I’m a solo female traveler who stayed in premier inn Sheffield ( Arena) hotel in January 2025. I came to Sheffield to attend important academic event. Iam from another country , new to uk and I needed help with different things as Iam new to how things work here. One particular staff member in the hotel, I don’t know his name but I would describe him as middle aged African man.From what i observed he worked both in front desk and restaurant as well made my stay very stressful with his condescending attitude behaviour, judgemental , sarcastic facial expressions, condescending way of talking towards me when ever I ask for some help or something. Because of him my stay became more stressful and unpleasant before the important event I have to attend, to the extent it has affected my performance in that event. Due to his sarcastic, condescending and judgmental , discriminatory behaviour and attitude and the way of talking towards me I was hesitant to come to front desk and ask for any help and come down and eat in restaurant as well. I did not understand what is this behavior towards me , all in all it has ruined my stay and made me very uncomfortable, unpleasant as a solo female traveler. There is one another staff member worth mentioning is Mr Keron who was very helpful, pleasant, has very good and friendly attitude.He has even helped me with my taxi booking on my last day at hotel. I doubt if I will return to this hotel again. This stay in January 2025 left very unpleasant experience with the hotel before an important event when Iam supposed to be in a calm and peaceful state. Very disappointed. It’s better to stay in some other hotel where staff are more helpful.
