TL; DR: I’m a monthly traveler and this Fairfield Inn was absolutely a gem in Santa Cruz. Very clean, modern and well kept. Definitely coming back. This is a nice quiet property just off Hwy 1, but shielded enough from traffic that it's pretty quiet. Fairfield Inn SC is a newer property that is well maintained. Anthony at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating of special requests (higher floor, view, later check out). Staff in general were very friendly and staffing was appropriate for the traffic. We got the suite w/ a balcony on a higher level floor - though the hotel doesn't have amazing views from its location, by request, they placed us where there was a view of the ocean at least. The suite was spacious, well appointed, modern and best of all - immaculate. You could even see where housekeepers had wiped down high touch surfaces and counter tops from the residue of microfiber cloths being wiped across them. Save money on breakfast - they had something for everyone, including for those w/ dietary restrictions like gluten allergies or vegetarian. The breakfast had a good spread of various proteins, cereals, fresh fruit, juice, tea/coffee and even grab and go items. An extra plus, that the set up of the breakfast area allows for plenty of social distancing. There's even a patio you can eat breakfast on.

The staff was very pleasant. The hotel was clean and spacious. The only thing was I tried to use laundry facilities and half way through the washer quit working properly. Or j er than that it was located in a really good spot.

The front desk staff are very proactive, kind, and extremely responsive. Their customer service is outstanding. They went above and beyond to help me enjoy my stay. The hotel amenities are exactly what I was looking for. It’s a nice place to stay with the family because of updated kitchen and cleanliness.

We had a last minute booking for a weekend in Santa Cruz to visit the Boardwalk. We were looking for a family friendly hotel. The location is great, it is walking distance from the Boardwalk. The pictures of the outside of the hotel are definitely enhanced, in person the hotel looks dull and their sign is faded. We were on the second floor, upon entering the room it looks nice. I turned on the ac and it was struggling but eventually got temperature where we wanted. Two of the shutters were broken and forced to remain closed which kept the room darker than we like. The bathroom is terrible and the light in there is much too soft, it’s too dark. It wasn’t the bath, walls or floor alone. The entire bathroom needs to be redone. The carpet is also very dirty. It’s a dark blue, I believe with a pattern. There is a musty smell in the room. Again, you are paying for location but the bathroom and carpet made the room feel cheap. Walls are pretty thin, you can hear walking and we had people staying near our room that were slamming their door over and over. I’d stay there again for a quick trip if I was going for The Boardwalk.

This is a fairly inexpensive hotel very close to the Boardwalk. The room had been upgraded. However, there wasn't a closet for clothing or an iron/ironing board. The upper level has a little patio to sit out on which is nice as it was just outside of our room. The stairs to the upper level are a little sloped and could use an update. The parking is a little tight. The inside of the room was fairly clean but the vinyl floor could have been mopped and underneath the beds hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. The outside of the hotel was very dirty. The pool maintenance person was pouring what looked to me like straight chlorine bleach into the pool. The staff were nice. I probably would pick somewhere else to stay next time.
