lasciare la camera e prendere aria xke mi ha dato sensazione di soffocamento , molto brutta e non si può spiegare ) 4) servizi di bici da noleggiare molto caro , ogni ora o €3,00 o €4,00 , assurdo. Se dovrei consigliarlo solo x una notte si , ma non per soggiorni lunghi .

Basic 3 star hotel in a quieter street just off busy bustling Nieuwe Binnenweg with its plethora of bars and restaurants. Super easy to walk (20 mins) from Rotterdam Centraal, or jump on Tram 4 (to Heemraadsplein) with a stop a mere 2 mins around the corner to the hotel plus metro stop Dijkzigt further south. But once I got my bearings, and the weather fine and sunny, I walked everywhere, and was in Museumpark within 10 mins and also historical old Delfshaven in a city of mainly modern architecture. Check out the refurbished docklands area nr Erasmusbrug, quite stunning, and some 20-30 mins on foot. Invest in a RET day-ticket of unlimited travel through Rotterdam – day or night – by bus, tram, and metro. It becomes valid when you first check in, and costs 9 Euros. An absolute bargain compared to expensive old UK. Centraal station is another design gem, and easy to buy tickets from machines with English-language. I got return tickets for some great daytrips to Den Haag, Delft and Utrecht for a change of pace and scene. My single en-suite room 11 was comVERY compact but had a balcony to sit and enjoy the warm June evenings outside. On the first floor with very steep stairs, and quite noisy at times with other guests coming and going and banging doors. When i first checked in, there was a distinct smell of stale smoke (the hotel is non-smoking) but could have been from a previous smoker on the balcony. Hence, popped to a nearby Aldi to buy a room freshener. Great working shower in the wet room, plenty of towels. Clothes storage was very minimal - just a rail with 5-6 hangers. No drawers, just a writing desk. Lots of sockets to charge your appliances. A handy kettle with some tea/coffee pods after a long day of sightseeing. Breakfast was lovely, with tables and chairs by the reception and onto small garden. Usual cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants, toast, and hot breakfast of bacon and scrambled eggs. Nice choice of teas, plus coffee from a self-service machine. I also rented a bike from reception for some three hours for 10 Euros. All in all, ”diolch yn fawr iawn” & ”Bedankt” to the hotel's staff.

Wow! My father and I loved this hotel. It is centrally located, beautifully and ergonomically designed, well run and really interesting. Everything was well thought through and the rooms were very comfortable. The beds were super comfortable and the pillows were great. What made this place stand out was the staff. They were very helpful, friendly and very efficient. The owners were also very friendly and helped me out as I was there looking for an apartment. Bike hire was included in the price and super easy too. All in all, we had a great trip! Keep up the excellent work. 👏🏾

Sorry guys and team of VD Valk Rotterdam Blijdorp, your team is super friendly and willing to find solutions, no bad word regarding the staff. The hotel is, compared to, other VD Valk hotels, like Ridderkerk, Zuidas, Assen etc just ‘staying alive’. Old, smelly, worn. The rooms need an update. After talking to the front desk manager we got an upgrade to a slightly bigger and slightly less worn room but for sure, this hotel needs a fresh-up. Sigarette burns on sink, stains in carpet, worn furniture, bedmatrasses with a dent etc. Again, staff was absolutely nice, just the material they have to work with is not. The building itself is nice, great architecture. Compared in pricing: not worth the Vd Valk Price they charge now. Management, hope to see improvements soon. Thank you staff, for your service.

Just opened hotel in the center of Rotterdam has bright spacious rooms . Room has flat screen TV, free of charge WiFi in the entire building. Walk in shower has screen protector. Hairdryer and toiletries are free of charge. Hotel is located in museums area, maritime museum is in approximately 350 meters away. Unfortunately during COVID-19 time it was closed.

The hotel seems like an annex to Hotel Emma in Rotterdam (2 min walking from Umplugged). Room is super cute decorated and clean, and the mattress is amazingly comfortable. Location is also really convenient, close to metro station and 10 min walk from Rotterdam Central Station. There is also a street close by with bars and nice brunch places. We book the hotel with my boyfriend for only one night after a concert in the Rotterdam Ahoy, but it was actually a really good place to stay longer! :)

Good location middle in the centre with all the shops around in the area. Also possible to rent bikes in the hotel, so you can see the whole city in a day. The staff was very friendly and helpfull with information of the city
