He consistently went above and beyond, ensuring our every need was met promptly, even outside his regular hours. Miss Sia provided wonderful care and joy to our children, making them feel at home. Mr. Liu Hai's insightful commentary on the hotel's art collection enhanced our stay, deepening our cultural experience. On the third day of our journey, we had initially planned to move to another luxury hotel on the Bund. However, we were dissuaded by the service there. Eventually, at half past eleven that same night, we happily returned to J Hotel to continue our stay. We are delighted that domestic hotels can achieve such high standards of service. We are grateful to Butler George, Miss Sia, Mr. Liu Hai, and the entire staff for making our time here truly memorable.

Amazing, thank you all the staff, Shawn and the rest for making our short stay amazing! We will definitely be back! We stayed and had to leave at 4am, the team packed a breakfast for us which was beyond considerate. Everyone spoke pretty fluent English & the hotel itself was beautiful. Definitely a must stay in Shanghai!

A warm welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel entrance. We were ushered to the lobby at level 101. There we met our butler Alex and we had our refreshments at the lobby with spectacular view. A special shout out to the Hi tea session. Food and services were fabulous. We enjoyed it very much. As well as the magic show. Kudos to the Magician who made our day. The hotel tour was amazing, thank you Jan 真真 for her good effort for showing us around , it was very educational. We didn't get the chance to dine at the Chinese restaurants as there were fully booked. What ashamed! Breakfast spread was interesting. Crew were very attentive. Our room was clean and comfortable. The pillow selection was another brilliant move. Very much appreciated. Front desk Joejoe was courteous and friendly. After all, thank you J Hotel and the crew for an unforgettable experience throughout our stay.

I have been travelled to Shanghai many times before, and stayed in many different 5 star top hotel, somehow, J Hotel is the one and only made me feel home and starting fall in love with Shanghai. The VIEW from 101 is the best of the best to be able to see the WHOLE Shanghai with old and new buildings and history, YUYUAN, the BUND, Peace hotel and more and everything you expect to see. The ARTS and MR LIU HAI’s (刘海先生）art tour actually is the soul of J Hotel. MR LIU, a Shanghai local gentleman, uses the very classic and professional style to bring the guests immersed every piece of art, mainly presented China traditional culture in a fancy and modern visions. J Hotel has me understand more of my mother country, China and first time experienced the old but classic Shanghai GENTLEMAN hospitality, that might be only can see in the movie about 1930s THE SHANGHAI BOUND. I saw every foreigners were so impressed when they see the China art and I am so proud to swing that J Hotel is becoming a new icon of China welcome more and more friends to from all around the world. I highly recommend and I definitely make J Hotel my home in Shanghai. Also I would like to thank you Cindy, the manager of YunJing restaurant, she has given me warm company when I was having dinner on my own. Thank you for her thoughtful gifts. Beautiful room. The best breakfast! Great service, although it makes you feel a little uncomfortable sometimes. You have to leave a deposit of 5000 yuans at the check-in.

The service is good, the food also very nice and the people here are very friendly and polite. Will come back here if going to Shanghai again.

Whilst there is no doubt that the location and view from this hotel are outstanding, it is by no means perfect and you definitely have to question what exactly you are paying for. First off it is worth saying that the staff are great and very welcoming. You can also enjoy walking around the hotel and seeing some of the artwork that is on show. But once you have seen this and enjoyed the view, the novelty wears off. The room was OK, not great, just OK. It felt somewhat dull and the double glass due to the building structure, quite dark. The bathroom though very big, was nothing special and suffered from the current trend of having glass everywhere and hence no privacy, should you require it. The closet area was small and functional but certainly not a wow. The bed was very comfortable and there was a nice chair and sofa to rest on but again, just felt a bit dull. Another small annoyance was the lack of Bluetooth speaker or sound system. Pretty much anywhere I have stayed in the last 10years has had the facility to connect your phone and quietly or otherwise play music but not here. Afternoon tea, passable at best and breakfast, not great. Certainly for a hotel that sells itself as being high end, it was far from that. Swimming pool, honestly, rubbish. Seems like a complete after thought and regardless of being on the 85th floor, offers nothing of a wow factor. Feels like being in a basement with a few sun loungers. Overall, over priced and over hyped, which is a shame as the staff try so hard but sadly will not be hurrying back.
